Living Full Time

Hello All

So I want to ask about finally being able to live full time as the woman that I want to be.  So my family and friends all know since I have come out to them.  I have started to come out to my new job where the individuals I work with in Phoenix and my HR rep knows and now I would love to start being able to live full time.  On my time off from work, I am finding myself always dressed as myself.  I just need to officially come out at work.  I have been now really thinking on going and getting my name leagelly changed with my gender markers from the court to the SSN to the DMV,

Well it seems you have a good start going.  What else do you need to do to make it official at work?  Getting the document to change your name and gender marker would be awesome.

Hello Jani

So with me working on my homework from my therapist, that is one of the questions on my homework is to make the legal change at work.  I can come in fully dressed as myself.  But for the remote facilities, Will need to actually do the court for the name change first so I can then go to the SSN office to get that changed and then to the DMV to have that changed.  Then work can officially change everything in one sitting with letting everyone know that I am now to be addressed as Amy and not James and my insurance will be changed over to female along with all the other paperwork.

Lots of Love

I am in California. I just needed my Doctor to prove I'm under treatment and presenting female full time and file with county court. It's final July 13, 2018. I go to DMV and SS July 16. My Trans Health group is going to be there for photo op

The process of name change and SS change was so validating somehow.  It was as much perhaps making that declaration to the world as it was getting past awkward times when i had to show an ID.

It is wonderful to read of others finding the same comfort with themselves and the world.

Hugs,

Hi Amy, the legal name change pays you back into the future, so many times. If you are planning on coming out at work, then it's a step certainly worth considering. For someone transitioning the legal name change / gender marker is one of the premier events, so many things fall in line after that....

Best to you

Hello CyndiRae:

Thank you so much.  I have slowly come out to work where I came out to my supervisor and co-worker since it's just the 3 of us that work together since the main office building is in Chicago.  Then I just recently came out to my HR rep.  She was wonderful and is ready for me to inform her when I am ready to take the next step.  I do want my body to get more female like with the hormones and glad that I am on the injections now from the patches.  But I do have my wig that will help me out and have worked for years on trying to pass as a woman.  I have worked well before the hormones and the talking to my therapist that I have tried to make myself look as real as possible as a woman and even have pictures of me trying  to look female and when I have looked at those pictures compared to my recent pictures, I cannot believe how far I have come.

Lots of Love

The one thing about this position, if you want more hours just wait and be flexible.  I’m now working until 7:30 pm instead of 4:30.

I hope your head cold goes away soon! Sorry you have to cut grass with that.   Love the new t-shirt   I love that one.    What Jeep would you want to get? That is awesome about your wife getting better!

Welcome Mattie! I would recommend the first step is finding a gender therapist and see if you are or aren't. Then one of the biggest steps if you are do you want to start hormone replacement therapy. The decision should be thought long and hard. There are irreversible effects. Looking forward to your next post! Take care!

@Willow, it's great to hear about your wife's progress! It's also fun to hear about day-to-day stuff, like work. It's nice to think of this thread as a kind of morning chit chat place to go, like if we had a big table at The Daily Grind and were just listening and sharing over our morning brews.
