I just bought the farm from him

Well i just managed another hurdle i had ignored for years.  He had owned the farm......Taxes were paid in his name because according to the deed he owned the farm.  Strangely it was easiest for me to just buy the farm.  A pretty good bargain at $10.

Maybe my taxes will go down since they are based on value?  At any rate more of the junk mail aimed at the land owner will be properly addressed. :D

Yeah!  Great news Charlize.  I can only imagine that changing the documentation was more expense than the purchase price!

Yup....I needed a lower to start and fortunately had a friend who is interested in helping trans folks who helped for a reasonable amount.  The filing fees will come as a bill later.  I went to see our local accessor.  He's a nice young man who understood and soon my listing will change locally as well in county and state records.  What a pain but i'm finally getting to a few loose ends from the past.

Fortunately i haven't bought the farm in the other sense.

Ahhh those pesky loose ends!   I "fixed" the gender marker at my credit union and insurance company recently.   My old company where I get a pension still thinks its "he" and I should look into this one as its the last thing on my list.  Thankfully its just the gender marker and not my name.

Cheers, Jani

That's great, Charlize.  Congrats!  Yes, those loose ends take quite the time and effort to tidy up, but it feels good when its done.  It was five years after transition before I got around to changing title on our house.  Now all you have to do is get that mortgage paid off.  ?

HUGS
