Hi,

I went for a makeover day and photoshoot recently. Is it okay if I share some photos from it and get your opinions on some things?

So first thing, I tried on a lot of different wigs and I wonder which styles I should consider styling my hair in future.

Here is me with my current natural hair:

And here are the different wigs:

Which do people think would work well on me when my hair grows long enough?

Hey Kris, looking good! Sounds like you had some fun! :)

If I'm allowed to pitch in, my fav i 7 followed by 8, and I also really like 6 (but that's my personal taste)! But you look good in all of them, although I didn't really care much for #3. I think the darker tones compliment your skin tone best. But I'm no expert, it's just my personal humble preference!

In the end, it should be about what makes you feel good and most like yourself! Something that expresses your personality! That's something I struggled myself with, usually what others thought looked best on me didn't feel right because it catered to their perspective of me and their gender preconceptions.

Also, if I may, I find that have a style icon helps.

Anyway, what are your favs out of these?

Thanks for this. I think it might be the case that darker colours work better on me as I am rather pale.

The thing is I really like all of them (there were more we tried but didn't include here) . Currently looking at these my gender euphoria is shooting right up so I find it hard to judge. All my brain goes is "OMG so pretty!!!" ???

As such I wanted to get other people's thoughts as well.

Looking at your photos makes me happy, I think because I can sense your excitement :)

I think you don't have to stick to darker, if you don't want to, as long as the color has warmer tones in it I think you can do blond. If you fancy it of course!

I had a phase where I was really into reading about how to look your best what all that, back when I thought I had to stick to being f. Turns out there is more to just dark and light. I came across a lot of stuff about warm and cold undertones, in skin and hair and how it's all about complementing your natural undertones. Or something like that. It's a whole world of it's own!

Looking at the photos again, your make-up looks pretty warm too, so maybe that's also why I find that the warmer hair suits you best..? Cause they go together well. I don't know, I'm sorry I think I'm getting into graphic designer mode! :P

Haha fair enough.

It is just so weird for me to look at pictures like this and like what I see of myself and feel they are actually me.

Hi Kris, not surprised you are happy to see yourself, some lovely photos ? Not that anyone other than you matters in these things, but I liked 1,6 and 9, as I think they look most natural for everyday use and emphasise things like your cheekbones and your kawaii eyes - but I have to say that 6 was my personal favourite of the ones you have put up - possibly because it looks like you are close to being able to do that anyway with your natural hair.

Hello Kris, The make up was done very nicely.  I must say I like number 1 your natural hair as it does look "natural".  The last one looks good on you as well.  As far as looking pale, estrogen will seem to do that.  We eventually loose any rudiness in our skin.  My mother commented soon after I started E that I needed a little pink blush to give my face some color.  As you see it makes a world of difference.   It seems to be the trend now but I find some women go too heavy and wide with the eyebrows.  I favor lighter, thinner ones.  Something to consider.

Looking at photos such as these is enjoyable, seeing the woman that was locked inside.  Enjoy!

Maybe i'm showing my age but apart from your own hail i like # 6.  It is stunning as it shows off your eyes and while the color may say older the cut and your face says young, perky and energetic.

Ah thank you.

I am not on Estrogen yet (just naturally pale) but I feel quite complimented you thought I was.

To be fair I have known mums who go out of their way to dress like the first photo just to collect their kids from school in a 4x4 that has never been off road in its life, but they are universally despised by the rest of us who just try to get there on time - so - absolutely, right place right right time applies to cis women too. ?

I'm going to be a bit of a rebel here, but #8 looks easily what your hair can become for you.  I agree with Char that they are a bit over the top for office wear or grocery shopping, but going out for a nice evening totally do it for you.

The last one with the silver hairpiece is very nice.  That style suits you face really well.  That color is fashionable now and you can see why, it makes your eyes just shine.

On my earlier comment, oops my bad! but I'm glad I made your day. ?

Cheers,

Jani

Thank you all for your lovely comments you are brilliant.

Honestly still can't believe how happy these pictures and people's comments are making me. My gender euphoria is just so high.

On the hair I think I am probably musing between 6 and 7 now. A lot of different people have told me how good I would look in 6 and it was a lot of fun looking like that. But 7 maybe feels more me. But I am going to keep musing. (And staring at all the pictures to keep giving me that sweet euphoria ?

