I had a very good day yesterday. Best in a while. I got my video in and ran on the treadmill. Plus cleaned the house and did some other stuff in preparation for a party.

I ended up at 24 floors, 17200 steps for 8.1 miles. 3400 calories burned and 102 mins of activity heartbeat 111. That may be my most steps ever.

Maldonado stuck pretty well with the food too. I did have 5 beers but not much bad food. I stuck with the veggie platter for the most part. ?

tomorrow is weigh in. I’m a little nervous. I hope I’m at least 191. But won’t know thill tomorrow.

Keep up the good work everyone!

So I have not had a workout style day yesterday.  I cannot say it was a blah day cause I still lost 1lb with no workout.  I went to a big support group which was fun and met alot of new people and made friends.  I then came home and did some yard work, laundry and just moving around.  I went out to dinner with some new friends that I met from group and we had sushi.  I did stay true to my portion control and no alcohol.

I saw that I did 11000 steps, which is just amazing.  Without doing any workouts, I cannot believe that I lost 1lb still

Awesome Amy!! Don’t worry about not having a workout every day. You just need to stay in a positive healthy life view. It’s ok to have bad days as long as the good outnumber them. I had some unhealthy stuff last night. And I’m even having some today. But overall I stay on the positive side. Sounds like you’re doing good. Keep it up girl

OK girls - I need your best tips - how do I wean myself off sugar again!

It was going fine until Christmas but it has crept back in through sweets, biscuits and desserts and is now back in my coffee. I even poured maple syrup over my pork roast today to act as a glaze. This needs to stop!

I plan to loose 20 lbs for a few month now.  i am able to keep my current weight pretty much (I have this weight for years now, it is decent for a guy 6' tall), but I want to have a better waist because I gave it up being a guy!  I try to walk every day about 10000 steps and go to he gym twice a week, but the love handles i have on my hips do not want to go away.  The only thing I really achieve is that my butt is getting slim and muscular, instead of well padded!  I seem to loose any butt fat like no problem, but that waist line seems to want to keep those love handles!

Dee,  there are probably other tricks, methods or strategies to getting off sugar or at least reducing to almost nil.  I'm no expert but I can tell you a few things I've learned over the years.  I reduced all added sugar consumption by half the first week to ween my body off slowly.  The following week, I go cold turkey off cane sugar and replace all added sugars with substitutes at the same reduced levels.  It works well if you can go the full 21 days without any added cane sugar but you also need stay away from most processed foods with over 2-3gms of sugar.  I'm always looking at labels of new foods to check for this and other ingredients.  It's tough and there might be a few difficult days but I've done it.   If you can manage that 21 day period, you'll taste even a very small amount of added sugar in anything.  Citrus fruits almost become too sweet and candy becomes too rich to enjoy.

Four months ago, my wife and I stopped adding any cane sugars to anything .  We don't even have any at home. We do use substitutes but I use them sparingly.  I've tried all the substitutes (except for coconut sugar substitutes which there seem to be many now) and only two to be safer than saccharine, aspartame and sucralose and without aftertaste.  The first is "Stevia in the Raw" sweetener (Best Bulk pricing at Costco) and my favorite but most expensive is Monk Fruit extract or sweetener.  Of those two,  Monk Fruit is the best, imho.  It does cost a little more but in my coffee it would take 3 Stevia packets to give me the same sweetness as 2 Monk Fruit packets.  There is a nice blend of these two sweeteners combined in bulk at military commissaries that my daughter buys but I can't find it in a local store near me.

?  Nope - No medical history - just greed and an emotional connection/addiction to food that I know is bad for me!

When I did the meal replacement shakes for 12 weeks it was actually easier because I wasn't eating at all. I do not want to go back to that method because I still need to prepare and eat food for myself and my children this time.

Dee I can’t tell you an easy fix for it. My wife shares your need for sweets. But over the last 8 years the only thing that has gotten her off the sugar was a 30k wedding. Lol. And I DONT recommend that. ???

