Health issues seem resolved. Now a cancer survivor.

I met with my general practitioner in May, because I was having some abdominal "discomfort", told the doctor something just didn't feel right.

so I was scheduled for a colonoscopy, edoscopy, CAT scan, kidney ultrasound, plus lots of bloodwork.

I am 7 weeks out of surgery that removed a cancerous (low grade thank goodness) tumor in my stomach. While Oncology will be my follow up friend forever after, I'm considered cancer free.

Since my therapist/gender counselor had insisted we wait til issues were resolved before meeting with the docs to go forward with HRT, I will be set to move forward in late October.

Hurray.

Bottom line, if something doesn't feel right, pay attention!

Looks like you are on the way!   I had a cancer scare a few months after my GCS, but luckily not the real thing so I have a small idea of how you must feel about this.

I'm glad that they were able to get it all and you are now Cancer free.  That has to be a wonderful feeling.  I was diagnosed in March with Hurthle Cell Cancer of the Thyroid, and had a total thyroidectomy.  while my lab work is all normal, my latest ultrasound showed several lymph nodes in my neck that they suspect may have metastatic cancer in them.  At this point, my doctors are taking a watch and see approach, as they don't seem to be growing at the moment.  They say I am a Cancer Survivor, but won't declare me as 'cancer free'  yet.  Maybe one day.

Again, I am so happy that they have said you are cancer free.  A cancer diagnosis is a very traumatic thing and is life changing.

It's been a rollercoaster ride for sure.

Thank you both for the encouragement - for a while I was afraid of all sorts of possible disasters. But now that I'm over the hump, I'm starting to feel brave in all areas of my life.

Late October sees a series of doctor appointments with primary care, oncology & therapy. I expect to get my hormone panel workup then. My informed consent statement was completed in April, but everything had been on hold pending surgery.

I'm on vacation until mid-October.

But my heart has been searching out its path, and my comfort level with myself has grown.

(Insert happy dance here!)

Oh Yes!  I had cancer and so has my spouse.  The whole process from finding out to surgery to healing can be draining emotionally as well as physically.  I am glad to hear you are considered cancer free.  So now you should be able to pursue HRT which is great news.  Enjoy your vacation!

Although the VA often has a questionable track record for care, with me they were very prompt, flexible to accommodate my travel plans, and very sweet to me. Made me feel very reassured.

I am so thankful.

Also glad to hear that you and your spouse are on the other side of that ordeal.

When medical people start dodging around the "c" word, it certainly raises the fear level.

Paying attention to your body is so important. If something doesn't feel right, it's very important to get it checked out. Avoiding the doctors can be fatal!

This is a great analogy. The statement is true as it relates to the tree. The analogy fits because we as a LGBTQIA community are stronger when we stand together. It also work here on Transgender Pulse Forums. The support I feel from so many others has made me comfortable with my stance, because I'm in a beautiful forest of friends. So when I'm out alone and confronted. I can respond and act like the single tree in the field, surviving whatever comes my way. My roots reach back and communicate with others like me.    Standing Strong,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Mindy, that would be so awesome of you.  Please make the edit for me, and thank you so much!

      M.   The term bigender works for me because after taking the time to explore my feelings, I kept coming to the same conclusion, that while I felt an overpowering need to express my inner woman, I also enjoyed being a man.  I realized that my personality was equal parts man and woman and to be happy and fulfilled, I needed to express both sides.  There are challenges living a life of two-gender expression, but I'll expand on some of those in future posts.     Hugs,   Sally

Sally, a moderator can edit the post adding "Post 3" if you would like. Let me know and I'll be glad to take care of it. That way your numbering system is in tact.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I thought Hey, I can't be experiencing Gender destroyer because it doesn't fit the narrative, but Hey I can. I am experiencing mild discomfort in relation to my gender. Because and that can be a form of mild form of it this forum because their elements of my gender that are out of alignment with my sign gender at birth. There are elements of my gender I have been holding back on some I did not even know for fear it did not fit was told was not very manly or in some other way not correct for someone who is an amab. I tried embracing and expressing some of these parts of me even for just a little bit every once in a while and it feels like a relief to me like a weight has been lifted.

Welcome to Transgender Pulse Forums @violet r   I think we all were scared with our first post here on TPF. I hope you come to find this site as welcoming as an old friend. Not knowing the type of retail you're in, it is hard to know how they will react to your coming out. I would hope that if it's part of a larger corporation they may have corporate policies supporting/protecting you once you decide to come out publicly. No one here will rush you, or try to slow you down, once you've decided to come out. Some of us are secret sisters, and others of us are as flamboyant as they come. The cool this is you get to choose. You be you.   Best wishes, stay positive, and motivated,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Welcome aboard, Violet. What a pretty name!   You are among friends here. We are all on a journey, with things in common despite our individual uniqueness. I hope that makes sense!
