Shaving

Hey All:

So wanted to share the joy's of shaving my legs now and also how I have noticed that since being on hormones that my body hair has slowed down and it has been easier to shave it away and make it nice and smooth.  It is just so much a joy and really enjoy it with how closer it is for me.  How many others enjoy the fact of shaving?

Lots of love

The big benefit of shaving to me was how soft everything felt.  Even my jeans, which you wouldn't normally think of as soft.  It's amazing how tiny little hairs - or their absence - can make such a huge difference.

I used to shave my legs in the winter before I came out.  There's not much hair there but the softness while wearing slacks or jeans is amazing.  Not to mention sleeping which is a whole other thing.   Enjoy yourself and have fun Amy!

I enjoy the way pantyhose and silky slips under my dresses feel. Not only that, but I love the way they look!

I found the same as others. everything feels so comfortable these days. Shaving is a bind, but with practice it can be accomplished quickly (a full length mirror would be useful though :D ).

I absolutely love the way it feels, like I could count the air molecules passing as I walk through the room before I get my pajamas on. Then again my cookie monster pajama pants and Roger rabbit T-shirt feel nice after a full body shave too!  Oddly my wife just doesn’t get it and I kind of thought she would ...

I generally enjoy having zero body hair.  It is one of the things that just "feels right."  I saw a picture of myself without a shirt on with hair on my tummy and chest, and I thought it looks very strange.

Even as a young boy and as I started my transitioning my leg hair was blonde and very fine. It still is to this day on my legs making it very easy and enjoyable for me to shave my legs.

I really want to get out the waxing kit my wife bought for me and explore that process a bit... but I find that I get impatient and grab the razor in the shower too often!

Link to comment

Heck, I pour a bath and add a bath bomb or some bubble bath and turn it into an hour long session of self-care. Sit and soak for a few, take in the pretty aroma scent, then grab the shave gel and razor and get started. Take your time so you don't miss any spots, don't forget your feet and your toes. Then drain the water, do a quick shower to rinse off, then towel dry and finish with lotion. (doesn't have to be fancy. I use Vaseline intensive care essential healing or Jergens)

Just be careful getting up because the tub might be slippery from the bath bomb or the bubble bath....

Of course I do! Pokémon pj bottoms are my second fav... Funny thing is my wife bought them for me years ago! I still find it hard to believe when she says that she had no idea.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have not started HRT yet, I am still in the NHS waiting system.

But I love a hair free body and for a couple of months I stuck to it but it was everyday maintenance and I had stubble in a few hours which was devastating, the itching was unbearable which always occurs at night so it made going to sleep difficult so I had no choice but to stop.

I am really looking forward to that part in HRT as its gutting being hairy.

I now give myself a no.1 with the clippers every few weeks.

Rather than shaving, you might try an epilator. I do have to warn you that's it's painful but it lessens over time.

Hi Maryellen, I did buy the top of the range braun epilator in the hope it would weaken the hair overtime, but again I had the same issues and think I will have to wait for HRT and the hair growth to weaken.

I do regular shave the armpits still, its the only part I can really keep feminine without any issues, I just wish my grew as aggressively on my head as it does my body.

I'm lucky in that I don't have much chest hair, so I use Nair for that area. I haven't tried it anywhere else yet.

I badly nicked the back of my left calf at the Achilles tendon last night! Dang it! My wife told me I need to stretch my toes up to smooth out that spot before shaving, and while I love the tips, this comes from someone that ridicules me for shaving at all... What's the deal with that?

Jae

You know, I have tried several different things to shave with, and it seems to me that the triple blade razor does a fair job, then again it’s just the kind I would use on my face, I think it’s a Gillette Mach 3. The Braun electric small head German razor I bought nocks things down but doesn’t give you a close shave and my wife’s old pink lady electric razor that you can use wet honestly doesn’t do much either. The weird thing is I’m finding that Even with a three blade razor the hairs on my chest seem to lay over flat and not get shaved off, no matter what direction I try to shave in. Is there some sort of difference between a ladies razor for her legs and a man’s razor for his face? Is the man’s razor cut geometry different to survive the thicker more brutal copper like facial hairs and a womans razor geometry more sharp and narrow to handle delicate trimming?

