A Great Start For Pride Month

I go out to eat at a number of local restaurants, a few of which I have been going to even before Transition in "him" mode.  I went to one tonight that I had not gone to in a month or two and was greeted with "Where have you been? We have been missing you."  The smiles were warm and the service was great and no one in the place at all was giving me any strange looks.  It makes me feel good that people see me as very ordinary in their lives.  I am humbled by the fact that as insignificant as I feel people whom I have contact with remember me and miss me when I am not seen regularly.  I make no secrets about being Trans, I am actually wearing a Trans Pride T shirt today and have a couple more I will be cycling this month.  I smile and am cheerful with the staff at these places, and as bad as I think I look, it s the character that is seen the most.  Happy Pride Month.

That is great to hear. It is always great to hear people feel that way and shows they care about the person, not the gender.

 

I had a similarish (but slightly different encounter) yesterday. I was out on the 1st in a gender fluid tank top, pride flag badges, a short skirt and heels but couldn't shave because I was doing laser as well. A person (likely a neighbour who has seen me around as only the next street over) with a baby stroller stopped me to say good afternoon. I was originally worried where it was going but they just told me they wanted me to know how good I looked. Was so lovely.

It's funny how living in a rather small, rural community makes one realize how much acceptance actually exists.  I may or may not pass but regardless folks have seen my transition.  I am greeted with a warmness i don't remember from the past.  Perhaps by opening myself up and becoming vulnerable i became "more human" to others.  

Transition itself required "pride".  Today i tend to sit back and simply live my life rather than be actively involved in a GLBTQ movement.  I sometimes beat myself up about not being a larger part of the movement but life is full and relatively peaceful.  I probably won't make any parades.  I will do my best to live with my head up being proud of myself as another person who is living "true to myself".
