Painful Erections

Sorry if this is a trigger or to graphic. But I was hoping for the erections to go away when I started the anti-androgens. But 17 months in and I am still able. Or let me rephrase that. Still get them more often than I like.

I love my wife very much. And for me the ability is something I would like to keep at least for now. It’s a kind of a weird thing. I want it gone. But don’t plan on getting rid of it. But in the future depending on my wife staying or leaving might affect that decision. If that makes sense.

So I am a extremely -excited- person. And right now my wife is not interested because of her self image. She is not comfortable with herself. Yesterday just thinking about stuff and it happened. And not slightly. I was full blown and rock hard. And the only way to stop it is to take care of it. Or it would happen again and I don’t want that. At this time in my transition I would not mind one bit if it never worked again. I am flip flopping right now as I write this. Maybe I do want it gone. Its driving me nuts. I don’t think I could turn down an offer to get SRS if it was presented to me. I don’t know. Aaaaaahhhhh!!!!!

Well anyway. Right now I have extreme pain when it happens. And that is the main thing I need to stop and all the research I have done says even an orchiectomy would not stop it.

Why cant I be like others. Take my hormones and the want be gone? In the beginning it did go away. But now it’s back with a vengeance. I’m -excited- all the time. And when it happens the pain is there and it does not shrink back down to normal for a few days. So I have pain right now. And it’s been a couple of days.

I talked to my my doctor and she thinks the spiro might be the cause of the pain. So she told me to stop taking it. The Progesterone and Estradiol should keep the T down without it. And the pain should go away. I am hoping she is right. But I get this feeling the only way is SRS. And no way way while I am with my wife do I think that could happen. Even knowing my insurance will cover it. It’s just so aggravating.

Thank you you for letting me vent. Had to get it out. Aaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!

Nora

Before SRS, i would only get them occasionally after over a year on HRT. But, ithey did ache, and I wanted them gone as soon as possible.

Did you tell the doctor about that phenomena, of the erection lasting that long?  That sounds more like a problem for a urologist and may be more than just the medications.

TMI warning!!

With that question asked, I will say that I did have some real nasty and painful erections at about 10 months into HRT on Estrogen only*, the last one occurred at night as what used to be wet dreams, but that time it felt like someone was doing surgery on me with a dull stiletto knife without benefit of anesthetic.  I literally thrashed about in the bed so hard I fell out and woke up between mattress top and the floor, doing damage to one elbow.  After that experience I no longer became engorged but did maintain sensitivity which took a slight vacation right after  my GCS, but did come back to my neo-clitoris at about 11 months post.

*My Spiro came after this event for blood pressure control only, when a diuretic I had been using kept crashing my potassium levels and making me miserable for other reasons. I still use it Post Op.

Mine were painful for about eighteen months. Three years on hrt I can still function and have no pain at all. The fact you are in pain for a few days after is a red flag for me. Also, I have never read that estrogen or progesterone drops T levels. I'm so sorry you're experiencing this but I think you need to do some serious research. Best of luck....

I had my pellets reupped on Monday. At first I thought that was the problem (needing more estrogen in my system) because it seemed like I could not get one. But then I started getting -excited- and wallah. But the pain was less and went away quickly after I took care of it. Feels weird talking about this but if it may help someone else in the future then I’m ok. I have a blood test in 6 weeks to see if the Estrodiol and progesterone by itself will keep the T down or not. But so far without the spiro or bicalutamide. I don’t feel any different. Except that if I try I can keep it (erections) from happening if I don’t think about it. So all and all reupping my pellets and stopping the anti androgens seem to be helping.

The counseling session was heated, if you could call it a counseling session.  Sometimes Lois felt he was on Odie's side, and sometimes on hers.  When he was on her side, Odie got defensive. She found herself being defensive when it seemed they were ganging up on each other.   "This is not working," Lois said angrily, and walked out.  "Never again. I want my husband back. Dr. Smith you are complicit in this."   "What?" said Odie.   The counselor looked at him.  "You will have to learn some listening skills."   "That is it? Listening skills?  You just destroyed my marriage, and you told me I need to learn listening skills?"   Dr. Smith said calmly,"I think you both need to cool off."   Odie looked at him and walked out, saying "And you call yourself a counselor."   "Wait a minute."   "No."

I have read some of it, mostly in areas specifically targeted at the LGBTQ+ peoples.   You also have to take into account what and who is behind the words, not just the words themselves. Together that creates context, right? Let's take some examples, under the Department of Health & Human Services section:   "Radical actors inside and outside government are promoting harmful identity politics that replaces biological sex with subjective notions of “gender identity” and bases a person’s worth on his or her race, sex, or other identities. This destructive dogma, under the guise of “equity,” threatens American’s fundamental liberties as well as the health and well-being of children and adults alike."   or   "Families comprised of a married mother, father, and their children are the foundation of a well-ordered nation and healthy society. Unfortunately, family policies and programs under President Biden’s HHS are fraught with agenda items focusing on “LGBTQ+ equity,” subsidizing single-motherhood, disincentivizing work, and penalizing marriage. These policies should be repealed and replaced by policies that support the formation of stable, married, nuclear families."   From a wording perspective, who doesn't want to protect the health and well-being of Americans or think that families aren't good for America? But let's take a look at the author, Roger Severino. He's well-quoted to be against LGBTQ+ anything, has standard christian nationalist views, supports conversion therapy, etc.   So when he uses words like "threatens the health and well-being of children and adults alike" it's not about actual health, it's about enforcing cis-gendered ideology because he (and the rest of the Heritage Foundation) believe LGBTQ+ people and communities are harmful. Or when he invokes the family through the lens of, let's just say dog whistles including the "penalization of marriage" (how and where?!), he idealizes families involving marriage of a "biological male to a biological female" and associates LGBTQ+ family equity as something unhealthy.   Who are the radical actors? Who is telling people to be trans, gay, or queer in general? No one. The idea that there can be any sort of equity between LGBTQ+ people and "normal" cis people is abhorrent to the author, so the loaded language of radical/destructive/guise/threaten are used. Families that he believes are "good" are stable/well-ordered/healthy, specifically married/nuclear ones.   Start looking into intersectionality of oppression of non-privileged groups and how that affects the concept of the family and you will understand that these platitudes are thinly veiled wrappers for christian nationalist ideology.   What's wrong with equity for queer families, to allow them full rights as parents, who are bringing up smart and able children? Or single mothers who are working three jobs to get food on plates?

Well yesterday didn't work like I wanted to. I met a guy and started talking and he was wanting to be in a relationship. I asked my kids on how they thought of me dating a man and they said gross and said no. I guess it's time to look for women. I think that is going to be harder. Oh well I guess.

This topic reminds me of the lyrics to the Beatles song, "A Little Help From My Friends."   "What do you see when you turn out the lights?"   "I can't tell you but I know it's mine."   Carolyn Marie

@Ivy have you read the actual document?   Has anyone else out there read it?
    • Abigail Genevieve
I am reading the Project 2025 document https://www.project2025.org/policy/   This will take some time.  I read the forward and I want to read it again later.   I read some criticism of it outside here and I will be looking for it in the light of what has been posted here and there.  Some of the criticism is bosh.   @MaeBe have you read the actual document?
