Hi! I'm new, but not so new

I've been pretty absent from local and online trans communities for most of my transition so far. I've been transitioning to female for a few years now, but mostly just medical stuff. I've been doing very little in the way of social transition while I've been patiently (but not so patiently) getting electrolysis, working on my voice in private, and letting the hormones do their thing. But I'm scheduled for FFS in two months and that will probably do away with whatever's left of my "male invisibility cloak" which is already in tatters, so I've decided to bite the bullet and finally transition socially. My plan had always been to do as much of the physical transition in secret that I could so that when I did finally come out, others would have an easier time understanding who I am, but now this is a huge change for me all at once, and while it's exciting, it's also very nerve racking. More nerve racking than going under the knife, to be honest.

So that's my story so far. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Welcome to the Forums. Yes, coming fully out is nerve wracking but some of it is going to be the step up you thought was there and is an optical illusion.  I was waiting to be attacked by a bear, and a butterfly drifted on by. The most surprising that we never imagine is the folks who have been on edge around us because of unconscious clues we have sent their way, and the relief they feel and tell us about.

Ummhmmm.  Although I'll admit that I dropped subtle, "conscious clues" as well (in terms of my manner, dress, and appearance), and perceptive friends have picked up on them...and been very gentle and kind in both asking me privately and then supporting me.  So far, it's not been as scary as I had feared, and that helps me forward with the next steps of my journey.

This is definitely what I'm guessing will happen for me at my workplace. Three separate co-workers have already privately come out to me as allies, completely unprompted, so I don't think I'm fooling anyone at this point. They're probably going to feel relieved to know that they were right about me all along. But it still feels scary to actually make the switch, lol. I guess I won't be able to convince myself that it won't be scary until I just do it and see for myself that everything will turn out fine.

This topic reminds me of the lyrics to the Beatles song, "A Little Help From My Friends."   "What do you see when you turn out the lights?"   "I can't tell you but I know it's mine."   Carolyn Marie

@Ivy have you read the actual document?   Has anyone else out there read it?
    • Abigail Genevieve
I am reading the Project 2025 document https://www.project2025.org/policy/   This will take some time.  I read the forward and I want to read it again later.   I read some criticism of it outside here and I will be looking for it in the light of what has been posted here and there.  Some of the criticism is bosh.   @MaeBe have you read the actual document?

      *older, not holder, oops :P

      No problem!

Old topic, but I gotta say my favorites are: "Stop hitting on minors" (doesn't work if you're holder tho) and "Sure as [squid] not you"

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie

I am in too good a mood to earn my certificate today. I am sure something will happen that will put me on the path to earning it.

It's likely most cis-women consider a fitting unnecessary "because they know what  they wear" and get used to the wrong size.  The instructions for what your size is are simple and why go to any further effort?  You measure your bandsize and you measure your max and subtract the two to get the needed info for the cup size.  Then you buy the same size for years until it hurts or something.

Congratulations Lorelei! Yes, it is a powerful feeling to have the documents that say "you are you".

Here is space for discussion on this, since the topic is large and could derail another thread SOMEBODY started.   Could some dear, sweet, kind Moderator pull everything related to this from the Voting for Trump thread and put it here?  I don't know if you can do that; I am the new girl on the block after all (blinks sweetly).

      I think I lost a friend :(

I will have arrived when I have a b*tch certificate of my own.  I think someone called me one once.

That’s fantastic Lorelei. I’m so happy for you.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
