Is this normal??

I started T-injections 2 weeks ago. The first shot was a night-and-day response, I felt GREAT!!! No depression or anxiety for a couple of days, it really felt like my body was absorbing every molecule of T it could after being so starved for it all my life! Even my metabolism kicked back on almost overnight. I was amazed at the speed of results! The second shot didn't have the same punch, but I figured it was because its the week before the Dreaded Time, when my PMDD is raging the worst. Tonight, I'm within days of my usual time for Shark week, and the depression is just as horrible as it was before the first shot, and I'm feeling bloated and slow-metabolized again! My question is, is this some sort of rebound? Is it related to my female hormones still in play? Do I just need to ride this out and wait for Shark week to be over to see those great T-shot results again? I'm kind of concerned because I already have autoimmune issues in my endocrinological system, so I am kind of freaking out thinking my body is rejecting the T I've been so desperate to get! Should I wait until after this time to make a call to my Endo? Has this happened to anyone else (FtM)? Help!!!

If you are concerned i would definitely call your endocrinologist.  Injections can cause big swings but regardless it's best to be safe and not worried.

Hope that helps.  I doubt anyone can really help as none of us are MDs and if we were we'd certainly need more information.

Big Hugs,

Charlize

Normal, I do not really know, but it is not unusual.  Part of our initial response to the hormones is a Placebo Effect that is the result of our having gotten on them after a long struggle and a feeling of triumph over nature.    In reality, it will take 3 to six months for the first real effects to begin on our bodies.  The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) Standards of Care V7 which is in a topic here on the forums has tables showing when to expect certain effects of HRT, and almost all of the effects begin in the 3 to 6 month time frame, and complete themselves in 3 to 6 years.

That said, each of us is different in how we are going to react to the hormones even "normally" so I fully agree with the other two posts for you to contact your Endocrinologist or even Gynecologist so that they can monitor you and give you care for any pain or unusual anxiety issues that develop.  This is a long journey, and while we do get an initial "HIGH", much of it is life as it was before that is slowly but steadily moving forward.

Thanks for your responses. I did contact my Endo, but she didn't respond. The good news is, it does seem to be tied to hormonal cycles, so now that Hell week is over I feel absolutely great again. Good to know I'll have to deal with this for a while....

I know this is a process so I'm not expecting instant results, I was just surprised at the sudden good things. I'm feeling the same good things but without the huge swing, so I'm guessing this is the progress I'll be building on? I can work with that! Any time anxiety falls to manageable levels, I'll take it!

it may happen some more times, its kind of like going through a 2nd puberty. i think mood swings and depression happens alot in male puberty.

Update: I'm doing amazing on T. After the 5th shot this morning, I'm noticing my voice is already starting to deepen. I'm shocked its happening so quickly! There are other big changes so far, and I'm loving every one of them. Feeling good, like the me I was always meant to be!

Sally, a moderator can edit the post adding "Post 3" if you would like. Let me know and I'll be glad to take care of it. That way your numbering system is in tact.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I thought Hey, I can't be experiencing Gender destroyer because it doesn't fit the narrative, but Hey I can. I am experiencing mild discomfort in relation to my gender. Because and that can be a form of mild form of it this forum because their elements of my gender that are out of alignment with my sign gender at birth. There are elements of my gender I have been holding back on some I did not even know for fear it did not fit was told was not very manly or in some other way not correct for someone who is an amab. I tried embracing and expressing some of these parts of me even for just a little bit every once in a while and it feels like a relief to me like a weight has been lifted.

Welcome to Transgender Pulse Forums @violet r   I think we all were scared with our first post here on TPF. I hope you come to find this site as welcoming as an old friend. Not knowing the type of retail you're in, it is hard to know how they will react to your coming out. I would hope that if it's part of a larger corporation they may have corporate policies supporting/protecting you once you decide to come out publicly. No one here will rush you, or try to slow you down, once you've decided to come out. Some of us are secret sisters, and others of us are as flamboyant as they come. The cool this is you get to choose. You be you.   Best wishes, stay positive, and motivated,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Welcome aboard, Violet. What a pretty name!   You are among friends here. We are all on a journey, with things in common despite our individual uniqueness. I hope that makes sense!

Welcome Violet.  It's been awhile since i found this space with so many who understand the struggle to simply be ourselves in a society that often disapproves,  It isn't an easy path but being together we can share all the bumps and the joys. You are not alone.   Hugs,   Charlize

I'm sorry it didn't work out for the new job. Nothing to keep you from being on the search. I had a coworker who used to walk out of the locker room saying; "I was looking for a job with I found this one and I'll keep searching for the next one. Never let them think you're comfortable and settled."   The coffee has just finished brewing, and we have a HVAC technician coming in about 30 minutes to do an annual system check.   It's time to get out of my Pj's.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
