You may be putting on muscle and taking off fat. That could cause a plateau for a while. That's how I'd look at it, but I'm an eternal optimist!

That is not a recipe for weight loss. You were sitting at (just a guess) but somewhere near 70-80% carbs for the day. Carbs are sugars. Sugars are either used right away if you’re very active, or stored as fat until you are very active and the need for more energy comes.

Think of this, I eat 1300-1500 calories a day. Of that 1.5 cups is carbs. And my carbs are whole grain for the most part. Enriched white flour and high fructose anything are the worst things you can eat. Unless you plan on intense workouts for a couple hours a day.

More salads!!!

I know that Pasta's are high in sugar's due to it being cards and carbs and starches need to be worked off within an hour or it does turn into sugar and fats and is not good.

The bad part is pasta is so good.

But I can say that my portion control has gotten smaller and I just eat enough to be content.  I have cut my portions way down and I find myself now where I cannot eat big meals. I have to eat smaller meal portions.

So I know that I have trained my body on smaller portions, no fast food or chips and cookies and candy.  Then I am even happier that I gave up soda pop and alcohol.

Don't you think everything seems more yummy and harder to resist since starting E ? I know I have cravings...

I agree with Amy above, in that I gave up pretty much on alcohol and sugar sodas, those 2 things alone helped a lot.

The one thing that helped me, was eating my last meal of the day earlier, like having dinner at 4 or perhaps 5 if I'm staying up till say 10pm. That small adjustment in lifestyle paid dividends....

Remember a serving of pasta is about 1/2 a cup. What you can hold in 1 hand. Any more than that is too much.

Keep it up girl!

As for me yesterday was a super day. I ended up with 24 flights, 14k steps for 6.7 miles, 3000 cals burned, but only 66mins of exercise. Heartbeat 113.

I also missed a meal, well a snack. A cup of grapes and melon. So my intake was a little low too. And I’m feeling that today. Not enough fuel to repair yesterday’s work I guess. It was a new video and it was really fast. Like a 4 beat 8step. It was tough. But really fun. There is this one move that has a double arm dip with a slide two kicks and a sweet crisscross finish. Still don’t have that down. Lol. But I’ll get it. ?

push hard today ladies! Long weekends usually require a cheat for a good time. ?

Yeah that is why you are not losing weight. It’s ok to have spaghetti and meatballs but I would drop to one piece of bread and trim your portion size a bit. Try to get down to around 1700 and see how you feel and how much weight you lose.

Today’s weigh in is more of an estimation then actual because for some reason my scale is giving me err 9 times out of 10 but the one time I got a number it was 202.8. So I guess I lost weight but now I have to go buy a better scale. I guess that is why the scale was under $20.

No decrease in my waist line or at least not to the degree that is easy for me to read doing it myself.

Maybe this is a good time to buy one of those fancy scales that reports to my Apple Health app on my phone.

I have two electronic scales, one in each bathroom, and each of them gives me a different weight, a little more than 2 pounds different.  I really don't know which one to believe!!

I don't even know, if not both of them are lying.  Without a calibrated measurement, one can only do some kind of trending on those things, and a fancy Bluetooth scale may be great on the Bluetooth side, but still be rotten on the scale part.

Our scales in the lab got calibrated every three months, which seems to indicate to me that even very expensive scales tend to drift, and need a new zero setting all the time.
I wonder if one should buy a balance scale as found in many medical offices, because that is always correct if one handles it properly?  I know that they do this pretty sloppy in most medical offices, and guesstimate the individual pounds, but done right they are always 100% correct.

My suggestion is put something of a known quantity on the scale like a 10 pound weight. Then see what it says and offset the value it reports based on the deviation from the 10 pounds to get a more accurate estimate of your weight.

