Dysphoria

No matter what I do my chest feels absolutely huge. I feel like even my binders don't help anymore. It makes me feel so dysphoric and I lose all self confidence whatsoever.

Actual sizes aside, I think we naturally see things about ourselves which we don't think perfect, and in our minds can blow the issue out of all proportion. From my view of myself, I live by physically doing as much as I can, and mentally 'forgetting' that my male side exists (I am MTF). Not suffering, in general, with physical dysphoria, just mainly social, it works for me, but can imagine it being a bigger problem. It is something many of us have issues with (that includes cis people as well, in their own ways), but with trans folk it is a bigger issue that often needs professional assistance.

Hi Hayden,

I can totally understand what you mean, in a bit of a different way, but still, just the same it’s very disorienting, I was just talking with my therapist about this very thing and it’s really hard to get a grip on since it’s rather subjective and we are so much harder on ourselves rather than the reality of the people around us. I wish I had some decent advice for you but I’m not much of an expert, I do know that talking about it helps me an enormous amount which is one of the reasons I love this forum and all of the people here. I have gained such immense understanding and courage from The wonderful people here. I hope you feel welcome and have positive experiences discussing this with others, I certainly have, it’s so valuable to me I need it just about as much as air these days.

squishy hugs,

Jae

I totally understand what you're experiencing. My current binder doesn't fit as well anymore because I've started losing weight so it doesn't bind as good and it makes me notice my chest way more, almost like I'm wearing a sports bra and not a binder. I have good days and bad days when it comes to my dysphoria with my chest. Most of the time, I can avoid having a bad day by wearing a shirt that doesn't accentuate my bound chest. That seems to help me some and I don't know if it would help you. I've already decided that I will not be binding forever. Once I've been on T long enough, I will be pursuing having top surgery. I have a friend who had his top surgery done by a great surgeon here in Texas and I will be using them, as well.
