Hello! Fresh out of the closet

Hey there, community!

I'm Dain and I'm new here, both in the forums and the trans community in general. I'm nonbinary, pronouns they/them.

I never thought I belonged in the community. I only realized I am indeed trans recently, specially after reading Devon Price's " All Other Trans People Are Real, But *I* Am A Terrible Fraud ". That's when it clicked for me, given that my experience was so close to theirs.

Before I had just taken for granted that I was wrong in some way. Now a whole new world of questions opens up for me and I'm not sure how to go about it.

I did however already come out to my immediate family and close friends. Which is where I start to raise more questions, when I talk about it to others. I'm not very social, so in my day to day I'm just me and life is simple. But when it comes to interacting socially, suddenly there seems to be many things to consider... This is where I feel getting in touch with the community might help.

Also, I guess I should try to find a local community to connect with. Thing is I'm an expat (moved to Sweden last January) and I'm still figuring things out at a basic level.

I suppose I'll be posting in the nonbinary section of the forum soon.

Anyway, nice to meet you!

Welcome Dain.  Hopefully in time you will find a community in Sweden.  In the meantime please read and share here.  I found simply finding that my experiences and feelings were not unique helped me.

Hugs,

Charlize

Great to meet you. I'm sure that you'll find friends and answers here. Moving to a new place is challenging but it also gives you a fresh start. I've heard Sweden is a nice place. Best of luck!

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome! :)

I'm really looking forward to dive in! Just need to sort out my thoughts into words first. I find myself wanting to write something only to end up in a haze of abstract thoughts unsure of how to translate it into language.  I struggle a lot to articulate myself, so it's nice to be in a safe space like this to try and express myself and get input from other transgender peers.

Thank you! ❤️

First of all Welcome! It's great to have you here!

I have deleted and or walked away from many many posts, cause sometimes my mind wants to say a whole bunch, sometimes it flows, and sometimes it gets all tangled up. After i come back and read a bit more in here, i find i am able to write most of what I wanted to say in the post. Sometimes I "ramble on," but I feel better getting it out, instead of bottling it up. The TP community helps me with my thoughts and questions, and later I can see what and how i was thinking.

As abstract as you might think your thoughts are, they will make sense to us, cause we are and have been where you are right now, in some form shape and manner,   we either understand and/or can be here for you to help. (I hope all of that made sense, lol)

When we get to the point of coming out to ourselves it is even more confusing than coming out to absolutely anyone else in the world.  We had feelings and ideas defined to us by others.  If they assigned you male at birth you got the definitions for boys, if you were assigned female, you got another set of definitions.  For those of us who have some degree of binary, getting the wrong definition was bad enough, but to my knowledge only the tiniest number of parents or communities have given their children the definitions of Non Binary life.   I am 60% binary Trans Female and 30% NB these days but I was given only the tools to understand being male as I was assigned at birth.  Long lead in to saying that you are discovering how to talk about yourself at  this point in the journey and it may take time even to you to find your very personal definition.  Don't worry we have been there, and you will come to where you can declare "This is ME" and know what that means.

Yes, this is something I'm thinking about more and more. Again having trouble finding words for what I wanted to say to this... Feels like being a 3dimensional object in a 2dimensional world... does that even make sense?! Where your being is reduced to a 2d representation, but in the end that's all it is, a representation that can't show all it's sides because the 2d world is limited like that? For example, you look like a triangle in 2d but you're actually a pyramid. Even a square can be a pyramid seen from bellow... the possibilities are endless but we're stuck being seen by one side of it.

Sorry, I thinking I might be complicating things! But great to be here! Once again thanks to everyone on this thread!