Umfortunately it’s a simple equation. If you put it in you, you have to work it off. That’s what it comes down to. If you eat the sugar, you run the marathons. Lol.

You need to find substitutes. Non sugar sweeteners for coffee, cut out desserts, eat fruit in place of processed sugar. But ultimately it comes down to you. You have to choose not to eat those sugar filled treats. Remember, an apple a day keeps the doctor away. ?

Not much of a weigh in today. I was the same weight as yesterday even after walking 11 miles and drinking a bunch of water and keeping my calories under 1500. I think I probably retained water because I drank something like seven 16oz bottles. I wasn’t too concerned but I was hoping for a win tomorrow.

To wit I weighed myself about 20 minutes ago and I was 205.8 which is .2 from being less then my weigh in earlier today. This is fantastic because that means at 0600 hours tomorrow I might even be under 205 pounds!

You can still eat what your children are eating just give yourself a smaller portion. Maybe also work in a good side salad for everyone too which will help fill you and provide vital nutrients. Either that or a bowl of fruit. I love mixed berries, it’s better then desert.

Then mix in some aerobic exercises and/or walking through the day.

This is so true. At Christmas I had one small strawberry milkshake and it threw me off. Sugar messes with the metabolism. I had to burn roughly twice as many calories then it contained to lose weight. The milkshake was 540 calories and because of it I was on the treadmill for  an extra three hours that day burning it off.

I might indulge in a milkshake every now and then but it’s going to be few and far between because I have decided I like my figure and health better then I like the sweets.

Susan, I've never heard of Monk Fruit - we have lots of coconut sugars available so will maybe switch back to that.

What do you do for breakfasts? My son loves poached eggs but I have a love/hate relationship with them giving me cramps and so I tend to fill up on toast if I eat at all.

Thanks Kirsten and Rithia. Once I get it out of my system I'm fine. I eat a lot of veg, but when its cold, wet and miserable salads and fruit can be hard to keep buying in.

I weighed myself this morning and have gone up 10 pounds since just before Christmas! ? ? I was so close to my target!

But I am going to a pride in a few months with my niece now (she booked our tickets yay!) so I will need to look my best so I'm starting to hold myself accountable today. Logging on this morning has helped, my morning coffee has no sugar in it and all the biscuits (cookies) and chocolates have gone in the bin!

Good morning. Well weigh in day was good. 192.2 and I have some to dump later today. So I am happy with week 1. I have lost 3 belt loops this week and I am visually much thinner than the loss I’ve had. Only problem is that my arms and legs are looking very muscular. Almost 8 months into hrt I still have that male physique for the most part. Someday it’ll get better. But for now I am just going to have to deal with noticeable biceps. ??????‍♀️?

Today I weighed in at 204.3 pounds and dropped 1.3 pounds over the weekend. I did a measurement of my hips and waist and this morning my waist was 45.6 and my hips where a few ticks past 41. Yesterday my waist line shrunk half an inch. Ultimately this is the metric I am looking to fix and get back into the 34 to 36 inch range.

Today I have weighed in at 225lbs.  A little bit down and up over the weekend.  But I am glad that it is not rising too high and it is still moving in the right direction.  I have noticed that when standing in front of the mirror naked waiting for the shower to warm up, I noticed that my stomach area is not pushing out there as much and it is starting to reside and my figure is starting to become more noticeable with getting that hour glass figure and my upper torso indented in and then I can now see my hips from others saying they can see my hips and booty.

I am continuing on working out and portion control eating

You are getting there.  I thought my forced diet of chicken soup would make me loose weight, but it did not.  Could be that i retained to much water, because that Cambel stuff is pretty salty

Thanks. Sadly I can’t lose the weight too fast or I’ll have stretch marks. One flattering thing is when I was out shopping for exercise clothes another shopper asked me in more of a statement “I had problems shaking off the pregnancy weight too.”

