I will miss the little things

Recommended Posts

DawnD

So last weekend I went camping(tents, drinking, bonfire, no restrooms) I was in boy mode as I am not out yet. When natured called as is the case with mass quantities of cheap beer is involved, I found a tree, pulled it out, shook it off after, put it away and went back to fun. It got me thinking if or when I transition to a girl, it will require a little more privacy and toilet paper.(I have camped with girls) I have what I have between my legs, but male parts are so much more convenient in that regard.

It got my thinking what little thing will you miss or do you miss after transitioning? (Let's keep this on the light side, we are all aware of how society can treat us, just little things)

Great topic, Dawn.  I miss both of the things listed above.  I really miss being able to carry heavy things like I once could.  My upper body strength has dwindled.  When moving things like couches, sheets of plywood, etc...I never realized how much of the lifting required me to use my chest to help balance these bulky items.  I can't have ANYTHING touch me anywhere near my chest.  It nearly sends me into orbit when I inadvertently hit my nipples.

I have yet to find anything I really miss other than the looks from cute girls. Girls are definitely not checking me out anymore. Well maybe except a lesbian but I haven’t noticed that either.

And what’s worse is that that’s been replaced with guys checking me out and flirting. It’s really really weird still for me. Like really weird. lol.

I do not miss anything (yet), and I dont believe i will. I am doing what I have always wanted to do, so everything that comes with it will be gravy. I get looks, and I enjoy them. I havent been flirted with yet, at least not as far as I know. That might come later when I present more.

Oh you’ll know. Guys are a lot of things, but sneaky isn’t one of them. The other night at the concert I went to this kid (I’d say 25ish) came walking up to my wife and I, full of confidence and ready to go. He used my ink as an ice breaker and had like 3 more flirty lines ready to go. I was a deer in headlights though. And my wife just laughed at me. He was a cute guy too. I’m still amazed it happened.

Oh and earlier in the night when we first arrived her and I jumped out of my truck to go find a porta potty and this group of guys parked near us were talking about my truck. As we walked away we heard this guy say “that girl drives this truck!?” We both laughed and on the way back he walked right over and introduced himself. I think he clocked me though. Cause his demeanor switched up after a few sentences.

But trust me Ellora, it’ll happen. And you’ll know it when it is.

Early in transition i felt i might loose a lot but actually what i've found is greater freedom to do what i like.  I certainly don't miss peeing in a line with other guys!

As far as pretty girls,   i find myself able to smile talk and relate as never before. Guys can be more difficult but that's kind of validating.

I must admit that if we lived 75 years ago when a woman's world was so limited transition might have been difficult.  Today i'm just glad to be me and following gender "rules" is not dependent on society's norms.

Hugs,

Ha! This made me laugh and cringe at the same time! I hated going to the “Murph” (Short for Jack Murphy Stadium, Originally as I’ve know and preferred as “The San Diego Stadium”) because they had those gawd awful pee troughs! I would wait In line for a stall if I could, especially cause I felt I should be sitting down anyway...

😂 So true, when I used to hang out at a local coffee house in Hillcrest, I used to get flirted with all the time. But that was over ten years ago and I was very much male to them, no obvious signs of my Lady self that might be noticed now. I haven’t been to any of the coffee places around here in a bit, but it would be interesting to see how that plays out. I do notice guys looking at me, but I haven’t been approached yet. Unless I’m just being oblivious, 😂. After being freed to be a trans woman, telling my drs and starting HRT, I have stopped thinking as a male more and more everyday, so seeing things solely as a woman, I miss some of the markers I might have seen before. I do not miss that, and try to limit seeing “as a male” cause yuk, 😂

That’s so funny! I totally know what you mean.

In my case, I’m not attracted to males, I don’t watch men like I do women, unless they approach me. If they are cute, or have a good personality, I start to get giddy 😂 and can freeze.

Argh!!