This works only, if the deviation is linear.  Many scales work with pressure cans/elements, and they have most of the times a non linear reaction (some knowledge is left from my former EE days).  I know that the people who calibrated our scales in the lab, went for 4 different weight points, with 4 different known weights.  The best way to do it, would be to take the thing to a place that has a balance scale (my gym has one), be very accurate with measuring ones weight there, and see what the deviation to the own scale is, and consider that deviation for future reference.  I probably will do this at some time.  And after that re-calibrate it twice a year.  On the other hand, do I really care if I am 2 to 5 pounds heavier or not?

My main goal is to fit into clothing I like, and that requires fit testing most of the time anyway, no matter what the label inside says!  I have some pants that are size 1 and fit nice, and i tried a size 16 the other day, and could not even come close to be able to close the top button!

This is true the weight is relatively unimportant as long as I can track the trend to ensure I’m on track. The waist measurement means much more to me. That said this morning after I got to work the tank emptied out so I think my waist line is smaller but I am not going to guess.

I can say I’m wearing a work T-shirt today that I didn’t fit into when I got it so I’m very happy.? At some point I know I’ll fit even better but the progress is noticeable.

It’s a difference of 2 pounds. I’d just average it. Why worry about a pound or two?

I use the scale not as a definite weight, but as a measuring tool to see the before and after effect. If you were say 200 pounds today and exercised all week and went to 198 you lost 2 pounds. And you’re still around 200 pounds. Just 2 pounds lighter. Is the exact weight that important??

Its more about loving how you look isn’t it? If I loved how I looked at 250 pounds, I’d weigh 250 pounds. Idk if I’ve lost any weight this week, but I know I like how my abs are looking. I can almost see them again! So I’m sure I’ve gained muscle this week. And lost fat. I don’t like how my arms look however. But the abs are more important.

I don't care how my ABS look, in my age that is of no importance (who would want to see my belly anyway?).  I am only interested in my weight for health reasons (I am diabetic), and to be able to fit into clothing that I like (and I don't like fat old lady stuff).  My arms were never really muscular (people with my syndromes tend not to be very muscular), and i hated my wimpy looking arms when i still tried to be a man, but now I enjoy several differences of my bodies biology, because it makes it much easier to be a female.

The actual number makes a difference for that?? Didn’t know. So you have like a weight high and low that you have to stay in? Or maybe I’m just confused.

I just meant I use a scale as a measure. And that if it’s off it’s ok with me as long as it’s consistent. But I guess health things you really need that number to be accurate.

Sorry I upset you. My brother has diabetes too. But he doesn’t have to worry about his weight number.  Just has to watch his food and exercise daily.  I guess he’s lucky. Sorry again.

I am not certain that Linde was upset. I think she was only explaining her point of view. You are very considerate though.

After I get off work today I am going to run over to Best Buy because they seem to have a good selection of smart scales that connect to the iPhone. Hopefully I can find a good one.

You did not upset me.  Once you reach my age, you find hardly anything to be upsetting anymore.  And, I think it is helpful to have an open and detailed conversation bout those subjects!

I am a scientist, and  like to have accurate information, and that is the reason that i want a scale that is accurate.  Trending would be OK for me, but I prefer absolute numbers!  It is just a personal thing!

See, if you can find one with a stated accuracy, it might cost a little more, but than yo know that you are pretty right in your weight.

Because I felt that my watchband was a little loose today, I assumed that some bacon may have disappeared

I took the tape out to measure my waste.

I am 41" waste and 44" hips!  Who says I don't get that girly looking body?  Another 100 or so years, and I can be a swimsuit model!

No joy so I went and got a new scale. I tested it out and it said I was 201.9 pounds. It's a Qardio Base 2. I got it for sale at $99.95.

I was a little off yesterday. But still ok.

10 floors, 9500 steps for 4.4 miles, 2740 cals burned, and 56 mins exercise avg heartbeat 110.

I was exhausted yesterday. Exercise was tough and I couldn’t run after. Just too tired. I’m the same today, so today is a rest day. We have a snow and ice storm coming so shoveling will be tomorrow’s exercise.