Stunning photos.  Makeup is done very well and compliments your bone structure perfectly.  I like all the wigs on you but favor 1, 8, & 9 most. Your natural hair is very nice too.  You're looking great and I like your outfit in the second photo in the second set of pics.

Thanks for sharing,

Susan R?

I think 2&6 for wigs. Scrolling through those two look most naturally flowing.

I like the full photos too. That looks like a fun thing to do. But I’ll keep my thoughts on style to myself cause......

This is kind of who I am. ??‍♀️  I’ll 100% wear a dress an wedge heels to grocery shop. And I enjoy putting in the effort on myself all the time. Live hard and play hard. Always.

the first full photo is how I look too most of the time when I am out shopping. I know most cis women don't look like that but it makes me happy and I feel more comfy in a bodycon dress and high heels than jeans and flats.

lol, serves me right for typing that. :) ? It isn't the looking good Kirsten - that's just being a yummy mummy - it's the looking like you just stepped out of a salon and are actually on your way out for an evening of ballroom dancing or theatre, I have heard lots of grumbles and sniping as the invisible 'man... but at the end of the day people can and should dress however they want to, some ways will always just stand out more.

I know what you meant Dee. It’s mostly for me partly because I dress like a guy basically all the time for my job. So when I am not in jeans work boots and tattered shirts, I am in fancy look at me kind of outfits with plenty of makeup and colored hair and all that kind of stuff. ??‍♀️ I just like it I guess. That’s kinda who “that girl” is. And just ask my wife. I am very much one of those girls I guess. Lol. I think it’s supposed to be a bad thing, but not to me. ?

I'll chime in that I liked 5, 7, 8, & 9...with 8 being my favorite. Ombre is a very popular look with the gals stateside right now. But those red tones in your second set of photos are rockin'! You could really pick any of them and be stunning. Thanks for sharing! And let us know which one you end up choosing ?

That's me too, Mae.  I don't think it's me as much as it is the camera (that's my story anyway).  Cameras hate me.  I never met one that liked me.  I often wish I was photogenic; sadly, not so much.   However, you look terrific in that selfie!

What an amazing life you've shared with your wife. I can understand the trepidation you had at telling her at that point in your relationship but it certainly saved all of the guilt, the questioning and the secrecy that would have filled your lives had you not.   I'm on the other end of the spectrum having denied and buried my truth for decades and fast approaching 50 years of marriage when the dysphoria and depression finally came to critical mass and I unloaded it all on a New Year's Day morning. As you might imagine, it led to a lot of questions, of questioning everything, of anger and hurt on my wife's part. Guilt, embarrassment, fear...and anything else you can imagine on my part.   Thankfully, our love for each other has always been the foundation of our relationship and, ultimately, we both agreed that staying together was what we both wanted. It was a tough year but, now into the 2d since my coming out, we've hit our stride and are exploring this new norm in our life.   I do so love your blog.

I thought I would try my version of this. Changes in bold.   I am Transgender.  Sometimes it is remote, sometimes close. Sometimes I am euphoric, sometimes depressed. It is something I cannot get away from and cannot welcome enough. I see some things both ways that neither men as men see or women as women see.  I can be gentle and compassionate and hard as nails. I was born with male genitals but a female heart   I have my heart.  Whatever it is. When I look at a female, I wish I looked like her  Depends on the woman.  When I look at a male, I wish I did not look like him   Ditto. I envy female movements, softness, behaviors, appearances, fashion...EVERYTHING Female Depends. Sometimes I get angry at them because women spend time and energy in ways men don't.  It is not necessarily bad.  I could do without the gossip. Not all women gossip.  Excessive focus on fashion is something I find annoying. And expensive. I tolerate all things male out of social obligation...not because I feel like a man or because it makes me happy....but because that's what I was forced to believe was my only choice....beginning in early childhood. Sometimes it is helpful to put on the Iron Man suit and act accordingly.  But I have seen some tough women. When I look at myself in the mirror in only bra and panties...I can see my nude female body...and it makes me smile and feel amazing and warm inside....yet sad because that is not my reality. I could go either way, mostly. Really.  In tests in the last two years technicians have gone really quiet when they see how little body and leg hair I have.  I looked at myself this morning.  Remove a few clues and a girl is standing there. When I look at myself in the mirror in only boxers...I can see my nude male body and it saddens me deeply and makes me feel sick and depressed...and at times...even ashamed....Because this IS my reality. At this point I am not going to do that. In the mood I am in I might break the mirror. My true gender does not influence my sexual interests or preferences...or change who I am....in any form or fashion. Gender identity is in no way connected to anything sexually related on any level.  Not sure I want to make that statement so categorically. Life as a male leaves me with a feeling that something is off...that something is missing...that something is not as it should have been.   Well put. The idea of having to continue living as a male...as someone I am not...for the rest of my life...even if its only part time...causes great sadness and anxiety within myself. I've got priorities beyond this that this must fit into. The idea of living as the girl I am and always have been on a full time basis...regardless of where I am, what I am doing or who I am around...brings me great joy, happiness and a sense of peace within myself.  Would be neat. Looking like and living as a girl makes me smile.   Would be neat.  There are downsides.  Looking like and living as a guy makes me sad.   I have had lots of practice accepting this. I am Transgender....I am a girl

