Make-up Does Have Expiration Times

I do not wear make-up very often these days and I guess I learned just how infrequently I use it last night and today.  Last night I dropped an eye shadow pallet, and when I picked it up, the shadow had broken and powdered up to the no use point.  One of my Xmas presents had been a gift card for Sephora, where the shadow pallet had come from.  The pallet compact was in good shape even with the drop and I thought I could get new shadow inserts for it.  I was told that the compact design had been discontinued three years ago and the current new singles of the colors would not fit in it.  I did not think I had had it that long, but I guess I had.  I now have a new pallet compact for only about twice the price of my gift card.  SIGH!

Perhaps not quite what you are getting at Vicky but something worth stating. They do recommend that things like mascara especially are discarded often as there is a buildup of bacteria which can cause health issues as well as physical deterioration of the product.

The only replacement I have got for anything was a refill for a powder compact I bought. This I got from a 1940's weekend market locally, and was (actually 1950's vintage) brand new old stock unused (and empty). I was able to fill it with powder so able to use. It is a bit sad with somethings though, that they are fitted with mirrors and work well but refills are not available.

Recently I found that one of my favourite shades of  lipstick is no longer available (at least locally). With eybrow pencils and my hair colour, it is difficult to find one that matches well. They are so rare and seem to discontinue so often that I need to buy a stock when I find one to be certain of having one, athough it is possible to brush eyeshadow through as well so not impossible.

A second hand makeup manual that I picked up some time ago suggests that liquids like mascara and liquid foundation are good for about 6 months, while pressed powders and the like should be good for up to 2 years with proper storage (though it bears frequently checking their viability during that time).

That's what I thought, that liquids surely have a shelf life and that bacteria is an issue.  As to powders (pressed or otherwise) I would think they would be fairly long lived.

I use an online cosmetic calculator to check expiration dates prior to purchasing cosmetics for relatives, and also to check dates on other products like sunscreens.  Unfortunately, a lot of places sell cosmetics that are about to expire or already have.  So if you buy and don't use right away, it may not be any good or safe to use.

Morning, y'all. Evening here; we had the regulation three mugs full today. Now it's time to drink something else.     No big plans here either, eldest daughter and granddaughter will be arriving on Saturday, and we will have our granddaughter to ourselves for a week after that. We still have plans though. Tuesday we'll go to the swim center, Wednesday we'll take a road trip to visit my mom, Thursday we'll get some mulch delivered to top up the gardens.   I still make other small plans on a daily basis though. The things I do plan nowadays, which is a bit new for me, is that after pinching a nerve and ending up in a bit of pain and getting some treatment from the physio, I am more motivated than ever to exercise more regularly. Tuesday for example, I went for a short (15 minute) early morning walk, went to the pool for some hydrotherapy, and mowed the lawns. Yesterday I did my exercise reps and spent some time on the exercise bike. Today, I went for a 45-minute walk, tomorrow I will do my reps again and go for a long bike ride. As long as I do at least one thing every day, right? The pleasing thing is that I'm losing weight! I blew out to above 95kg early in the year and I'm just under 91kg now. Yay me!

Boredom is an emotional state that comes when a person has nothing to do, and is not interested in anything. To stop boredom, most people do something to occupy or amuse themselves. The first known use of the word boredom is in the novel Bleak House by Charles Dickens, written in 1852, but the saying to be a bore had been used to mean "to be tiresome or dull" since 1768. When referring to the mind, boredom is a bad state in which the person feels a deep lack of interest in what is going on around them, and where it is hard to focus.

So, yesterday's epiphany was that girl jeans fit me much nicer than boy jeans. Well, duh! So this girl is switching over to wearing girl jeans pretty much full time. I'll keep my others for work jeans. We went out to dinner last evening and I was in androgynous mode...wearing a pair of Bandolino Amy straight leg denim pants. Score!

Good morning, everyone!! The coffee upload has started for me but just in the early stages so I'm barely coherent at this point.   You've been missed @Willow - I hope all is going well with your wife and at work.   @awkward-yet-sweet We love to make beans with rice - one of our favorite meals.   No big plans for me today. Small projects around our place and probably some reading. We're going to have some rain off and on, and the temps are still too low for a lot of outdoor work.   Be safe and enjoy this beautiful day we've been given!!

Thanks, @VickySGVfor some truth. Hatred may speak loudly in a political agenda, but there is always love, there is always love.

Doesn't this belong over in the Humor Topic??  Grim humor I admit, but it has the dark humor picture of the folks protesting the Sacramento Sanctuary Laws.  If the world is going to end next week why are these people so concerned about someone staying fertile and able to have children??   Crazy.