If I can just keep the weight loss going. On the bright side I have my Apple Watch back. Big thanks to Apple for fixing it for free!

Your stomach shrinking is a large part of the goal. It’s great that you can see the difference now. Any loss of weight is a win. You are doing great.

That’s nice. My Apple Watch seems like it has been a much larger help to me then my Fitbit. I think because it cracked the whip more and provides these nifty awards (carrots) that make me want to go a little more.

I had a fitbit, too.  My Samsung watch is so much better integrated with my Samsung phone, I just would not want to be without it anymore.

I started HRT at 172 and hung around there until about 2 months ago then, boom, up to 186. I have a Fitbit but don't really know how to read what it's telling me all that well. :(

To burn weight you need to kee an eye on the dashboard of the app on your phone. Steps are an easy metic and it also has distance in miles/meters. Then you can track your food by logging what you eat and you can also log the water to help you reach your goal of staying hydrated. Then the calories burned along with the calories ingested provide you overall metric. It’s about 3000 calories to burn a pound. So for me to lose a half pound a day I need to eat 1500 calories or less and burn 3000 calories in a day.

you don’t want to dip below 1200 calories in a day too often or you will lose lean muscle.

The reason son I like the Apple Watch better is it more intuitive but the Fitbit does have everything needed to help you track your calories so you can apply the law of thermal dynamics to burn the fat off.

Would like to add to remember that the older you are the harder it is to lose weight and it is because of your metabolism slows down as we all age, so the key is also, working on getting your metabolism up to help burn off the calories you ate or drank during the day.

I’m 37 and I can burn a little over a pound overnight just sleeping. I think the metabolism slowing down has more to do with health condition. As we get older most people get out of shape hence older people have a slower metabolism. That is my hypothesis.

CAT FACTS A cat's jaw cannot move sideways. The only domestic animal not mentioned in the Bible is the cat   A house cat’s genome is 95.6 percent tiger, and they share many behaviors with their jungle ancestors, says Layla Morgan Wilde, a cat behavior expert and the founder of Cat Wisdom 101. These behaviors include scent marking by scratching, prey play, prey stalking, pouncing, chinning, and urine marking. Cats are believed to be the only mammals who don’t taste sweetness. Cats are nearsighted, but their peripheral vision and night vision are much better than that of humans. Cats are supposed to have 18 toes (five toes on each front paw; four toes on each back paw). Cats can jump up to six times their length. Cats’ claws all curve downward, which means that they can’t climb down trees head-first. Instead, they have to back down the trunk. Cats’ collarbones don’t connect to their other bones, as these bones are buried in their shoulder muscles. Cats have 230 bones, while humans only have 206. Cats have an extra organ that allows them to taste scents on the air, which is why your cat stares at you with her mouth open from time to time. Cats have whiskers on the backs of their front legs, as well. Cats have nearly twice the amount of neurons in their cerebral cortex as dogs. Cats have the largest eyes relative to their head size of any mammal. Cats make very little noise when they walk around. The thick, soft pads on their paws allow them to sneak up on their prey — or you! Cats’ rough tongues can lick a bone clean of any shred of meat. Cats use their long tails to balance themselves when they’re jumping or walking along narrow ledges. Cats use their whiskers to “feel” the world around them in an effort to determine which small spaces they can fit into. A cat’s whiskers are generally about the same width as its body. (This is why you should never, EVER cut their whiskers.) Cats walk like camels and giraffes: They move both of their right feet first, then move both of their left feet. No other animals walk this way. Male cats are more likely to be left-pawed, while female cats are more likely to be right-pawed. Though cats can notice the fast movements of their prey, it often seems to them that slow-moving objects are actually stagnant. Some cats are ambidextrous, but 40 percent are either left- or right-pawed. Some cats can swim. There are cats who have more than 18 toes. These extra-digit felines are referred to as being “polydactyl.”

