Came out to my sister today - she was soooo understanding!

Today my sister proved we can never predict someone's reaction. She and I were talking about general health issues and then I told her about DES and its possible affect on our family. This led to a discussion about gender issues and gender dysphoria, and soon I found myself telling her EVERYTHING! I was so happy to let it out that I began laughing. She was very supportive, understanding and encouraging. She's the first in family member to hear about my plan to transition, and now I know I have an ally on the inside

You might end up even having a stronger relationship with her in the future!

It's interesting that you laughed as you were honest with your sister.  i cried with happiness at times when i did the same.  It's great to have support and the nonjudgemental ear of a person we've known throughout our lives.

Yes, the first is always the hardest. It was like crashing through a brick wall and finding life very different on the other side. A good different, of course, but still different. I feel so blessed to have her

I'm finding that I laugh when I talk to close friends and my therapist too. I think my being is just so pleased that I'm revealing this emotionally-charged information that I laugh as a release. I'm growing to like it.

Great news. When I told my sister she told me she was glad that I found the help that I needed.since then we have talked more than we have all year, and text a lot on thanksgiving she sent me a text saying good morning Rachael. I hope you and your sister share more good times.

Yes! I have two and know I can count on both. They'll each provide something different but their support will be essential.

I remember when I told my sisters, one of them's first words were, "I always wanted a big brother." My sisters have been fantastic (all 6 of them, and my little brother, too).  

That elated relief at telling someone close makes great sense to me as well!
