Do some movies make you cry?

Hello everyone. My question is "Do some movies make you cry". I was watching "Pretty Woman" the other day and I cried during the final scene when Richard Geer climbed the stairs and he and Julia Roberts embraced. Tears of joy ....it was so beautiful. Do any of you have these movie moments like I do?

Oh god yes. It happened before I started my transition. It is much, much worse now. I just go with it.

Movies. TV. Anime (I watch a lot of shonen). Books. I hit an intense scene and the waterworks just switch on. It's glorious.

Hugs!

Yes.

Although the thread title showed "do some movies make you cr..." and I assumed "cringe" because there's that too.

I've always been that way: I sob my way through tear jerker movies, cringe my way through movies that have rapes in them, etc.

I'm emotional and I just let it all hang out. Doubt that will ever change.

I've found that crying comes easier now.  It was a stronger response shortly after starting HRT but even years later i can cry when not expected.  Some films just hit me but i don't know when or where that might happen.

Yup. I'm not even on HRT. I guess the lack of need to be stoic opens the flood gates sometimes.

Lots of love,

I'm a poor sap who cries watching great love stories.  Even before hormones, I would sometimes tear up and have to swallow deeply at the end of select movies.  Now it's a bit more of a scene.

These two movies cause me waterworks EVERY time!

A Walk To Remember (2002)

Far and Away (1992)

I boohoo just about every time I’m watching a decent story on movies or tv. Like others have said I did it before and now it’s even more so.

It used to be so embarrasing in times past, but I worry less now. I am prone to bursting into tears at all manner of odd moments. When they held the olymics here in London I had almost had to avoid the TV for days as tears would just flood out when the anthem played. Films are similar. There are some I avoid watching as they affect me so much. One of the biggest traumas from my childhood was watching The Snow Queen one Christmas. It's funny how something not real has perhaps more effect than episodes which were far more dangerous from then.

OH, yeah. I cry at a lot of movies. When the sad or romantic parts come, here comes the water works.  I cannot watch a Lassie movie without balling my brain out. So I don't watch them.

It's the hormones and why my real TG handle is "Mona," it is a part of my sense of humor with regards to the effects of hormones. Prior to transition nothing made me cry, now when having a discussion about something devastating like the death of my dog with a few genetic ladies, they see my eyes tear up and I can read their thoughts ("Oh isn't that darling!") as they give me warm and appreciated hugs.

Bambi, when her mother died (I was eight)

What dreams may come as I saw it not long after my dad had died without knowing what I was going to see.

The green mile also made me teary, but as a general rule I am so in control of my emotions usually just a watery eye is as close as I can get.

Though this year I have since added Avengers Endgame and a true story sports film I watched yesterday called "Greater" onto my list.

No reason other than I am just allowing myself a bit more freedom of expression recently.

I always tear up at the end of the movie, “Far and Away”.  The ending pulls on my heartstrings in a happy way.  But recently my wife and I watched “Boy Meets Girl” and for whatever the reason...it hit me like a ton of bricks.  I had a good cry even though it was probably not the most realistic plot line for a movie.

Susan R?

LOL, I noticed I had already mentioned “Far and Away” in a previous post on this same thread back in Oct.  oh well!  It’s hard to keep track of all the posts I make.

I always used to tear up watching emotional movies.  Now I do so even more.  The nice thing is that I no longer have to feel self-conscious about it. :)

I freakin cry over commercials!   Movies and TV series with sad or tear jerking scenes plow me right under.  My wife laughs at me so much over this.
I admit I like the freedom to do so now.  I don’t have to hold it in or hide it anymore.

I cry at the ending scene in LOTR-Return of the King.  When he sees Arwin.  And it continues when he kneels before the four hobits and tells them “you kneel for no one”.
I lost it before now I’m a wreck.  Lol

I tear up at just about anything even remotely sad. Even some sad music can get the water works going. I’m okay with it though. Feels good to be stretching my emotional range.

HA!  I knew there was at least one LOTR geek here with me!

Love those movies.  The Hobit movie series too.

Just powered threw the extended versions two weekends ago.

That a rough 10 or hours for the Hobit and 14 hours for LOTR.  Straight!

Yes I like them a bit.  LOL

I cannot remember a specific movie that made me cry, but I'm pretty sure there have been a few that made me teary. The end of long-running fictions tend to bring me more easily to tears. It's always hard to say goodbye to those when they followed you for months if not years.