I went to La Jolla Shores the other day, been a while, and they remodeled the bathroom/showers. In the “old days,” there was a row of urinals and toilets (most of the doors to the toilets were missing. Across from that there was shower area, no stalls, no privacy. This was all in the men’s area, not counting the outside shower area. Anyhoo, if you had to use the toilet, you had a view of men peeing and taking a naked shower, and visa vera, they could all see you sitting there... double and triple ugh. Great for an exhibitionist, but not for a shy young lady. 🙃

I am not sure it is all post transition. I remember a friend joking at a party we were at that I was typically like a woman and taking so long in the loo. On reading a national newspaper here today I did notice an article about there being loads more bacteria in a mens facillity than a womens - surprise surprise lol. The main thing I miss about going in the wild (apart from beware of nettles etc) is that it is less easy to see approaching embarrasment, being low down in the undergrowth.

My visits to the hairdresser are very similar pricewise. She is not upmarket either is styles or price but I love the local meeting / gossip. I suppose the thing I don't miss is the (often) doctors surgery atmosphere of a barbers rather than chatty hairdressers.

Eeeek, Nettle in the nethers! No bueno!

One thing men and women have in common, is they both have need to squat then #2 is involved.

I was reading one of my favorite member's (DeeDee) excellent blog today and she reminded me of probably one of the hardest "little things" I am missing directly related to my transition.

I miss my grandkids calling me "Papa (my dead name)".  I especially miss my three girls calling me Dad.  It took me years to gain their love and trust as their long time step-dad and suddenly it's gone.  The grandkids have 'sometimes' (when they remember) call me "Grammy" now but my 3 daughters have reverted to calling me "Susan".  Even though it's my personal name, it's doesn't feel personal at all when they use it.  Strange but true for me.  Everyone calls me Susan too so there's no personal connection reflected in using just my first name.

If any of you have thought of something besides mom, mother or mum, let me know.  I don't like those because if feels to close to what they call my wife...their mom.  When introduced to new people my girls say, "these are my parents" instead of "this is my mom and my dad".  When talking to the grandkids and referring to me, they call me "Grammy".  The problem is when I am with them, they call their mom..."mom" and they call me..."Susan"

i guess that'll have to do unless someone knows another nickname that can be used.

Cautiousness

Although I have had several bad-dreams or nightmares relating to "anatomical regeneration" in which I struggle to obtain a second gender surgery, I must confess that there are times when I do miss "the convenience of it all" (i.e, when nature calls while hunting or out in the fishing barge).

Everything else about me wants me to complete my Journey, except the one thing my Kids call me, "Dad." Unless they choose to call me another name, I will never personally ask them to call me something else. My Ex would freak if I asked them to call me Mom, and I would prefer her to stay out of my life as much as possible. My other kids, from a friend, chose to call me daddy all of their own. Their Mom is a long time friend, and I have been present in their lives since birth. We never asked them to call me daddy. If they did want to call me Mom or anything close to that, it would have to be approved by my friend, cause she , as a single Mom, deserves that.

I feel for you, it has to be hard not hearing those word, I know I would miss it. I hope that you may find peace and happiness with this dilemma.

I'm an independant woman (I bought it! 🎵)  so I miss having the strenght. A thing i'm happy to not miss is the male parts. In a way it's one of the most validating thing for me. Waking up from the surgery and feeling immediatelly like it's normal and always been that way and never thinking about that afterward except to think it's cooler that way has been great in a way because I always think : "a cis man would definetely miss it so I trully must be trans" lolllll (I know, it's stupid but hey)

So

so far the only thing I hate or that  effect;s me is that I have to wear a wig..I guess once I am done with FFS I am hoping they can do something with my hair line as well. I hardly ever use the men rooms anymore even in the gym.. Susan did bring up a interesting point about strength..I noticed my upper body strength is getting weak..But when you add it all up..much happier as woman then I was ever as a man

Yeah, I miss not having to spend like an hour just to put my face on in the morning. Having to wake up like an hour earlier to get ready. But it is kinda fun too.

Well, off to the races!

That shortens up pretty fast Toni. I used to be an hour in the bathroom for a regular day. Now it’s 25 and that includes shaving shower makeup and hair. It’s still a good hour for a fancy date or something like that.

@Susan R we use Didi. But as time passes I find it’s much easier for our youngest to just call me mom. It happens more and more and so much less confusing for him. It’s his choice to call me whatever he wants. I do try to ask the kids to use mom for me outside of the house with strangers though. It create less questions and issues. It sucks having to out yourself regularly to strangers.

