finding a therapist

i wouldlike to know what to look for in a good therapist so i can find one who wont judge me or try to tell me that i am not what i am. thanks all??

1)   They are not affiliated with a religious organization, nor are recommended by those organizations, especially in your state where Conversion Therapy is still legal.  Conversion or Repairative Therapy attempt to change your gender feelings to your birth assigned gender.  They do not work, and end up with suicide ideations.

 

2)  They have a good reputation in the LGBT community in your area for being ethical and affirming.

 

3)  They are licensed by your state and have Educational Credentials from a Non-religious college or university.

 

4)  Pre-interview them and ask them if they subscribe to the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) Standards Of Care V.7.

 

5) Do they follow the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the American Psychological Association and the American Psychiatric Association.   --

 

6)  Be sure they do not adhere to policies of the American College of Pediatrics, which is a bogus medical association, and an active hate group.

 

Maybe not what you were really looking for, but they will help you find someone who is OK to start with, and just because the person expresses doubts at some point, just means that YOU need to be a bit more honest with yourself and resolves the doubts in your mind first.  There are no single answers or set list of things to do and for your own sake do not try to snow them with your dishonesty looking for a "perfect" "magical" answer.

I ate looked at some in my state and have found a couple I do like. I will say that when I do see one. I am and will be honest. I do know what I am. In the wrong body and have know for along time. I will try the advice you have said and hopefully things will go right and I can get on with hrt therapy. Right now that and getting out and showing my true self and being happy are the most important things now. I even just got done putting finger nail polish on my fingers before I go to bed in a few.