Bob had the night off from teaching kara-tay and they planned to spend a lot of it at Cabaret.   Once in, Taylor waited for her man to park and looked around.  There was a sign "Mary, Paul and Peter LIVE tonight" and, sure enough, three microphones were standing in the open area.  A new hostess came up to her. "Are you alone?" "Oh, no.  He's coming." Taylor was led to a table. Bob was there in a minute and managed to get in there and seat her.  She smiled. "The act will be along in a few minutes. And Congratulations! I am SO EXCITED!!" Taylor responded to his look. "I got promoted." "To what?" "Head of Marketing." "You're kidding." "Nope.  It seems the Board finally woke up to the fact that the China cash cow may come to an end and they need to do something. Did you know that the VPs on up all get over a million dollars in compensation without really doing anything?" "No." "I am supposed to figure out how to re-energize over thirty acres of factory that have laid idle for forty years or more." "Why don't they do it?" She whispered,"the head of production is the son of the previous head of production. He has never produced anything."  She explained that everything was made in China and exported back to the US and sold under different brand names. "How am I going to find someone?" He smiled. "Congratulations. Sounds like a problem.  Hey, today we were talking about problems at our Philly plant.  One, it was built before World War 2. Second the city and state are tightening regulations and the tax structure is adverse.  Third, we get protestors every day, some of whom break into the factory.  People are talking about relocating." "We are forty miles from an interstate." "That is a plus.  Makes it harder for protestors to find us if we moved here." "You are really thinking that?" "I am, right now. I can't speak for the company.  I know there is a rail line." "Spur, actually, with several sidings.  The buildings are in good shape." "Do you have about five acres we could look at? How about if I take some pictures and send them off?" "Great.  And protestors would not be tolerated in Millville.  The factory area once upon a time was the main employer and people are very protective." Two weeks later she was in Philadelphia with Gibson and a few others.  The deal was signed and by end of summer ten acres, with an option on another ten, were being upgraded and equipment was coming in by rail. Not five, but ten.  She got a $20,000 bonus out of the blue.  The company was flush with Chinese cash that they didn't know what to do with. She was developing plans. But back to dinner.  "Did I tell you what they are paying me?" "No." She told him. "That is more than I am making." "You don't sound happy." "It takes some getting used to.  You are Management and Croesus combined." "Yeah. Is this a problem?" "No.  As I said, it takes some getting used to."  The musicians arrived and were introduced: three local teenagers in Peter Paul and Mary clothing and wigs like it was the 60s.  They began singing. "They are good," she said. "They are lip-synching." "They are good at lip-synching." They listened for a while. "Work is going to be intense for a while." "I'll bet." "I won't be able to talk to you about some of it." "I bet." They had a good evening.   The high point for Bob was that she let him put his hand on hers.  The high point for her was Bob did not seem threatened by her now being Management and making more than he did with a Masters. She didn't tell him she was likely to be in on the distribution of money the Chinese sent every year to keep them fat and happy.  But she had to finish up that report, so the evening ended early.  He drove her home, checked her apartment for people and again walked away hearing her lock the door three times.  She didn't say it, but he knew she was going to have a long talk with her therapist as well.   Her therapist was a night owl.
