Hey, I'm Eva, a trans-female from NH. I joined this site since I'm pretty isolated here and there's not many trans folks where I live (that I know of). I started hormones in March and this summer has been the greatest time of my life.

My family consists of my 6 year old son and my girlfriend. We are expecting another child in December. I'm so excited because he (as far as we know) will only ever know me as "Mommy Eva" since my name was legally changed last month.

I work in a deli and write in my spare time. I also spend a good bit of time playing video games and card games (Magic the gathering), as well as a new found love of fashion and makeup.

I hope to make friends here, or at the very least, find people who understand these feelings I have. It's super hard to explain this stuff to a cis person.

Anyway, thanks for letting me join!

Hello Eva and welcome to TransPulse!   I think there is some variability in services in NH, north to south.  There is a support group that meets in Rochester and if you can travel, in Portland, ME.   Please join in the conversation and ask any questions you may have.

Cheers, Jani

Thanks Jani.

Unfortunately I live in Grafton county. There is very little up here in terms of anything really. Traveling to even Rochester is about an hour away. :(. I do work with one other trans person, FTM, but I never know how to start a conversation with him. Neither of us are stealth so everyone knows, but it seems like an awkward thing to bring up.

You might look to Dartmouth-Hitchcock as they do provide transgender health services and they may have contacts or provide support functions.

This link has some data you may find useful, although I cannot vouch for its completeness.  There is a group in White Water Junction also.

I travel about an hour when I go to Rochester and quite a bit more when I travel to Portland.  I find them both well worth the effort.  You should certainly think about it.

As you say neither of you are stealth, striking up a conversation with your coworker should be easy.  Initiate the conversation by saying you're looking for [support group/health care/emotional support] or whatever and who he know of any sources?  You don't necessarily need to become best friends but since you have something in common, pooling your resources and knowledge would be of benefit to both of you.

Hi Eva

Welcome

I know the feeling of lack of trans folk as I don't know any at all here, although it is some while since I last investigated. Logically there must be many! It does not worry me, and I have a steadily changing circle of friends, but the change in viewpoint means I just have to be aware of how may partner may see things.

Hi Eva, really nice to read your intro! It sucks you are in less supportive environment where you live, but I hope you will find many helpful people here that can give you the support that you need. I'm sending a smile and a kiss your way!

Hugs,

Sunny Kay

It certainly could be classed as dark humor.  Unfortunately the sentiments alone must hurt young trans folks.  Decency and reality doesn't seem to be in the GOP's vocabulary.   Hugs,   Charlize

Good morning all,    It’s a frosty morning here the lawn looks silvery, and the uncovered spring flowers have icy edges on their leaves. The only flower bed I covered was my tulips. As nice as it is here during the day, our clear wind free nights allow the temperatures to drop into the mid twenties. Here in our growing zone it’s recommended that you not plant delicate plants until Mother’s Day. Central Indiana can have snow as late as the third week of May. The birds are active at the feeders, I’ve had my cup of yoghurt and morning meds. So I’ll sit here, drink coffee and watch the as the sunrise chases the frost from the yard.    @awkward-yet-sweet I could eat black eyed peas as a side for every meal. Boil them plain or with fatback. Served as a leftover, just add in a little Rotel Original Diced Tomatoes & Green Chilies.  Make the best of your day,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Morning, y'all. Evening here; we had the regulation three mugs full today. Now it's time to drink something else.     No big plans here either, eldest daughter and granddaughter will be arriving on Saturday, and we will have our granddaughter to ourselves for a week after that. We still have plans though. Tuesday we'll go to the swim center, Wednesday we'll take a road trip to visit my mom, Thursday we'll get some mulch delivered to top up the gardens.   I still make other small plans on a daily basis though. The things I do plan nowadays, which is a bit new for me, is that after pinching a nerve and ending up in a bit of pain and getting some treatment from the physio, I am more motivated than ever to exercise more regularly. Tuesday for example, I went for a short (15 minute) early morning walk, went to the pool for some hydrotherapy, and mowed the lawns. Yesterday I did my exercise reps and spent some time on the exercise bike. Today, I went for a 45-minute walk, tomorrow I will do my reps again and go for a long bike ride. As long as I do at least one thing every day, right? The pleasing thing is that I'm losing weight! I blew out to above 95kg early in the year and I'm just under 91kg now. Yay me!

What one piece of advice would you give to beginning transitioners or considering transition?

Positive side of the mixed bag.

Boredom is an emotional state that comes when a person has nothing to do, and is not interested in anything. To stop boredom, most people do something to occupy or amuse themselves. The first known use of the word boredom is in the novel Bleak House by Charles Dickens, written in 1852, but the saying to be a bore had been used to mean "to be tiresome or dull" since 1768. When referring to the mind, boredom is a bad state in which the person feels a deep lack of interest in what is going on around them, and where it is hard to focus.
