This kind of attack is scary to say the least.  It's just another indication that the present administration has opened up the legitimizing of hate in the attempt to drive us back into the closet.

I had read another report on this that was a little more news and lighter on the outrage that the shooter was a person who had been denied entry to the bar.  I understand the pain and outrage of the victims, but I have been in Las Vegas enough times to know that shootings into the smaller bars and lounges do occur often enough that the major LV news sources do not make headlines of them.  To us as Trans people, one of our own getting a dose of "lead poisoning" seems like a major issue, but it is not one to the people buying the newspapers or advertising in them.  There is one reason people may be turned away from bars of that type there, and the reason is that they are already too drunk to really be safe.  Drunk with a gun does not equate to knowing or hating Trans folks.  For Las Vegas, Trans or Cis, a bar that is not one of the major casino, being the target of a shooting is not really news I am afraid.

 

("Lead poisoning" is an ancient slang term for bullet wound.)

It may seem like Trans folk are becoming marginalized again but from my perspective and what I have been experiancing I am not so sure.

Hate doesn't really have glasses, just a chip on its shoulders.