Either way I’m feeling good and looking okay. Couple months from goal! ??????

Way to go Kirsten.  Yesterday I did alot of activity from trimming my backyard trees to starting an early spring cleaning in my kitchen.  Been walking around and got 8500 steps.  Then I broke out my Wii Fit board and started up working out on the Wii fit board and according to the balance board, I burned 1350 calories.  I had left over spaghetti which is not good, but I cut the portion even smaller so instead of eating 900 calories, I ended up eating 500 calories.

After working out on the Wii fit board with the Wii Fit exercise, I am sore today, but I am ready for more

500 is a good amount of calories for a meal with me but I try to stay around 550 to 600 per meal.

This mornings weigh in was 200.4 pounds and my waist has dropped from 46 inches in the last week to 44 inches.

Speaking of measurements my hips I managed to measure wrong last time I must have been too high. At the widest point I am 45 inches. So that makes my waist technically smaller then my hips again. I also screwed up my shoulder measurement. I didn’t realize you don’t measure the circumference but instead just width from the center of your arm to center of other arm across your shoulders. I’m a little over 16 inches but under 16.5 inches. So I fall pretty much in the ballpark of the average female range.

I don’t I’ll be very happy once I get my waist down to 30 maybe 27. I honestly don’t know how much less then 30 I can get. I assume a little because at 30 I had minor love handles

So I know the hormones have re-distributed fat else where so far cause my hips on the widest part is 44 and my waist is 42 and then I know my breast have been growing cause measured around my chest across the nipples and I am 40.

I would like to get my waist down into the low 30's.  Want to get a flatter smaller stomach.

Happy Sunday!

yesterday I had a slow day on the exercise front. I had to take a day for recouperation after pushing so hard lately. But I still did okay for no exercise.

35 floors, 10040 steps for 4.5 miles, 2800 cals burned (but I took in about 2200 yesterday),  and 52 minutes of exercise avg heartbeat at 109. That was all from moving and building furniture.

But today will be a big day. I’m already at almost 11k steps and 80 mins of exercise (shoveling and snow blowing!) and I’ll have to go out once more to clear it all up once it stops. Hoping for 20k steps today!!

Snow is so great!! ☃️☃️☃️???❄️❄️❄️

Way to go Kirsten.

I had a good day.  I got a total of 13450 steps from doing a early spring cleaning in my house and cleaning everything up and getting rid of some stuff.  Then I did 30min worth of workout on my Wii Fit

Burned a total of 2000 calories

I ate:

Mixed Nuts = calories 170

Chicken Teriyaki Bowl = 190

Very unhealthy dinner chili dog slider = 600 calories

I drank nothing but water

total calories = 960 calories

I stood on the scale before getting into the shower this morning and I lost 1lbs.

Looking forward to more steps, doing my Wii Fit and going to do baby shark ab challenge

Good morning    Now @Abigail Genevieve and @Mmindy what makes you so certain I didn’t mean it to say bee itch certificate?  lol. Thanks Mindy. I was asleep when you saw this and fixed it, and yes Abigail, as a moderator I could have fixed it myself, or weren’t you pointing out the irony of that?   I use Alexis as my alarm to get up.  And I set the ringer to be two guys telling me to get up.  I was so sound asleep when they started telling me to get up that it scared me and my first thought were I had over slept.  Since I have a difficult time getting to sleep as early as I have to in order to get enough sleep I at least cut back my normal awake time to get ready.  But now I have to do my hair and get going.   enjoyed my coffee and a little time catching up   see you all later, for its hi ho hi ho it’s off to work I go.   Willow

Republicans have long committed grave errors by emphasizing their social agenda and moral issues instead of just focusing on the economy, lowering taxes, keeping the public safe, building a strong national defense, promoting business, touting reasonable immigration policies, etc.   The country would thrive economically under Trump's tax and business policies. That's a fact. Another four years of Biden will run this country into the ground financially (including all of our 401Ks and IRAs). But the GOP continues to play right into the Dems' hands by leading with their moral crusades instead of staying the course and trusting their fiscal policies to win the day...

