Democratic LGBTQ candidate debate tonight

Tonight 9/20/19  a group of candidates will hold a debate centered on issues facing our community.  It is on You Tube.  7 to 9 pm. 

Warren, Booker, Buttigieg, Biden, Harris, Castro, Klobuchar, Tabbaard, Sestak  and Wiiiamson are scheduled to debate.

Nice to hear that (some of) the candidates care enough about LGBT issues to participate in this.  I wish it had a better platform than YouTube, however.  Thanks for posting this, Charlize.

My E-mail inbox is flooded with invitations to "watch parties" at several venues here in So. Calif with friends insisting I must come see them.  I still have a few more days before I am ready to go out to that sort of thing however.  My body is largely recovered, but my "give-a-damn" has not yet come close to it.

Each one of them does have impressive points, but no a one has all the impressive points I need to see.  I will let it slide this time and listen to the fall-out in the coming days thank you.  Sigh (sad chuckle).

Do you know the URL? I've been searching YouTube and Google but can't find it. Is that 7 to 9pm eastern? If so, it would be on right now.

I may try to watch this later but if past debacles... er... debates are any indication of what usually transpires, I’m probably going to be thoroughly unimpressed with what another person so eloquently said was saying a lot of nothing and saying it well. Are these candidates just trying to capture us with a fishing net of catch phrases and promises that they can’t keep? Or are they really putting the effort in to help drive local change with their influence instead of just paying lip service so they can raise more funds to win an election, and once they win they can forget us, maybe name drop occasionally, or make excuses for why they can’t do what they promised. Having a certain candidate in office can improve the overall environment and make it more amicable, but what else are we getting with the slim hope of habitually unfulfilled promises? Would they be coupled with the trade off of some other less desirable policies? Any real impact is going to be local. It’s not really going to be with laws, it’s going to be with local organizations that are geared towards facilitating a better environment without the clunky Rube Goldberg machinery of government getting it all wrong. I’ll watch, but I’m highly skeptical because as we’ve seen before, even good changes can be for nothing and reversed, then what? We’re driving the bus from the wrong end. It’s not just wishful thinking, often times the changes we drive by just doing them are such good ideas that government hops on the bandwagon after it’s already been established and then they just make it official. Or maybe the correct phrase is that they hijack them and steal the credit for them. We spend so much time and energy trying to figure out who is actually sincere. We stand in line for hours waiting for our turn to check a box with someone’s name in it, stressing over whether or not the vote was rigged, only to get very little payoff other than perhaps an emotional one. So how do we drive change? By patronizing businesses that actually treat us with respect. By moving away from places that treat us badly. By taking our currency away from those who contributed to hostile politics and policy. By advocating for meaningful services. By networking with allies to connect all these things.
