5 months on HRT

Hello All:

 

So I just would like to share that is has been 5 months for me on HRT.  I got to see my E and T numbers early before going to see my doctor.  I will be going to see my doctor on Tuesday May 22nd.  I am going to talk to my doctor about possibility changing from the patches to the injectables.  Being on the patches, I do not really think that they are working.  So I do fully understand transition takes time and it's just going through puberty again.  But my E number is very low and I am not really liking how low they are and thinking it should be a little higher.  So my E is 26 and my T is 16.  I am no doctor, but to have an E to be at 26 seems too low.  Then not to mention the main reason why I want to get off the patches is that they peel off.  No matter how clean and dry of an area and also making sure no hair to have it very smooth.  The patches have been peeling off in the shower, changing clothes, even going to the wash room.  

 

So for me the patches are not right.  I have been thinking on the injectables with how more and more people telling me how the injectables are and also how they tend to show signs usually faster.  Anyone can give me any insight into the injectables?

I have been on the patches about 5-6 months, hrt total of 9 months. The patches come loose sometimes but I tape them so far so good.

Hi Amy, I've used a self injection regimen of Estradiol for approaching 6 years now. It's been economical and quite effective HRT. I get checked twice a year with my doc. It took a little while to train myself to give myself a shot, but it's worked out very well now....

 

Prior to that I used patches for about 14 months with only marginal results. Never was able to achieve blood E levels in the female normal range with them.

Hello All:

 

So I saw my doctor today and she was glad that I came in early.  After going over my blood numbers and also talking about the patches not staying on, she agreed on the patches are not working and yes lets get me off the patches and we have switched me to the injections once a week to get me setup on a good redigement and to make sure that it will work.  I am so happy that in the office the nurses first showed me how to do the injections and then they had me do the injection myself under their supervision to make sure that I am doing it safe and correct with making sure I am comfortable.  When I did my first injection myself into my thigh and I grab as much meat as possible, it did not hurt but felt like a light pin prick and went right into me and was fine.

 

Hoping the injections will be better