Good morning,   I over slept yesterday was a couple minutes late clocking in.  But no breakfast or coffee.  Got caught up but it was go go go all morning.  I had to ask for a refresher on how I was to enter something but once I got a quick answer it came back to me.    @KymmieL sorry Ford didn’t work out.  We are always looking for good reliable people, I could get you a job here but the commute would be rough.  Today I have three audits to get done, plus other things during my shift on top of the regular things.  Since I am opening that puts me in the drivers seat.  The Asst Mgr comes in part way throuh my shift but she will have to handle customers while I do the work she would be doing if she opened. Tail wagging the dog.  Guess she’s getting punished for not following the Mgr’s requests.  They do tend to butt heads a lot.     Butting heads with people is a thing the Asst is known for.   @awkward-yet-sweet do you think just maybe this new graphics request was in the offing?  And why you were asked to go to work with your husband?  Obviously, he cares about you a lot and is trying to do things to help you.   speaking of meeting people @Adrianna Danielle we have a youngish customer who comes in frequently, I’d like to approach her but I’m just not certain yet.  She still dresses male but has long hair and early chest development.  My approach, if I ever decided I should would just be supportive but I really can’t be sure that is what is going on here or what and I would not want to make a big blunder if that’s not what he is doing.  A male with early teen boobs doesn’t want to be noticed.   well, I can’t be late again, I’ve got to leave now.  See you again later for afternoon tea and crumpets or scones. Mmm scones!   lol   Willow

Well, HIPAA is basically useless for keeping government out of your medical stuff.  It doesn't seem to prevent employers from making workplace medical demands either.  About the only thing it seems to do is keep somebody's sister or spouse from having the tools necessary to help you when you're in trouble.  As usual, government made things worse and added unhelpful red tape.  I really doubt HIPAA will be any use in the area of trans rights either.    Honestly, I don't see anything good will come of this no matter how it goes.  If some state AG's win on this, it will cause issues for trans folks.  If the Feds win on this, it'll be a precedent to stomp on states' rights even more than has already been done.  And I'm not sure which way things go will make a difference when it comes to officials from one state trying to do nasty things to people who have left that state and gone elsewhere.    What a crap sandwich... and no matter which plate it gets served on, "We The People" get to eat it.

At least you tried!  Something equivalent or better may come up, and the waiting could be worth it.  Just keep trying and you'll eventually get what you need and want.      For me, having somebody to love was the most important.  Everything else follows after that.  I waited a long time to find somebody...and she ended up leading me to more than I ever thought possible.    Actually, I'm feeling pretty good right now.  I have something work-like outside of my home responsibilities to do for the first time in about 18 months.  Nobody seems to mind the real me.  And this evening, my husband said something that just really made me feel special.  He was rubbing my back, shoulders, and chest while we talked, helping me relax.  He told me that he thought I was really cute in my girl form, but that he thinks my boy form might even be cuter.  And that he's proud of his "smart little Pocket Fox."    For me, the combination of those sweet words and the physical affection was exactly what I needed.

Shameless plug for my "Taylor" story down in Stories You Write.  I am not Taylor and the experiences she goes through are not what has happened to me, but there is an emotional expression that I think is the best way to say some things that I don't know how to say otherwise.  I am not Bob, either.  But you might find out some things about me by reading it.  And I hope it is a good read and you enjoy it.  I am not done with it.  If you would like to comment on it, I would appreciate it.