I originally said I couldn’t think of anything I missed, but there is something. Having the ability to just bury my emotions at any time with no issue. I could squash anything at one point. Fold it up and kick it away. But now it’s literally emotional vomit constantly. Up down back and forth annoyed and angry and happy all at the same time. So many freaking emotions all crashing into each other. It’s draining. So that’s what I miss most. By far. Lol

I have been reading a few threads regarding trans Homicide. It got me thinking.     We are even allocated a special day. Transgender day of rememberance to remind us of and to recall and in our own way grieve for our fallen brothers and sisters who have been murdered for there right to express themselves in the manner they feel is right for them. I also have found articles online expressing that Trans homicides are  now at an  and I quote "Epidemic Levels". Are they faking it and Scaring people into hiding? Not revealing ourselves for fear of mortal demise. Or are we trying for some kind of hysteria? Should we be scared? Should we all fear the reaper when we leave what we regard as a safe place? particully whenever this day of remeberance comes personally it reminds me that my life could be in danger. Regardless of how well you fit into the social norms and with no regard of how well you pass if thats the word you like to use. So I decided to actually look at the figures to see how this panned out. The figures do tell quite an interesting story . Let me take the UK for instance. The total number of Trans persons murdered in the UK Between October 2017 to September 2018 was 1 The total number of homicides for this time period was 726 murders. population  66.04 Million So just one person was murdered. because of there trans status out of Seven hundred and Twenty Six persons. I personally do not consider this an epidemic of murders against the Trans comunity.  To put this into perpective. Just Deaths from road accidents were 1,710 for this time period.   So I decided to look a little deeper. Remember our figures will be lower in my opnion because firearms offences are very rare for us. Lets now take the United States same Time frame. Murders assiociated with being trans 28. Total number of murders in the United states for the same time period. 17,284  So considering the amount of recorded homicides it again is hardly an epidemic. Population 327.2 million Now lets look into the highest recorded number of trans related homicides in the world. Brazil. Which I consider a much more violent country in general if you go by population to homicide rate. With a total of 167 out of a total number of recorded homicides of 63,880. Population 209.3 Million I have taken the step of leaving out any statistics on if these people were in the Sex industry or not and just rounded it up. who would by default have a higher chance of being a victim of homicide. as a murder is still a murder regardless.   The population of the world is estimated at 7.53 Billion and the total global trans related murders 369 for the time period   Even Turkey Who by definition dislike anything Trans related theres only 7     So in reality being murdered because of your trans status is still very rare considering the total of Homicides in general. In saying that One murder is One to many. Not only is the person had there life taken from them The ripples from that effect so many others in a life changing way.  Murder is a Horible crime. Taking another life in this way is wrong on every level regardles of the reasons behind  For me Trangender day of remembrance should still be the day when we recall the fallen. But do not let it make you in fear of your life. As in reality it is still not an epidemic. This day. When it comes to pass again I will still spend time thinking of those who have had there lives taking from them for what they stand for in the same way I remember The fallen from conflicts on rememberance Sunday but will now understand that I am not in mortal danger as soon as i walk out of my door. I hope this has also made any of you who have been scared to reveal yourselfs to the world in the belief your in peril.   We are all in danger going by the statistics but not for being trans and most certainly not for being anything other than ourselves Link to figures here   Transrespect Versus Transphobia Worldwide. This is the source of figures often cited by trans campaigners.   Please bare in mind there is not yet an official, standardised method for recording the deaths of trans people across the UK or indeed world wide. But these are the figures widely used and accepted   Do you agree? Should we still be scared? have i missed something fundamental in my conclusion? Please do correct me if im wrong. Forums are for disscussion.     Please note I could do another thread on hate crime but I am considering Homicide for the purpose of this post as this is what the day in question is about and for the fallen. It does make me thinkthe public in general  are being deliberatly misled.   So to sumerise. Dont panic whenever you open the newspaper  In reality you are more likely to get hit by a bus crossing the street than you are being a victim of homicide. So be safe. Be careful and dont put yourself in danger. Pre emptive common sense is always the best safety net.   On another note if God forbid anything ever happened to me I would personally like to be remembered as a fallen woman and not as a trans related statistic. This is what I strive to be

Here's an update: I think I have started my period some months ago. Every month, I get brown discharge from my genital area and the scars occur at the same time. I haven't told my parents about it. It seems so weird to tell them! I have also noticed another weird thing. During my mid cycle(ovulation time, probably) I always get a nosebleed. I checked the net and found that women with pcos have such nosebleeds whenever they ovulate.

