NO MORE TRANS... IN BULGARIA

Guest

Recommended Posts

Dear readers,

You are reading the words of a ghost!

The words of a delusion...

Bulgarian Constitutional Court decided that gender, gender identity, transgender are not Constitutional, in a court decision related to the so called Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention) . Thanks to the pressure applied by evangelistic, fascistic and pseudo-family oriented groups, by reading materials written by transphobes,  by laying on their illiteracy on the topic and refusing to listen modern arguments, the judges (most of them women) decided that the Convention and the fake 'gender ideology' where they are putting the transgender issues are against our Prime law.

We don't need powerful being to erase us - the trans population of Bulgaria. We don't need a finger's snap or spell like 'No More Trans'... Our judges in the high court decide it, and prove that the hate, illiteracy, the abuse,  the discrimination, the lies and the anti-humanism are the main Bulgarian goals.

With the decision announcing that the only determining sex/gender is the biological one, trans people are send into nowhere. From now on it would be hard for us to change our documents, even impossible. From now on we are not human beings, officially. We are not existing!

This is what my society is capable of, our big accomplishment - to ruin lives in the name of old values and twisted faith.

Sorry to read this, this situation in your country is a symptom of a larger movement world wide, including here in the USA, where we now suffer with "Putin's Puppets".

In this world nothing is a given.

Take care, and be well.

That certainly was a heartless decision. If there's any way possible, you should immigrate to a more transgender friendly country. That's what I would try if I were in your shoes.

Wow!  But given current political climates and trends, it's not surprising.  Very disappointing...

Yes!

It's not a surprise.

They used trans women for distraction, told all the lies how the conservatives' nightmare about same-sex marriage will become fact if the convention is accepted, how the third sex will be legalized officially, etc. It was nasty campaign!

That’s crazy! So sorry for you. ?

Thank you! I have to accept that I am living in a medieval country, mask as modern one... I had done that long time ago...

This is terrible news, and like all of our other members, my heart goes out to you and all LGBT people in Bulgaria.  The return (if they ever even left) of fascism, despotism, corruption, xenophobia and antisemitism is clear as day all over Europe, even in well established democracies like Austria and Italy.  And yes, sad to say that it is making itself felt here in the U.S.

I think we can still win this fight, but a fight it will be, and all of us should do whatever we can for the cause of democracy and decency.  Our lives, literally, may depend on it.  The ballot box may be our last bastion of hope.

I am very sad to hear this Shelly. I know it is likely to be a dangerous thing for anyone to do, but as part of the Euopean Union, couldn't someone appeal to the Euopean Court to overrule any local decision (specifically the Euopean Court of Human Rights)? I know countries have vetos on certain things, but it is a condition of membership to accept the Euopean court. Economic issues specific with EU membership would likely generally far over-rule any issues with a minority which may jepardise membership.

Hi Shelly, I know this is an old thread, but I'm also a transgender Bulgarian. What our government does to people like us is beyond discrimination, and I'll say that it outright feels like a witch hunt. I believe that our involvement in the Istanbul Convention was nothing more than propaganda to fuel a far-right agenda that preaches hate and intolerance with the decoy of it being "for the sake of the children". Frankly, I'm -crap- tired of living in a country where I'm seen as a public enemy, or as damaged goods. Sadly, I don't see things changed, seeing as our country's biggest nightmare is two consensual adults of the same sex having a marriage based on respect, trust, and love. Even though I grew up here, I can't afford to be who I am: a bi trans guy in an interracial relationship (the horror!) I don't see Bulgaria as anything more than my home country.

Things are moving quickly now that I have my drivers license and social security card in my new name. It was really affirming when I got my first paycheck in my new name.

Amazingly I have found many cis women are absolutely wrong in their assumptions about bra fittings. I knew an elderly lady that said, "I have been a C cup since school, I just buy a bigger band size as my breasts grow." This is completely WRONG as the band should always fit snug with they gore firmly against the chest.    One of CNA's came into Torrid and I helped her pick out a new bra. She didn't even understand band size was inches and cups/band combo were based off Victorian shirt sizes.  She said, "how do you know so much?"   We found her proper fitting band size, then found a cup she fit.    How can people that take the vast majority of bra users know so little about them? Seems most cis women just use "try it on" only.

As has been said many times, this is not a black and white issue. Sure.  I get it that a MtF person that has gone through full male puberty and "transitioned" 6 months ago probably has an advantage in some sports.  But these bans affect elementary school kids too. I mean, banning trans women from Darts?  Chess?

Good morning    Now @Abigail Genevieve and @Mmindy what makes you so certain I didn’t mean it to say bee itch certificate?  lol. Thanks Mindy. I was asleep when you saw this and fixed it, and yes Abigail, as a moderator I could have fixed it myself, or weren’t you pointing out the irony of that?   I use Alexis as my alarm to get up.  And I set the ringer to be two guys telling me to get up.  I was so sound asleep when they started telling me to get up that it scared me and my first thought were I had over slept.  Since I have a difficult time getting to sleep as early as I have to in order to get enough sleep I at least cut back my normal awake time to get ready.  But now I have to do my hair and get going.   enjoyed my coffee and a little time catching up   see you all later, for its hi ho hi ho it’s off to work I go.   Willow

Republicans have long committed grave errors by emphasizing their social agenda and moral issues instead of just focusing on the economy, lowering taxes, keeping the public safe, building a strong national defense, promoting business, touting reasonable immigration policies, etc.   The country would thrive economically under Trump's tax and business policies. That's a fact. Another four years of Biden will run this country into the ground financially (including all of our 401Ks and IRAs). But the GOP continues to play right into the Dems' hands by leading with their moral crusades instead of staying the course and trusting their fiscal policies to win the day...
