Today I had appointments with both my new and my current counselor. My new counselor replaced my former one because she has eye sight problems and cannot see patents anymore. My new counselor is a mental health pharmacist. I asked her about interaction with HRT and my current meds, None. She is concerned about my DVT history. I am working with a hematologist on that point. I learned that she is knowledgeable on HRT. She did her training at the SLC VA, Which has a great trans program.

She is even going talk with my PCP and coordinate my HRT. If my Dr. wants her to she will take the lead on it. So things are looking good. But the waiting is going to be hard, my PCP appointment is the 22nd.

Hi Kymmie, sounds like you're right on track.  If you have a history with DVT than of course, starting HRT is a concern.  I worry about it due to my age so it's a concern.  I do a lot of walking as a form of exersize which indirectly helps to stop the formation of blood clots. The walking, however, can sometimes cause pain in my lower legs the next day (usual soreness).  I used to worry that the pain might be a small clot forming. I was very paranoid about it the first few months.  Even now, I don't like sitting for very long periods because of the risk.

Very good day Kymmie.  My doctor prescribed patches to alleviate the concern for DVT.  Sounds like you've got a good team.

I am wondering being my other therapist has said she doesn't have much knowledge in the way of LGBTQ. She has helped me a lot, She has mentioned that they just got a therapist on staff that LGBTQ is a passion for her.  Would it be a good idea to change over to this new Dr?

Honestly. I would talk to that therapist and see how comfortable you are afterwards. After I had my first appointment with my therapist, I was very comfortable with him and very thankful that I have him. Hope this helps. Hugs!

I agree with Susan above, walking is sooo good in many ways, including what's mentioned above. I try and get a minimum 5 miles in daily (usually no problem).

I agree with Jani, patches have less risk with DVT's. I also was prescribed a baby aspirin.

Sounds like you are getting closer Kymmie and best of luck, I would consider the therapist mentioned above, it's great to hear about such things in WY.

Hugs

That's great news, Kymmie.  Having a knowledgeable doctor or pharmacist is so important to keeping you healthy and on track.  I've never heard of a mental health pharmacist before.  You learn a lot in these forums.  ?  Best of luck and success.

HUGS

UPDATE:

Well on the 11 I saw the new therapist. She did an evaluation on my mental condition for starting HRT. I also learned that my current therapist is changing to the home based care team. So I am transferring to the new therapist anyway.

Last Friday, I saw my new PCP. He is great he was looking for a letter, which I thought was the letter wrote by my therapist. So today I get a call from my MH pharmacist. So, I learn that they have a group of people who will examine your records and such and give guidance on proper HRT etc. She is working on the letter. I just need to get over and give blood to get a base line testosterone level then she can get my info to this board and I can get started on my HRT journey. I am heading over in the AM they need the sample before 10am.

Things are moving forward for me. Slowly but are moving forward, none the less. :)

This is great news Kymmie!  There's a lot of changes to come and before you know it, you'll be where you want to be.  Stay positive.  Your time is coming! ?

Great news Kymmie.  A few days to have all the blocks checked doesn't mean much in the long term.  Yes, your time is coming!

Got a call from my MH pharmacist today. She received the Med recommendation from the counseling board.   She said no estrogen. Due to my past blood clots. I go see her on Wednesday. To discuss the different options that were recommended. So, starting HRT is just around the corner.

I will however pick up my new meds that day vs having them mailed. And start that day. Yeah.

Sounds like progress is being made Kymmie.  I hope the clot issue doesn't hold things up too much.  Have a great weekend!

I'm thinking about some interactions yesterday I did, while presenting as male but acting as female, that were far better than I did when I was presenting as male and acting as male.  #girlunderhood. I do a crappy job at acting as male and I am giving it up.  I am not talking about feminine gestures or presentation but just relating as a woman.  People don't realize I am doing it but it is a whole lot easier to do.   You don't just put on a dress and BOOM you are a girl.  You are a girl and you put on a dress.  Or not. Whether I am in jeans or a skirt (I wish, wife would have lots to say) I am a girl.  I don't need $250 in makeup and heels and hose and all that.  I don't need surgery. Honey, I have arrived.  Now I have to work out how that best works in my life, causing the minimal damage and creating the maximum good, but I have more working room.   Oh, and I am still pissed off at everyone and everything. #Contradictory.

@Willow it is certainly possible that my husband planned it. Placing me in the path of an opportunity....he certainly does things like that. GF has done some work for the company as an outside consultant, so I'm sure the company owner knows what potential resources are around.    It could also have just happened randomly. He has taken me to work with him before, just because he likes to have me around. I remember one time that I fell asleep with my head in his lap, and he held a meeting with his subordinates without waking me and making me move.  The company culture is family oriented and relaxed.

The photo is great.  Software is phenomenal but it also is sort of a promise of things to come. Years ago this sort of thing took a photographer and Photoshop and all sorts of things and you would say, "I can look like THIS??"   Me, I am a duck.  That's from my driver's license.  Just kidding.

I lucked into that picture. I took like 10 before that, which appropriately make me look like a donkey. ;)   Thank you so much for the compliment!

This is a great analogy. The statement is true as it relates to the tree. The analogy fits because we as a LGBTQIA community are stronger when we stand together. It also work here on Transgender Pulse Forums. The support I feel from so many others has made me comfortable with my stance, because I'm in a beautiful forest of friends. So when I'm out alone and confronted. I can respond and act like the single tree in the field, surviving whatever comes my way. My roots reach back and communicate with others like me.    Standing Strong,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Mindy, that would be so awesome of you.  Please make the edit for me, and thank you so much!

      M.   The term bigender works for me because after taking the time to explore my feelings, I kept coming to the same conclusion, that while I felt an overpowering need to express my inner woman, I also enjoyed being a man.  I realized that my personality was equal parts man and woman and to be happy and fulfilled, I needed to express both sides.  There are challenges living a life of two-gender expression, but I'll expand on some of those in future posts.     Hugs,   Sally

Sally, a moderator can edit the post adding "Post 3" if you would like. Let me know and I'll be glad to take care of it. That way your numbering system is in tact.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I thought Hey, I can't be experiencing Gender destroyer because it doesn't fit the narrative, but Hey I can. I am experiencing mild discomfort in relation to my gender. Because and that can be a form of mild form of it this forum because their elements of my gender that are out of alignment with my sign gender at birth. There are elements of my gender I have been holding back on some I did not even know for fear it did not fit was told was not very manly or in some other way not correct for someone who is an amab. I tried embracing and expressing some of these parts of me even for just a little bit every once in a while and it feels like a relief to me like a weight has been lifted.
