One off my bucket list...Professionally Done Nails

I know, I know...I'm probably the very last one of us here that hadn't gone out and had their nails done professionally.  First off, I have to tell you, I am feeling so happy tonight.  My wife and I spent the day pampering ourselves and decided it was time.  Since I can remember I've always had somewhat of a fascination with long beautiful nails.  In my earlier years I was never "full-time" and had to present part of the day as a male so the Press-On Nails were always my friend.  I think I may have been solely responsible for keeping that company alive through the 80's.  Back then Press-On Nails didn't have half the choices in colors, textures, and designs that they do today but they worked...when they stayed on, of course.

I didn't go full time full time until May of this year so up until then I had to paint them myself or have my wife do them for me.  Today, I took the plunge and got the color and design I've wanted for a very long time.  And after seeing the final result, I may not ever be able to go back to painting them myself.

Here's a pic but imho it doesn't do them justice...<kidding>

Fabulous Susan! It is on my list of things to do one day too, my sister knows someone who is Trans friendly so I know there is somewhere I can go without being terrified, but having to present male most of the time makes that a moot exercise at the moment. I hope you enjoyed the experience :)

 Your Nails look great Susan!

I love the look and finish i get at the salon.  It took time to get comfortable but now i go in about once a month for a mani-pedi.  Unfortunately i'm no longer able to reach my left foot.  What a luxury to lay back, turn on the message chair and get my toes tidy and pretty.  I'm due again.   Mmmmmm

Hugs,

Charlize

I wish I could have longer nails like that. But when I remove vehicle keys from keyrings at work they would break. Yours look great though!?

Lots of love,

No you're not the last one here to do that.  I haven't!  My wife has her's done regularly and I have considered it.  Unfortunately I am prone to breaking mine regularly and now that I'm back on one of my meds (was taken off for two months) that affects them, my nails are back to cracking and splitting.  Argh!   "B" said she would treat, but I think I'll wait until we travel for a wedding in December.

They do look glorious Susan!  I'm sure they are stunning in person.

Very pretty, Susan.  Congrats to you and your nail tech.  I agree that getting nails done is a wonderful experience.

Thank you all for your nice comments.  I enjoy reading good news but sharing good news only happens now and again.

@DeeDee I did enjoy it.  This place I had them done at was was a huge spa & nail place recommended by many of my close friends.  It was worth every dime.  Of course, being that in my area school starts today, it seemed every daughter and their mom was there getting theirs done too.  I had to wait 45 mins to get started.

@Charlize I only went for the manicure to get the acrylic nails done this time.  My wife had a pedicure and I was watching her enjoy the "other" luxury services they offer with that.  I can tell you that next time that will have to be included in the pampering session..lol. I was told by one of my girlfriends to always get the mani and pedi done separately so you can enjoy the leg and foot massage without having to move your hands around on command.  Also, my wife feet are now so soft.  It was worth $5 extra for her to get the paraffin waxing done on her feet too.

@Timber Wolf I noticed now with these thicker acrylic nails that I was having difficulty too doing a few things that I could do fine with long natural nails.  I needed to change my Samsung Phone and they have a weird cover over the changing port.  I couldn't get that thing off for the life of me last night.  I had to ask my wife if she would do it.  Tough times are ahead..lol.

@Cyndee Thank you, hon.  You're always a sweetheart to me.

@Jani thanks Jani,  I do like the way they look but I really enjoy they way they make me feel too.   It's was really worth it.   On your other subject, I had a thumb nail issue too where my left thumb nail started developing a center ridge and would then split when it grew out to the end too long.  I've always had to keep that nail shorter than the others before going acrylic yesterday.  A few months ago, I started taking this nail and hair biotin enriched supplement everyday and it has helped me a bit with that issue.  The ridge had lessened a bit too.

@Carolyn Marie thank you.  It has been a wonderful experience.  I did experience some very dull aching on all my nails yesterday afternoon and still their as I was heading to bed.  My wife said, "Oh that's normal after the very first time you get them done."  Why is it in 57 years I've never heard of a woman complaining of nail pain after getting her nails done?  This was news to my ears.  The good news is that the dull pain is almost completely gone this morning.

Thanks again everyone for sharing this with me,

Susan R?

I need to restart the Biotin too.  I used it when I had that same ridge issue.  Thanks for the reminder!

I'm thinking about some interactions yesterday I did, while presenting as male but acting as female, that were far better than I did when I was presenting as male and acting as male.  #girlunderhood. I do a crappy job at acting as male and I am giving it up.  I am not talking about feminine gestures or presentation but just relating as a woman.  People don't realize I am doing it but it is a whole lot easier to do.   You don't just put on a dress and BOOM you are a girl.  You are a girl and you put on a dress.  Or not. Whether I am in jeans or a skirt (I wish, wife would have lots to say) I am a girl.  I don't need $250 in makeup and heels and hose and all that.  I don't need surgery. Honey, I have arrived.  Now I have to work out how that best works in my life, causing the minimal damage and creating the maximum good, but I have more working room.   Oh, and I am still pissed off at everyone and everything. #Contradictory.

@Willow it is certainly possible that my husband planned it. Placing me in the path of an opportunity....he certainly does things like that. GF has done some work for the company as an outside consultant, so I'm sure the company owner knows what potential resources are around.    It could also have just happened randomly. He has taken me to work with him before, just because he likes to have me around. I remember one time that I fell asleep with my head in his lap, and he held a meeting with his subordinates without waking me and making me move.  The company culture is family oriented and relaxed.

The photo is great.  Software is phenomenal but it also is sort of a promise of things to come. Years ago this sort of thing took a photographer and Photoshop and all sorts of things and you would say, "I can look like THIS??"   Me, I am a duck.  That's from my driver's license.  Just kidding.

I lucked into that picture. I took like 10 before that, which appropriately make me look like a donkey. ;)   Thank you so much for the compliment!

This is a great analogy. The statement is true as it relates to the tree. The analogy fits because we as a LGBTQIA community are stronger when we stand together. It also work here on Transgender Pulse Forums. The support I feel from so many others has made me comfortable with my stance, because I'm in a beautiful forest of friends. So when I'm out alone and confronted. I can respond and act like the single tree in the field, surviving whatever comes my way. My roots reach back and communicate with others like me.    Standing Strong,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Mindy, that would be so awesome of you.  Please make the edit for me, and thank you so much!

      M.   The term bigender works for me because after taking the time to explore my feelings, I kept coming to the same conclusion, that while I felt an overpowering need to express my inner woman, I also enjoyed being a man.  I realized that my personality was equal parts man and woman and to be happy and fulfilled, I needed to express both sides.  There are challenges living a life of two-gender expression, but I'll expand on some of those in future posts.     Hugs,   Sally

Sally, a moderator can edit the post adding "Post 3" if you would like. Let me know and I'll be glad to take care of it. That way your numbering system is in tact.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I thought Hey, I can't be experiencing Gender destroyer because it doesn't fit the narrative, but Hey I can. I am experiencing mild discomfort in relation to my gender. Because and that can be a form of mild form of it this forum because their elements of my gender that are out of alignment with my sign gender at birth. There are elements of my gender I have been holding back on some I did not even know for fear it did not fit was told was not very manly or in some other way not correct for someone who is an amab. I tried embracing and expressing some of these parts of me even for just a little bit every once in a while and it feels like a relief to me like a weight has been lifted.
