My mother died from Breast cancer and cancer runs through my family, could that be another reason to get top surgery at my age? (16 y/o) I have had doctors tell me that girls my age do it (I have not told my doctor that I am a trans male. But would that be a valid reason to get top surgery (Besides wanting them off for transition).

If i were you, I would go with top surgery. I personally would get it if I were in your position

That's what I am planning, maybe this can be another thing to help persuade my parents into letting me get top surgery.

Well yes but maybe not at 16.  I'm not doctor but I think the chance of breast cancer while in your teens is unknown if not rare.  Now once you are "of majority" and on your own this may be something you can explore.  To have it done as a preventative measure will require you showing there is a good chance of cancer in your family and convincing an insurance company to pay for it.  Remember that many of the women who have made this a thing by posting about it on line are wealthy enough to self fund.

Jani makes a good point on how you're going to convince a doctor to do it. Maybe if there is an informed consent surgeon after you're 18 you could swing it....but elective mastectomies without a diagnosis won't be paid for by insurance. You'd have an easier time finding an insurance that pays for gender dysphoria surgeries and getting them removed for the real reason (and paid for). Reducing your chance at cancer later would just be a bonus.

I am actually at a high risk for breast cancer, my mother passed away from breast cancer and my grandma and grandpa had cancer as well. but I will wait til I am 18