This was one of the biggest struggles during my decades of living in denial, the fact that anything remotely emotional made me want to blubber, and I was constantly frustrated at how "un-manly" it made me feel. Even my wife, who is a very sensitive person, tends to be less emotional over movie and TV scenes than me. I could let it out a bit in front of her, but in other settings I got really good at scanning the room to make sure no one was looking when I wiped tears away.

I was crying this morning just thinking about a particularly nice person, so I would expect now that I'm self-aware, the waterworks are going to be truly open for business!

I kept meaning to comment on this thread but it kept slipping past me until it's already on page 2!

I am a major crybaby at movies and have been for as long as I can remember. As in sobbing loudly. Blubbering. What have you.

Tearjerkers really get my waterworks going.

I make no apologies for it. It just happens.

Wow that is a high number for Estradiol good grief! Testosterone levels are better than mine. I don't remember my Estradiol level but testosterone was 80. To me that is really high but it was in the two hundreds the check in before last one.

I don't understand why this would make a difference being a "dad" I mean, as far as how they would grow.

I don't see why not. I have worn forms since I came out.

I have never worn breastforms, but I assume as long as they don't aggravate your nipples you could.

Every week I've been excited to take my shot, so it's never been an issue. Yesterday, however, I woke up and started my usual "slow roll" and then suddenly realized I had breakfast plans that I had to rush out the door for. After, it was straight into work calls, and then I got the notification from the doctor about things being too high and all the while my mind had completely slipped that I needed take my shot.   Given that I am not asking for medical advice, but sharing my journey, I will note my results: Estradiol at 447 pg/mL and Testosterone was 23 ng/dL, up and down from 26 pg/mL and 526 ng/dL respectively before treatment. Almost flipped the bit! The doc would like my Estradiol closer to 300 pg/mL, so we'll see what Monday's tests state.   Oh, and I teased the dinner with old soccer teammates and never updated the thread! It went well. There were a couple funny moments. One guy, who I was worried about their response, greeted me with "Hey, you've lost some weight!" 😎 And a friend who lives near me picked me up on the way to dinner exclaimed, after we learned one of the invitees might show up with a date, "Wait! We could have brought women?!" To which I instantly responded, "You kind of did, bringing me!" Everyone got a good laugh out of that. 😁

To me there isn't that much difference other the measurement, which side the zipper is on and men's pants have bigger pockets.

I hope this is not stupid question..I have yet to start n not sure if doc will approve..but once you start growing buds n such, can you still wear forms to get to the size you were?   I'm a dad, so when I start blossoms they will be smaller for a long time n probably need surgical augmented..that's fine. I don't want to go ddd to aa to ddd..   any ideas?   thank you

I like them too.  We had them growing up.  But my father's family were Swedes.

Oh my!  I guess it just goes to show how different tastes can be. Since we don't live near the ocean, Seafood is a rare luxury. We absolutely love pickled herring! Especially my husband and my GF, I guess it's a Ferman/Russian cultural thing.  But most of the kids like it too, and a jar wouldn't last in the pantry for long 😆
    • awkward-yet-sweet
I think the key to that is just not minding eating the same thing repeatedly. Since we produce a lot of our own food here, we end up eating what is in season at the moment. So, when the yellow squash is ripening, we end up fixing squash 20 different ways. When the strawberries are ready, we eat lots of strawberries. It's kind of a different mindset to eat in season when it has become such a part of American culture but the grocery store has everything we want all the time. Like grapes in December.  My family does even things out a little bit by having a greenhouse so we have some fresh things in the winter, but it's not a 100% fix.

My brothers and I had to eat what was on the plate.  All of it, and nothing else.  Pickiness was not tolerated.  Some of our least favourite were liver and onions, sauerkraut, and especially rollmops (pickled herring).  We finally protested enough to persuade our mother not to serve rollmops, though she kept a jar in the pantry for years afterwards, as a threat if we didn't behave.

I'll go first.  My favorite team is the Yankees.  Loved them since I was a kid.  I was born in NYC so, yeah.  I know everyone loves to hate them, and that's OK.  I just love baseball in general.  It's a game of traditions, strategy, power, grace and skill.   Play Ball!!  ⚾   Carolyn Marie

I guess you do have a good point. It's just hard to try and not have the same meals over and over again.

Hi   I’ll weigh in on being picky about food.  Yes, and I was brought up that way.  We didn’t have to eat everything our parents ate.  They had a number of things they ate that they figured we wouldn’t eat, an acquired taste things or one or the other didn’t like them too.   even as an adult there are many things I won’t eat.  In my defense, there are different things my wife won’t eat.   the weird thing is that after being in E, my tastes have changed.  Sweet, sour, salty or bland, if I eat or drink too much of any one thing and I have to counter act it.   Willow
