Oh...My...Gosh...

Sunday, I drove a bus trip to Kansas City for the Ravens-Chiefs game. Keeping true with football fan tradition, many of the 42 people on board were hammered when we got there (at 10:30am). A few things happened that still have me shaking my head going WTH ever since.

Some of my passengers were older so I stepped off to help if needed. One middle-aged guy came off, looked right at me, and said "hi beautiful!" Naturally, it got my attention since up until that point my wife has been the only person to ever say that to me. I was polite and said hi back with a smile, then the group went to the game. At halftime, this guy came back to the bus and it was just the two of us. He told me he came back to talk, and adding the earlier encounter I could reasonably guess he's interested in me. So I'm in the driver seat talking with him, trying to figure out how I can talk to this guy without sounding like I'm interested back. He was so gone by this point that he kept trying even though I told him I'm married and am lesbian.

Then on the way back, one came up and sat behind me to chat since he was one of only two people still awake. During the conversation, he told me that the guy sitting with him kept asking him to come up earlier and get my phone number if I didn't have an "old man" at home. I let him know the same thing and he backed down from that conversation. But then for himself, asked if I was on Facebook. While he was probably being innocent on that, I'm still not out on there yet so in order to say yes I'd have to come out as a Transwoman, which wasn't the best option either among a bus load of beered-up football fans inebriated since 10:30 that morning. So I politely told him I'm not on there and we just talked for an hour or so about general stuff like how ridiculous it was to pay $100 to park the bus, and so on.

That's never happened to me before, and I'm sure it won't be the last either, but it was the first time ever someone hit on me.

It is both terrifying and yet pleasantly affirming when that happens to us the first time.  It is even better when our fans are not totally snockered and are not Chasers / Admirers (men who specifically want to make it with a CDer.).  Since I have 10 years of sobriety I do have a better ability to gently laugh at the ones who are inebriated and wonder if they would give me even a second look if they were sober but while I like being noticed and accepted I want to keep myself "ordinary" looking. I did tell one that if he sobered up I might give him a chance, but he crawled down the neck of his bottle even deeper.

Yes this was an affirming moment (or trip) as well as being scary.  Thank goodness you were in the driver seat and were "busy".  Good call on saying you weren't on FB.  I haven't experienced anything directly like this, although I've gotten a few "hi' and looks that made me reassess how I look.  I guess it shows that getting sloshed leaves a lot to be desired.

This topic reminds me of the lyrics to the Beatles song, "A Little Help From My Friends."   "What do you see when you turn out the lights?"   "I can't tell you but I know it's mine."   Carolyn Marie

@Ivy have you read the actual document?   Has anyone else out there read it?
    • Abigail Genevieve
I am reading the Project 2025 document https://www.project2025.org/policy/   This will take some time.  I read the forward and I want to read it again later.   I read some criticism of it outside here and I will be looking for it in the light of what has been posted here and there.  Some of the criticism is bosh.   @MaeBe have you read the actual document?

      *older, not holder, oops :P

      No problem!

Old topic, but I gotta say my favorites are: "Stop hitting on minors" (doesn't work if you're holder tho) and "Sure as [squid] not you"

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie

I am in too good a mood to earn my certificate today. I am sure something will happen that will put me on the path to earning it.

It's likely most cis-women consider a fitting unnecessary "because they know what  they wear" and get used to the wrong size.  The instructions for what your size is are simple and why go to any further effort?  You measure your bandsize and you measure your max and subtract the two to get the needed info for the cup size.  Then you buy the same size for years until it hurts or something.

Congratulations Lorelei! Yes, it is a powerful feeling to have the documents that say "you are you".

Here is space for discussion on this, since the topic is large and could derail another thread SOMEBODY started.   Could some dear, sweet, kind Moderator pull everything related to this from the Voting for Trump thread and put it here?  I don't know if you can do that; I am the new girl on the block after all (blinks sweetly).

I will have arrived when I have a b*tch certificate of my own.  I think someone called me one once.
