Surgeries and transitioning (MTF)

Recommended Posts

So I have some questions!

what surgeries are a good start for my transition (MTF)?

and how can we find good and affordable surgeons?

I did start on laser hair removal and it hurts bad lol! But I have to finish all my sessions!

anyway I can’t afford all the surgeries at once but I’m thinking to start having some surgeries on my face before starting my HRT!

any  suggestions?

thank you!?

Depends on where your dysphoria lies. For me, I had GCS and not the others. FFS is not needed, and breast augmentation is something I want to wait on. Others I know have done FFS and BA first and waited on GCS. So it is probably something you want to consider for yourself. There is really no one set path to transition.

Thank you girls! So is it always a requirement to be on HRT to be eligible for SRS?

can the SRS be done before being on HRT?

NONE are good to start transition.  They should be the culmination of many steps taken one step at a time.  No surgeries are needed to fully transition anyway.  Although it happened several weeks ago, a person I knew slightly died three days after a two day series of the surgeries and I am still grieving for her and her partner and child.  I am post op of GCS for six years and know what they do not do and dreams that do not come true from having them.  In one sense you are lucky today because waiting times for then are in YEARS, not months and you have time to find out how NECESSARY they really are.  I will suggest one element of health care you can do however: See a dentist and have that part of your body put to rights, it will help in the long run.  It is those who have surgeries too early in transition that become the regretters who do not have to be.  Sorry if this is rough sounding but I do care.

Hello Kim:

Normally doctor's and surgeons would like to have the person on HRT and living full time as there desired gender for 1 year before any surgeries.  As someone that would like to get FFS and GCS that has been on HRT for 15 months and living full time for 20 months, the doctor's that I have seen are good doctors and they have asked and checked to see if I have been on HRT for 1 year and living full time.  That is where the letters from therapist come in from and the hormone doctor.

For myself, there are times that I feel like that I am rushing on wanting to get surgeries, but also how there is the typical wait list you have to get on.  Also these surgeries are not exactly cheap.  For example, for my FFS, I was quoted $38k and for GCS I was quoted $25k.

But typically there are steps that you do need to take that are in place and that the good doctor's usually follow the WPATH.  Do not rush into surgeries and any good doctor will not do them without seeing HRT for 1 year.  Like how Vicky said, the ones who rush into this are the ones that typically are the regretters.  Sorry to be so rough on this but there is some areas that you just cannot rush and need to follow the process.

This topic reminds me of the lyrics to the Beatles song, "A Little Help From My Friends."   "What do you see when you turn out the lights?"   "I can't tell you but I know it's mine."   Carolyn Marie

@Ivy have you read the actual document?   Has anyone else out there read it?
    • Abigail Genevieve
I am reading the Project 2025 document https://www.project2025.org/policy/   This will take some time.  I read the forward and I want to read it again later.   I read some criticism of it outside here and I will be looking for it in the light of what has been posted here and there.  Some of the criticism is bosh.   @MaeBe have you read the actual document?

      No problem!

Old topic, but I gotta say my favorites are: "Stop hitting on minors" (doesn't work if you're holder tho) and "Sure as [squid] not you"

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie

I am in too good a mood to earn my certificate today. I am sure something will happen that will put me on the path to earning it.

It's likely most cis-women consider a fitting unnecessary "because they know what  they wear" and get used to the wrong size.  The instructions for what your size is are simple and why go to any further effort?  You measure your bandsize and you measure your max and subtract the two to get the needed info for the cup size.  Then you buy the same size for years until it hurts or something.

Congratulations Lorelei! Yes, it is a powerful feeling to have the documents that say "you are you".

Here is space for discussion on this, since the topic is large and could derail another thread SOMEBODY started.   Could some dear, sweet, kind Moderator pull everything related to this from the Voting for Trump thread and put it here?  I don't know if you can do that; I am the new girl on the block after all (blinks sweetly).

I will have arrived when I have a b*tch certificate of my own.  I think someone called me one once.

That’s fantastic Lorelei. I’m so happy for you.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