LGBTQ rights Project 2025 takes extreme positions against LGBTQ rights, seeking to eliminate federal protections for queer people and pursue research into conversion therapies in order to encourage gender and sexuality conformity. The policy book also lays out plans to criminalize being transgender and prohibit federal programs from supporting queer people through various policies. The project partnered with anti-LGBTQ groups the Family Policy Alliance, the Center for Family and Human Rights, and the Family Research Council. Project 2025 calls for the next secretary of Health and Human Services to “immediately put an end to the department’s foray into woke transgender activism,” which includes removing terms related to gender and sexual identity from “every federal rule, agency regulation, contract, grant, regulation, and piece of legislation that exists.” The Trump administration proposed a similar idea in 2018 that would have resulted in trans people losing protections under anti-discrimination laws. [Project 2025, Mandate for Leadership, 2023; The New Republic, 2/8/24] Similarly, the policy book calls for HHS to stop all research related to gender identity unless the purpose is conformity to one's sex assigned at birth. The New Republic explains: “That is, research on gender-nonconforming children and teenagers should be funded by the government, but only for the purpose of studying what will make them conform, such as denying them gender-affirming care and instead trying to change their identities through ‘counseling,’ which is a form of conversion therapy.” [The New Republic, 2/8/24] The policy book’s foreword by Kevin Roberts describes “the omnipresent propagation of transgender ideology and sexualization of children” as “pornography” that “should be outlawed,” adding, “The people who produce and distribute it should be imprisoned.” Roberts also says that “educators and public librarians who purvey it should be classed as registered sex offenders. And telecommunications and technology firms that facilitate its spread should be shuttered.” [Project 2025, Mandate for Leadership, 2023] Roberts’ foreword states that “allowing parents or physicians to ‘reassign’ the sex of a minor is child abuse and must end.” Echoing ongoing right-wing attacks on trans athletes, Roberts also claims, “Bureaucrats at the Department of Justice force school districts to undermine girls’ sports and parents’ rights to satisfy transgender extremists.” [Project 2025, Mandate for Leadership, 2023; TIME magazine, 5/16/22] Dame Magazine reports that Project 2025 plans to use the Department of Justice to crack down on states that “do not charge LGBTQ people and their allies with crimes under the pretense that they are breaking federal and state laws against exposing minors to pornography.” [Dame Magazine, 8/14/23] Project 2025 also calls for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to repeat “its 2016 decision that CMS could not issue a National Coverage Determination (NCD) regarding ‘gender reassignment surgery’ for Medicare beneficiaries.” The policy book’s HHS chapter continues: “In doing so, CMS should acknowledge the growing body of evidence that such interventions are dangerous and acknowledge that there is insufficient scientific evidence to support such coverage in state plans.” [Project 2025, Mandate for Leadership, 2023] Going further, Project 2025 also demands that the next GOP administration “reverse policies that allow transgender individuals to serve in the military.” The policy book’s chapter on the Defense Department claims: “Gender dysphoria is incompatible with the demands of military service, and the use of public monies for transgender surgeries … for servicemembers should be ended.” [Project 2025, Mandate for Leadership, 2023]   …summaries of what’s within the rest of the document re: LGBTQ+ concerns. A person can believe their gender is fixed but incongruent with their physiology, but the authors and Trump (by his own words) just see the incongruity of an “expressed gender” that conflicts with what was/is in a person’s pants.

I'm tired of the two-party system.  It has degraded to a system where there are only two diametrically opposed views, neither of which supports me.  I have conservative views regarding big government and government spending but I have very liberal views when it comes to protecting the rights of individuals.  And just elections of the past, I am stuck with two choices, neither of which I support. With only two parties, each with agendas that are off the left and right scales, I am not adequately represented.    Finally, I'm okay with party affiliated politicians running for office using their party views, but once elected to office, they are obligated to support the entire electorate not just the electorate members that voted for them.  Plain and simple, our government system is broken and dysfunctional.  I'll step down from my soapbox now.