What i see in this story is alcohol.  Too often drink is involved problems aren't far behind. As an active alcoholic i got myself into trouble on several occasions.  Sobriety makes that much less likely today even though i have fully transitioned.   Hugs,   Charlize

Be aware If your in the UK there is a shortage of estrogen products Mainly patches. But this will filter down to Pills etc very soon I believe as they precribe alternative products.   want to know more?   and from the beeb   I had my Patches restocked about 2 weeks ago. However this was a stuggle  I have been been given a few boxes of a diffrent brand and am still waiting from a phone call from the chemist to complete my order. So If you havent got them yet then be prepared for troubled waters for a while.   Not that im a pesamist but if the Goverment have got involved then i wouldnt hold your breath that we are going to see anything changing very soon.

Ok I can update on this now. After all the tests.   Which were. Many Blood tests. Mainly blood work etc. Iron Studies Ultrasound of my upper abdomin. Checks Liver, Stomach, Gall Bladder, Kidneys, Etc etc   In a nutshell.   Yes HRT Can potentially raise ferritin levels Thats from my gender therapist not i just pulled it out of google. Mine are raised. However Not by much. At least nothing to be concerned about. Being honest depending on where you go Mine could read normal. But in the NHS scale im about 100 higher than i should be. Which in reality is very little considering you would only have a problem if you was over the 1500's   My iron is normal just the ferritin is raised which as stated above could be hrt However it could also be i did exercise after toast with a big dollop of marmite.   Yes I love marmite.   So it would appear im out of the woods. So your stuck with me for a little longer.

It was like driving a car that you drove all your life it’s all you knew. I ask this question. I assume in the picture is the transsexual woman in question. In my opnion there is nothing there to openly give away that she was anything else other than a woman. Therefore how did this attacker know she was a Transsexual?  Attacks physically or verbally on anyone is very wrong regardless but why was she singled out? I also note the article is very poorly written. Im no Grammer expert. Far from it But theres a big diffrence between Cheese cakes and Pea cakes. I would assume this is a translation error. However It would have been nice to have been proof read before publication (Thats something the daily mail wouldnt do) I noticed also it doesnt give her name. Which to me seems strange as shes happy to share her picture.  Btw its nice to see someone other than me still use the word Transsexual in there describrition. I was under the impression that this word was only used to describe Dinosaurs and people like me. So yay if its making a comeback     So Malta gay Rights movement Ask these questions. Why is the alledged perpertrator got his face pixelated. Name and shame.  If he did whats alledged. This is a way to catch him i would have been inclined to think. So he could be punnished for this alledged  crime. If a crime has happened. Your not gonna catch him if you cannot identify him. Msida only has a population of 8,545  or there abouts he wont be to hard to find.   It doesnt sway from the fact. LETS ALL BE CAREFULL OUT THERE.  Dont put yourself in a postion where you dont feel you can not remove yourself from with haste. Stay safe
    • Maid In Bedlam
One sided story. Its a Media thing. It makes news to portray the trans person as the one that was the victim. I would really like to know what happened before they was chucked out. Was it justified?  They never told you the reasons and what was said. All you see is people being thrown out. Wheres the interview with the straight hetro couple. My god why so many labels? It wouldnt have made the news if they wasnt trans. If they had not had such a heavy drinking session as Vicky highlighted then perhaps this wouldnt have happened. It was noted the amount of booze was flowing. I know women that butter wouldnt melt in there mouths. if they are sober but get a drink in them and they are like wild banshees. Me personally if i have had one to many ill just giggle a lot and smile like a chesire cat   I will grant you they was a little heavy handed.  Surely thats assault. Maybe the trans group should seek legal advise instead of protesting?
