Social Networks

Hello All:

Wanted to start and ask a new topic on the question:  How do you come out on social networks?  To me, it seems so easy to come out in person, but every time I want to post on a social network, something is holding me back.  Especially since I cannot wait to start HRT.

Thank You

Amy

Well for me this is the extent of my social media involvement.  I've never wanted to get too involved and expose too much of my self.  Although I think it depends upon how your online presence is structured.  If it is with actual real life friends and people you know, you can just write a heartfelt post explaining your coming out position.  If you have a far reaching network inclusive of "Facebook friends" (people you don't really know) it can be a little more tricky.   I would be a little more reserved in the post you write.   I'm sure there will be others that have other ideas that may tell you their experiences.  I understand it can be hard.

I am a co-Admin / Moderator on several Face Book groups, and a member of quite a few.  I am and have been out and open for over a decade so I do not have any serious problems shooting my keyboard off, but in the beginning there are some safety items I would suggest if you are just cracking open the closet door and sticking a high heel shoe out (or even sticking a polished fingernail or toenail out.

Create a page / identity with your preferred name and gender on it and no reference to who you no longer ID as.

Look for Trans* support groups for TG people, I am a member of quite a few of them and do much there what I do here and join them.  Look for actual help and unless you are really into fetish or showing off for admirers, look for the helpful ones which include Trans* social notices in your area, or the pages of some of the action groups, join and see what happens.  (If you go on Face Book, PM me and I can recommend a few via PM.)  There are some of us from this site over there and we have become pretty cagey about knowing who to add on as Friends.  Do not accept a Friend without checking their page to see if you feel comfortable about it.

While in there, be yourself, but if it is a good help site then they will understand questions like we do here and will actually be friendly.  Read carefully and read the general rules for each site and do not worry about hurt feelings if someone creeps you out and you leave fast.

After a few months, or longer if needed then start a site for your family and old self friends and then, since you may be in therapy you will let them in on what is happening and about your Trans* site and ask if they want to be added to that site.  Honor requests NOT to be added.

Ramble rumble -- hope this helps.

      No problem!

Old topic, but I gotta say my favorites are: "Stop hitting on minors" (doesn't work if you're holder tho) and "Sure as [squid] not you"

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie

I am in too good a mood to earn my certificate today. I am sure something will happen that will put me on the path to earning it.

It's likely most cis-women consider a fitting unnecessary "because they know what  they wear" and get used to the wrong size.  The instructions for what your size is are simple and why go to any further effort?  You measure your bandsize and you measure your max and subtract the two to get the needed info for the cup size.  Then you buy the same size for years until it hurts or something.

Congratulations Lorelei! Yes, it is a powerful feeling to have the documents that say "you are you".

Here is space for discussion on this, since the topic is large and could derail another thread SOMEBODY started.   Could some dear, sweet, kind Moderator pull everything related to this from the Voting for Trump thread and put it here?  I don't know if you can do that; I am the new girl on the block after all (blinks sweetly).

I will have arrived when I have a b*tch certificate of my own.  I think someone called me one once.

Good morning everyone,   It’s Thursday well as least I took my Thursday Medications as sorted out in my weekly dispensary caddy. Today’s coffee is Folgers Breakfast Blend served HOT, black and strong. My wife and I are going to explore the Western and Southern coasts of Saginaw Bay and hang out in Bay City, MI. today.    @Willowonce @Abigail Genevievepointed out the word usage in your post. I read it and laughed, enjoying the snarky tone of the comment. Since it was spelled correctly I thought maybe you meant for it to read just as you typed it. Then the kinder gentler me thought it would be better if I changed it. I’m not saying I corrected it, I just changed the severity of the sentence.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
