Have a read. It was too early in the morning to get in arguments with my cis friends over this article, but I thought it'd be good to bring it here for you all to see.

Share your thoughts. Personally I find that the way we currently deal with transgender youth with hormone blockers to be a good solution, and I'm not sure if full HRT is the answer, despite the fact I don't think there's much risk from it as longer as the individual for sure wants to transition. But the doctor talks about lessening GD, and I'm not 100% certain this would help either way. I am more of the leaning that some GD is caused by family, life situations, and by allowing someone to transition it helps relieve it. The only thing I can see here is it may help affirm the individual that they're doing the right thing, and maybe help encourage parents that they are as well.

This is interesting. The problems tend to come when people try and apply a binary to differences. For any complex biological trait there is always going to be a range or spectrum, with overlapping bell curves that may have peaks that fall in different places determining what those differences are, not clear-cut either-or situations where every person falls into one or the other of discrete categories.

Still, I think in time this could be a tool to help confirm what trans kids already say.

Yep! Also great to be able to point to evidence that being trans is not a "lifestyle choice". ?

but you could also argue that with transgender the brain is already female in mtf or male in ftm as the complex emotions wanting to be the opposite sex maybe its not the hrt changing the brain maybe its the brain accepting ur decision to correct things if that makes sense

This is ONE study on a distinct piece of the situation, there are others out there in youth, adolescents, and adults with slightly different angles of observation and the common issue being that those other brain structures which include hormone receptor cell and gene groups all show differences from the procreative organ assignment norm of gender assignment.  Put more simply, gender dysphoria has multiple sources and each person has a unique combination of those sources and some are highly pronounced while others are more subtle, maybe to the point of NOT being dysphoria producing.  Still other studies do show that acceptance by society and family members of the Gender Diversity of the individual reduces stress to a point where our suicide/self harm levels fall below the national average for those behaviors.  (Not by much, but still less.)

I do read and soak up this stuff and it is fun watching this develop.