Tuesday night.  They had a quick supper together at a fast food place.  Bob went off to teach karate and Taylor locked herself inside her apartment and worked on her hiring plan.   First the web site problem.  The two guys who ran it were self-taught and knew little.  It currently had three pages, the Home page, the About page and the Contact page,  She asked them to work with Karen in terms of redesigning it and she needed three designs to show Gibbs tomorrow.  The problem was three fold: the two guys and Karen.  Millville was a small town and all three were relatives of members of the Board.  Millville, Millvale. She was doing it.  People here called it either way, sometimes in the space of a few seconds.  She thought it was Millville.  All three had complained about the work, because the two boys regarded it as done and untouchable, even though they actually had not worked on it at all for months.  Like a number of people, they showed up and collected generous pay checks and did nothing.  She had looked at a number of websites and she had been told the company wanted one both internal and external customers could log into.  Her chief difficulty at the moment there was that there was very little content.  She decided to send the three complainers out tomorrow to take numerous pictures of the thirty acres  Or was it forty?  No one seemed to care. She cared, because she needed to get it right.  She debated outsourcing the website to a company, but first she needed something to outsource, and before then she needed to decide whether to keep these people.  She didn't need to mess with them.  So she decided to recommend they hire an experienced website developer with management skills. Would such a person come to Millville?  The schools were good, because the company had poured money into them, and the streets were well paved.  The company had bought all the abandoned houses and maintained them, hoping someday they would be filled again. Millville was crime-free.  People did not lock their doors. Neighborly. Very conservative, but in a good way.  Hard working, ethical, honest. Maybe the Chinese money was corrupting the town?  Not sure.  So she thought they would hire someone, even if it were a remote position.  She would rather have them here, but she would take what she would get.  That would move the website out of her hair. Secondly, she needed an effective presenter.  She could not do all these presentations herself.  She had natural talent but a lot could be passed on. She needed another Mary and another Brenda, or their understudies, effective hardworking people.   Bob. Was he okay with this?  He said she was Management.  Was that a problem?  And she was now earning a ridiculous salary, which she put down to company dysfunction more than anything she had done.  Was that a problem? She was not sure.  He was highly competitive and he had that male ego.  She did not.  A feeling of guilt rose.   Her therapist had brought up her feelings of guilt about not making Dad's expectations, never being the man Dad wanted her to be.  She never could, and this physical evidence backed that up.  What would the doctor say?  She thought about it, and that her therapist said she needed to find a sexual assault survivor's group more than a transgender group right now. Was there one here?  She thought about serving in a women's shelter.  There was one here, oddly enough connected to the church they had visited.  That F on her drivers' license would help.  She was waiting until after she talked to the doctor again to move on that stuff.   Was Bob really buying 160 acres near the old air strip on speculation?  Much of the land around Millville had been for sale for a long time.  That land was being offered at a dollar an acre, the owners having inherited it and now living out of state. Common knowledge.  They would take the first offer, and it had been for sale since the airstrip closed twenty years ago. Airstrip.  That would help.  Not tonight. Focus, girl, she told herself, and read over her notes to do so, which were making less sense the further down she went. It was eleven, and she gave up and went to bed.

.my name is violet. I'm new here and thus is my first try at forums. I'm 45 and just recently having came to terms of who I really am. Thought a lot of self discovery since I stopped drinking. Drinking was my coping mechanism to hide a lot of thing. There were plenty of signs though the years. As I look back. That i hid inside. Now really sure what made all of this bubble to the surface at this time in my life.  Mabye it was waiting for me to be open minded and ready to accept that I am trans. I have a very unhealthy environment at home that is anti trans. I really don't know what else to say but hi. I hope everyone here will be accepting of me and me work through my journey of finding the real me. I know that since I accepted it I have been much happier than I can remember. Being to real me makes me happy. I hate having to hide this all the the time at home. I work retail management and have no idea if I could even stay in this business if I am to fully come out. Wow that was scary saying all that. It's a first for me

Thanks.  What I do as a man is what a woman would do if she were a man.  There is just something feminine about the way I act as a man.  It's not that being a woman is actually better, or something to aspire to, but it is just that I am one, while not being one.   If beating my head bloody to get rid off this stupid dysphoria would fix it I would find the nearest wall, but I know that if I did that, when I woke up, it would still be there.   If I did not have this struggle I would be someone else and I would be less of a person than I am.  They say an oak tree growing in an open field is far stronger than one in a forest.  The storms come and go and I stand.   This forum is the first time I have interacted with other people struggling with the same struggle and parallel struggles. It helps.
