5 Years Ago Today

5 years ago today at about 10:30 in the morning I zipped up my larger suitcase and my smaller "carry on luggage" bag and tossed them into my truck, went back into my house to check on gas appliances (set the water heater to 'vacation' mode) and be sure my furnace was turned off even though our weather was exceptionally cold at this time that year, did another round of the water faucets and checked that I was leaving certain lights on, and others off.  I had told my neighbors (who knew and accepted me as Trans) that I would be gone for nearly 3 weeks on a trip to San Mateo California the day before, and knew they would be watching my house for me, as I often did for them.  They even had told me to have a great vacation, and meant it with very good hearts.  At about 11:00 AM I backed my truck out of the driveway and headed out 75 miles north to the house of two people who would be going on the trip with me.  These folks knew what my neighbors had not been told, that I was going up to San Mateo to have my GCS with Dr. Marci Bowers in Mills Peninsula Hospital on January 15th 2013.  From my friends' house it was another 800 miles up to San Mateo, but they had wanted to make the trip a vacation trip for them (with my paying the hotel bills) and so we had stopped 300 miles north of them at a spot they had wanted to visit.  Except for the fact that one of my dental crowns decided to come off, at dinner that night (for being famous for steaks, my piece of meat was not all that great which contributed to the dental issue -- dang stuff was tough!!) the trip was uneventful and pleasant but getting colder as we got nearer the San Francisco area.  I was getting excited, but I had been that way since the week before Christmas, and the fact I was off of my Spiro did give me a bit more impatience that I was having to control but still I was happier and calmer than I had been before.  We got to the Marriott Hotel I had booked for the next 10 days about noon on the 13th and decided I could afford an upgrade to a larger suite, which I am glad I did, and that night we went to my last pre-surgery  dinner at a restaurant I liked on San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf.  Monday morning was clear liquids only, a final office visit with Dr. Bowers, a visit to the pre-surgery folks at the hospital where one more EKG was done, and then back to the hotel to begin my internal cleansing with a drink that smelled like Anti-freeze for the rest of the day and evening.  My escorts went out and had fun with a good dinner and some shopping.  I was just glad we had asked for extra toilet paper for the hotel room.

I made a goodly number of posts here during January 11/2013 and about April in both the Surgeries and the Post Op forums for anyone who cares to read them.   It began a new, somewhat uncomfortable period of life, but one that continues and keeps me here for those just reaching those places.

I really wish you hadn't mentioned the "anti-freeze". LOL? I had to drink that stuff for something else. YUK?!  Nice end results, though!

Happy anniversary!

Lots of love,

Indeed, "it all came out in the end!"!

You must be having a wonderful day on this very special anniversary! I'm happy for you. Thanks for sharing the event with us in such rich detail. Surprising that you would remember the bad steak, but not surprising that you would remember the Anti-freeze drink and its effects! I too have been forced to drink this swill - yuck. Not fun, but necessary :)

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie

I am in too good a mood to earn my certificate today. I am sure something will happen that will put me on the path to earning it.

It's likely most cis-women consider a fitting unnecessary "because they know what  they wear" and get used to the wrong size.  The instructions for what your size is are simple and why go to any further effort?  You measure your bandsize and you measure your max and subtract the two to get the needed info for the cup size.  Then you buy the same size for years until it hurts or something.

Congratulations Lorelei! Yes, it is a powerful feeling to have the documents that say "you are you".

Here is space for discussion on this, since the topic is large and could derail another thread SOMEBODY started.   Could some dear, sweet, kind Moderator pull everything related to this from the Voting for Trump thread and put it here?  I don't know if you can do that; I am the new girl on the block after all (blinks sweetly).

I will have arrived when I have a b*tch certificate of my own.  I think someone called me one once.

Good morning everyone,   It’s Thursday well as least I took my Thursday Medications as sorted out in my weekly dispensary caddy. Today’s coffee is Folgers Breakfast Blend served HOT, black and strong. My wife and I are going to explore the Western and Southern coasts of Saginaw Bay and hang out in Bay City, MI. today.    @Willowonce @Abigail Genevievepointed out the word usage in your post. I read it and laughed, enjoying the snarky tone of the comment. Since it was spelled correctly I thought maybe you meant for it to read just as you typed it. Then the kinder gentler me thought it would be better if I changed it. I’m not saying I corrected it, I just changed the severity of the sentence.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
