Name Change

Hello All:

So I have started the process of legally changing my name.  I am looking forward to my court date and started the count down.  Looking forward to Aug. 22.  I was hoping to do my name change in December and have it as a Christmas present, but after coming out fully at work and now living full time.  I just knew it was time for me to go to court and legally change my name.  I did not have to think twice and just knew that this is the natural course.  Cannot wait to have it permanent and my name / Gender markers will be changed.

Lots of Love

Hello

Thank you.  Since the courts can get picky, I have all my letters and paperwork and copies in a folder and I even put paper clips on each set of forms to make it look neat and professional for the judge.

Cannot wait till my full name is Amy Katherine LeBlanc

That’s so great Amy!!! I am going to start looking into that this week. I didn’t realize it could be so quick though. I was hoping by Christmas myself. Maybe I’ll end up Kirsten sooner than I hope! For the most part I don’t use Michael anymore anyways.

Good luck with your court date!!

Hello Kirsten

Might want to look like into the state / county you reside in.  Cause some steps are the same and some are different.  Like I know my fellow colleague from Chicago.  She had to post in a newspaper for 6 weeks before going to court  for her name change.  So I know each state and county is different and you have to file within the state and county you reside in

Oh. Thanks for the info. I will be looking into all of that this week. I don’t mind waiting if I need to. As long as it happens eventually ?

Your Welcome Kirsten.  I just don't want to give wrong information and myself I had to ask my therapist and also ask the court clerk office in my area and that is what they told me.  So I say to check with the court clerk office in your way or maybe might be able to find it online for your area.

This is wonderful news, Amy!

Once you have that court order get your Social Security Card first. It made things so much easier for me.

It has been the single most empowering step I've made coming out for real, in the wonderfully wild REAL world.

Good luck...

Huge hugs,

Michelle

Thank You Michelle.  I am just looking forward to the day on which my name will be legal.  I am also planning on going to Sephora to have my makeup done before my hearing for something special.

It will finally be real and more comfortable to me.

Hello All

I have just finished with my court appointment and I am now legal with the courts on my name change.  I have my certified court doc on my name change.  Now I just need to do my social security and then my license.  I have my doctor letter for my gender change on my license.

Hello All:

Now that I have my certified court paper and looking forward to going to the SS office.  It has made it super easy to be dressing alot more especially since I have packed away all my male clothes.  Then to use the restrooms, I t is just natural for me to go into the women restroom.  This is just feeling more and more natural and has become very easy for me.

Congratulations Amy!  Hopefully you will find the SS office as easy as i did.  I simply showed them my documents and sat there as they worked a bit on the computer.  The only hard part was getting paged in the waiting room by my old name.

Hugs.

Hello All:

Thank you so much and I am finally happy to be Amy Katherine LeBlanc according to the courts.  Friday I went to the Social Security office and took care of everything there.  Now it's just waiting to get the system updated before going to the DMV since the DMV pulls the information from Social Security.

Hey All:

I have just completed the Social Security part.  Now I get to play the waiting game to make sure that the SS data base gets updated before going to the DMV.  But at the SS office, I got my name and gender marker changed.  I am so happy and excited.  I cannot hold it in.

Lots of Love

When I did it a few (6) years ago, the DMV here in CA accepted an SS paper receipt that showed my changes on it.  Mine was in two stages though.

Old topic, but I gotta say my favorites are: "Stop hitting on minors" (doesn't work if you're holder tho) and "Sure as [squid] not you"

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie

I am in too good a mood to earn my certificate today. I am sure something will happen that will put me on the path to earning it.

It's likely most cis-women consider a fitting unnecessary "because they know what  they wear" and get used to the wrong size.  The instructions for what your size is are simple and why go to any further effort?  You measure your bandsize and you measure your max and subtract the two to get the needed info for the cup size.  Then you buy the same size for years until it hurts or something.

Congratulations Lorelei! Yes, it is a powerful feeling to have the documents that say "you are you".

Here is space for discussion on this, since the topic is large and could derail another thread SOMEBODY started.   Could some dear, sweet, kind Moderator pull everything related to this from the Voting for Trump thread and put it here?  I don't know if you can do that; I am the new girl on the block after all (blinks sweetly).

Good morning everyone,   It’s Thursday well as least I took my Thursday Medications as sorted out in my weekly dispensary caddy. Today’s coffee is Folgers Breakfast Blend served HOT, black and strong. My wife and I are going to explore the Western and Southern coasts of Saginaw Bay and hang out in Bay City, MI. today.    @Willowonce @Abigail Genevievepointed out the word usage in your post. I read it and laughed, enjoying the snarky tone of the comment. Since it was spelled correctly I thought maybe you meant for it to read just as you typed it. Then the kinder gentler me thought it would be better if I changed it. I’m not saying I corrected it, I just changed the severity of the sentence.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