My body must have been trying super hard to make boy hair because ever since my 6th month of E, leg and body hair are so fine and far between that a simple women's razor does the only little bit needed.  My beard was always very sparse and grew in patches that would never have made a full beard and I never really had beard shadow.  I did use women's shaving gel, but now the bath soap is fine for what little I do.  Arm hair is also so fine and it is till light blond that I never think about it.

I’ve been shaving my legs, chest and underarms for some time now.  Like others the problem with shaving is growth stubble. I tried Nair but it only lasted marginally longer.   I tried waxing.  Waxing does last longer, but you have to let the hair grow out enough for the wax to stick to it.  Also, there is soft wax and hard wax.  Be sure you read up on which to use and how as they are different.  I’m on the fence but I think I’ll stick with waxing one more time time before going back to shaving.

Well, I’m about to walk in to Patty‘s office for two hours of electrocution, but I enjoy talking to Patty so much the time flies by and I guess I have a high pain tolerance as it doesn’t bother me much, I guess that’s a good thing. That 14 years of excruciating leg pain is paying off finally ...

My leg hair is much finer now however I have become really lazy about shaving and seldom can find time for it.

I am more fussy about arm and chest hair so that get done but still HRT has taken a lot of the immediacy out of shaving.

After the surgery I was only allowed to shower for a while and I normally do all that stuff when I have a bath.

I guess I got out of the habit.

Because I only have a bath just before changing my patches it also requires that I have time and I seldom do.

Transitioning can be exhausting especially when you are in the middle of it and I had to skip a week with electrolysis even though she had said she would make it a freebie if money was the issue.

Right shaving is getting the loose finger for a while.

I have never had hardly any body hair other than the crotch and underarms and a small amount on my legs which hasn't grown back after being on hormones for years and shaving several times. It used to bother me when I was much younger before I ever considered transition, it left me feeling less mannish than my other friends who had lots of body hair. I still have to shave my face although it's very light after a few years of bi-monthly sessions at the electrologists. I finally got tired of that routine and called it quits since my remaining facial hair is pretty light and I had decided not to take my transition to a total female conclusion. Let me advise those who are just beginning their transition who are going all the way, to get hooked up with an electrologist and get started with the facial clearing right away. It's a lengthy and costly process that will go on throughout the duration of your transition, and you want to have concluded it by the time you have SRS and fully emerge as a woman.

My view is we are "dependent" on government, because as a society, we are too lazy to stay actively involved. So, we let politicians do our bidding for us.  I think we'd be in a better place government wise if we policed the actions of our politicians.  We elected them; they work for us.  Sadly, we are allowing them to run amok.  We are where we are because we have chosen to let politicians make all decisions without us.  Remember "by the people, for the people?" That was the intent of our democracy.  Today, however, it is "by the politicians, for the politicians," the people be damned.

"Play Ball! Batter Up!" is the closing line of the National Anthem as far as I'm concerned. It's the call of the Home Plate Umpire and signals the start of the game. I grew up in the TV and Radio broadcast of the St. Louis Cardinals. Harry Caray, Jack Buck, Tim McCarver, and Mike Shannon, were the voices on my transistor radio. KMOX 1120 AM pushing 50,000 watts of Class A clear-channel non-directional signal. It could be picked up all across MO, IL, IN to the East. KS, OK, CO to the West. IA, MN to the North, and KY, TN, AR to the South. There has always been a rivalry against the Chicago Cubs, in the National League. As for the American League, I have to pull for the Kansas City Royals. I've also been a Little League Umpire, and fan of everything the Little League stands for. Going to Williamsport, PA and seeing the Little League World Series is in my top 10 things to do on my bucket list.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Good evening everyone,   I don't think my mother ever cooked a meal that I didn't like. We also had a kitchen where mom fixed the food, dad filled your plate, and you eat it. It wasn't until our baby brother was born that we could have Pop-Tarts for snacks. Before that all snacks had to meet mom's approval, and in her opinion wouldn't prevent you from eating supper.   Well my day started off on a good note, but has become frustrating because my IT person didn't transfer my saved videos I use for teaching. Then I found out that they didn't save any of my book marks for websites I use frequently.   Best wishes, stay motivated,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

