Canadian Rape Shelter Facing Death Threats After Excluding Trans Women

I hope this cannot be traced to an actual Transgender organization or individual.  I know only a very few Trans people who would support the violence indicated.  I understand the frustration of the Trans people in the community this agency serves but one part of me sees this as coming from some supporters of the agency itself in regard to its policy and recent turn down by the local city council for permits.  The idea that its clients need to be protected from Trans people because they are violent.

I do not support "Separate But Equal" but Trans and Cis women need quality care in the field of shelter and emergency care for violence associated with being women, and I do believe both groups, at least at first need shelter with their own kind for emotional healing.  I will put the burden on the protesting Trans group to do more than protest.  Get your fannies out there and create one for your Trans siblings!!   Do NOT pull the terrorist thing.

I’m very shocked. There’s several examples of transgender shelters here in the states that are funded by transgender groups. I’m sure a city the size of Vancouver can follow the example as well. Yes it’s unfortunate that the shelter doesn’t include transgender women who are just as susceptible to violence and abuse but they also have to think of their clients who might be apprehensive about transgender women even if the apprehension is unfounded. Perhaps a median solution would be to open a second shelter for transgender women to allay those fears on both sides of the argument, but I suspect that in the current volatile political climate, that’s easier said than done. Any way you slice it, there’s controversy. I’m hoping that this vandalism and threatening is someone who is falsifying and trolling for backlash against the decision and not transgender activists. But now that it’s been done the emotional response is definitely going to escalate things.

Have an arrests been made regarding this incident yet?

I find it pretty dispicable. To be honest.

Has there been any widespread condemnation of the actions of these mindless few?

Regardless of if you think its right or wrong that the shelter will not surport Transgender people i think its sickening that graffiting buildings and nailing dead rodents to the doors has certain overtones of a certain german leaders ideology in the persecution of the Jews in the 1930s. We have all seen Pictures from history of berlin shops with slogans and graffiti dubbed on there windows. Much the same way as we have seen in this article.

It started like this. Im all for free speech. However there is a civilisied way and a way which would be deemed wrong on many levels

maybe you think this is an overreaction. mirroring this to an event in history where many innocents were murdered for no reason other than being born into something. But never again should we allow this sort of behavior.

But when is it going to stop? Will Cis rape victimes become the oppresed for something beyond there control?  Will the workers in this building become the victims of mindless attack? Just how the jews were just for being jewish. perhaps the LGBT comunity will be seen as nothing more than radicals who are just a joke with no respect for anyone other than themselves and believe the world should be revolving around them.

This is why this sort of behavior should be nipped in the bud and examples made of the mindless thugs who promote this kind of action. Where are all the so called trans representitives condemming this?

Being honest. Do they actually think that the centre will start to accept Transgender woman because of there graffti and actions. If anything it will show they are nothing but a bunch of people with delusions of superirorty who have a god given rights to be the special ones. they will close the doors for good on any trans inclusion.

Debate it. Talk about it. Why oh why cannot an agreement be reached without the need for this mindless acts of vandallism. Whats next?

We are not like this.

Whos next to be seen as an enemy of the Trans? This does our ideology and the promotion of the trans community no justice. Its very easy to be tarred with the same brush.

Good morning all,    It’s a frosty morning here the lawn looks silvery, and the uncovered spring flowers have icy edges on their leaves. The only flower bed I covered was my tulips. As nice as it is here during the day, our clear wind free nights allow the temperatures to drop into the mid twenties. Here in our growing zone it’s recommended that you not plant delicate plants until Mother’s Day. Central Indiana can have snow as late as the third week of May. The birds are active at the feeders, I’ve had my cup of yoghurt and morning meds. So I’ll sit here, drink coffee and watch the as the sunrise chases the frost from the yard.    @awkward-yet-sweet I could eat black eyed peas as a side for every meal. Boil them plain or with fatback. Served as a leftover, just add in a little Rotel Original Diced Tomatoes & Green Chilies.  Make the best of your day,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Morning, y'all. Evening here; we had the regulation three mugs full today. Now it's time to drink something else.     No big plans here either, eldest daughter and granddaughter will be arriving on Saturday, and we will have our granddaughter to ourselves for a week after that. We still have plans though. Tuesday we'll go to the swim center, Wednesday we'll take a road trip to visit my mom, Thursday we'll get some mulch delivered to top up the gardens.   I still make other small plans on a daily basis though. The things I do plan nowadays, which is a bit new for me, is that after pinching a nerve and ending up in a bit of pain and getting some treatment from the physio, I am more motivated than ever to exercise more regularly. Tuesday for example, I went for a short (15 minute) early morning walk, went to the pool for some hydrotherapy, and mowed the lawns. Yesterday I did my exercise reps and spent some time on the exercise bike. Today, I went for a 45-minute walk, tomorrow I will do my reps again and go for a long bike ride. As long as I do at least one thing every day, right? The pleasing thing is that I'm losing weight! I blew out to above 95kg early in the year and I'm just under 91kg now. Yay me!

What one piece of advice would you give to beginning transitioners or considering transition?

Positive side of the mixed bag.

Boredom is an emotional state that comes when a person has nothing to do, and is not interested in anything. To stop boredom, most people do something to occupy or amuse themselves. The first known use of the word boredom is in the novel Bleak House by Charles Dickens, written in 1852, but the saying to be a bore had been used to mean "to be tiresome or dull" since 1768. When referring to the mind, boredom is a bad state in which the person feels a deep lack of interest in what is going on around them, and where it is hard to focus.

So, yesterday's epiphany was that girl jeans fit me much nicer than boy jeans. Well, duh! So this girl is switching over to wearing girl jeans pretty much full time. I'll keep my others for work jeans. We went out to dinner last evening and I was in androgynous mode...wearing a pair of Bandolino Amy straight leg denim pants. Score!