I did Ashley.  Non-rev travel was one of the major factors for taking the job.  At the time, US Airways had the best non-rev policy in the industry.  It cost $10 to fly coach and $25 to fly first class.  We flew first class whenever there were seats available.

You should have a moderator fix what you meant to write as "birth certificate".  Ooops.   I've gone over that verse and am wholly and completely dissatisfied with the SBC exegesis of it, so much so that it was one of the things that helped me break out of a mindset of guit.  Sometime I may strut by stuff as a Hebraist and show what it really means.

I found this   — 450 — Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise Goal #1: Protecting Life, Conscience, and Bodily Integrity. The Secretary should pursue a robust agenda to protect the fundamental right to life, protect con- science rights, and uphold bodily integrity rooted in biological realities, not ideology. From the moment of conception, every human being possesses inherent dignity and worth, and our humanity does not depend on our age, stage of development, race, or abilities. The Secretary must ensure that all HHS programs and activities are rooted in a deep respect for innocent human life from day one until natural death: Abortion and euthanasia are not health care. A robust respect for the sacred rights of conscience, both at HHS and among gov- ernments and institutions funded by it, increases choices for patients and program beneficiaries and furthers pluralism and tolerance. The Secretary must protect Americans’ civil rights by ensuring that HHS programs and activities follow the letter and spirit of religious freedom and conscience-protection laws. Radical actors inside and outside government are promoting harmful identity politics that replaces biological sex with subjective notions of “gender identity” and bases a person’s worth on his or her race, sex, or other identities. This destructive dogma, under the guise of “equity,” threatens American’s fundamental liberties as well as the health and well-being of children and adults alike. The next Secretary must ensure that HHS programs protect children’s minds and bodies and that HHS programs respect parents’ basic right to direct the upbringing, education, and care of their children.   https://static.project2025.org/2025_MandateForLeadership_CHAPTER-14.pdf   First, that is not much, if that is all that is of concern.  Secondly, I have seen all sorts of anti-Trump slander, including the Steele dossier and the lawfare he is now undergoing, to be cynical of any criticism against him, and indirectly this document.    He deserves some of what he is getting, but not all.  Thirdly, I bolded one statement of concern.   I don't think gender identity is subjective.  "Radical actors" is name calling, and there is a lot of that going around.  Maybe I am not seeing everything of concern or reading this right, but i would discuss with the author of this document concerning this.

Good evening   well I finally finished reading my textbook.  Yeah.  But I still have a lot more to go for the class.     My endocrinologist always asks me about lactation.  And yes I have had some very small amounts of leakage but not on any regular basis.  I figure I blocked the discharge Duce when I pierced my nipples with scare tissue.  But who knows.  I also get asked about mammograms.  I e had my first or baseline and this fall I will need to schedule my second.   As someone in the midst of studying the Old Testament, I can say that I haven’t found any mention of pending damnation for being transgender or intersex.  The closest it comes is a verse that says men should not wear women’s clothing.  Now I don’t know each and everyone’s particulars, but I know I meet the medical definition of female gender, and even in Ohio, a State that until recently refused to allow birth certificates to be changed, I meet the criteria.  Therefore I can only conclude I am not a man wearing women’s clothing.  But there is a somewhat different scholarly explanation of that law that it should not be taken as literally as the haters want.  Mostly men should not pretend to be women to ex ape from their enemies. Or tried to hide from God.     willow

Well, the left wing has been doing that.    I read a few things while trying to find out what the problem is and liked what I read.  But I am a conservative.    Is there something specific in there that is of concern?  Does it promise somewhere to erase trans folk? That would be problematic.