The number is relative to method of deliver, the time of the dose, and when the blood is drawn. However, I do want to keep away from DVT and other potential issues. I assume I may be getting backed down from my current dose, but my doc told me to stick with the higher dose, so? I also wonder if this has anything to do the my breast growth and mental changes that have been happening over the past few years, like I have some estrogen sensitivity so a little goes a long way or something? I don't have enough data to postulate, but who knows!   With weekly, subcutaneous, shots you expect to see big swings of serum level estradiol from shot to peak to trough. My doctor is interested in mid-week testing (for E and T levels only), which would be post-peak blood serum levels but they will be higher than trough. Most, if not all, resources I've seen online is to measure at trough (which I might do just to do it next time) along with a SHBG, LH, and other metrics.   This is from transfemscience.org for Estradiol valerate in oil, which is very spiky compared to some other estradiol combinations. It's also for intramuscular, which will have a slower uptake and is usually dosed in higher volume due to the slower absorption rate from muscles. They don't have subcutaneous numbers, which I would expect to see similar spikes but higher levels at similar doses due to the relatively higher absorption rate direct from fat.   Are you doing pills, shots, or patches? And when you do get your levels checked are you getting that done when your levels are lowest or some other time?

Both of my parents were from the “North Shore” of Boston.  My mother Lynn and my father Swampscot.  They had an early 1900s Scots-Irish New England diet.  My sister and I were born in the 40s in Ohio well away from New England seafood and in an area where food was more German and Polish.  My first experience with liver and onions was during basic training.  They ate salt cod but never forced us to eat it same with oysters.  My dad ate oysters but my mother wouldn’t.  Anyone who ever ate an oyster can figure that one out.  I grew up eating lamb.  My wife won’t touch it. I love brazed ox tail, again no way. And the list goes on.

My mother was German, so yes, I think it was a cultural thing.  If I'd known you when we were cleaning out my mother's place, I could have sent you her "threat jar".

Wow that is a high number for Estradiol good grief! Testosterone levels are better than mine. I don't remember my Estradiol level but testosterone was 80. To me that is really high but it was in the two hundreds the check in before last one.

I don't understand why this would make a difference being a "dad" I mean, as far as how they would grow.
    • Ashley0616
I don't see why not. I have worn forms since I came out.
    • MaeBe
I have never worn breastforms, but I assume as long as they don't aggravate your nipples you could.

Every week I've been excited to take my shot, so it's never been an issue. Yesterday, however, I woke up and started my usual "slow roll" and then suddenly realized I had breakfast plans that I had to rush out the door for. After, it was straight into work calls, and then I got the notification from the doctor about things being too high and all the while my mind had completely slipped that I needed take my shot.   Given that I am not asking for medical advice, but sharing my journey, I will note my results: Estradiol at 447 pg/mL and Testosterone was 23 ng/dL, up and down from 26 pg/mL and 526 ng/dL respectively before treatment. Almost flipped the bit! The doc would like my Estradiol closer to 300 pg/mL, so we'll see what Monday's tests state.   Oh, and I teased the dinner with old soccer teammates and never updated the thread! It went well. There were a couple funny moments. One guy, who I was worried about their response, greeted me with "Hey, you've lost some weight!" 😎 And a friend who lives near me picked me up on the way to dinner exclaimed, after we learned one of the invitees might show up with a date, "Wait! We could have brought women?!" To which I instantly responded, "You kind of did, bringing me!" Everyone got a good laugh out of that. 😁

To me there isn't that much difference other the measurement, which side the zipper is on and men's pants have bigger pockets.

I hope this is not stupid question..I have yet to start n not sure if doc will approve..but once you start growing buds n such, can you still wear forms to get to the size you were?   I'm a dad, so when I start blossoms they will be smaller for a long time n probably need surgical augmented..that's fine. I don't want to go ddd to aa to ddd..   any ideas?   thank you
