What's better to minimize eyebrow ridges' appearance: thick or thin eyebrows?

Hi, my name is Pam, I am a veteran or "experienced" MTF since I started HRT more than 10 years ago, changed identity about three years ago, started living as female about four years ago.

 

One issue I could never overcome, for lack of money to pay the hugely expensive surgery, is the eyebrow ridges aka forehead bossing.

 

I have always shaped my eyebrows very, very thin, because I think this is way more feminine than thick. But I see many women with thick eyebrows nowadays. So I guess everything goes.

 

I am considering "permanent makeup" for my eyebrows so I don't need to trim them constantly, which is an activity I don't really enjoy.

 

So, after having uselessly googled whether thin or thick eyebrows are better to minimize the appearance of eyebrow ridges, finding zero answers to my question, I am coming here to see if someone has been luckier than me and has found an answer to this.

 

So please, tell me your opinion, what is better to minimize the appearance of eyebrow ridges, thinner or thicker eyebrows? Please include reasons for your conclusion, and website links if you found any page where they explain the reasons for any choice.

 

Sorry I can't show pictures of myself, I hate my forehead so damn much that I just can't share such horrible thing, I am too embarrassed.

Hi Pam,

 

I don't think the thickness of the eyebrows makes much of a difference when it comes to camouflaging the eyebrow ridge.  You might have better luck minimizing the ridges by using makeup as camouflage.  I don't have overly masculine ridges (thankfully), but they are a characteristic I still try to minimize, and I do it by applying a dark contour right above my brows, which is where my ridges are located.  A dark contour is quite effective at minimizing prominent features.  Use a lighter contour underneath the brows and your forehead above the ridges, then blend the makeup until you can't see the demarcation between the two shades.  I have good luck using this technique to reduce the appearance of my brow ridges.

@Sally Stone has given the suggestion I was going to make, as well as my saying that choice of hairstyle will also distract people from seeing the brow ridges.  I was at a party last night with over 300 Trans People and many of them had brow ridges, and I almost got into trouble in two cases over it, because the most prominent ones were on the Cis female folks there with their Trans partners.  OOPS,!!!

Pam I understand the stress you have over this but Vicky's comment on cis females having the same "issue" is important to consider when thinking about yourself.  We are our own worse critics but as Sally recommended, some makeup skills will go a long way to alleviating your concerns.

When I asked about this some said hair styles too.  Something with bangs.  Not necessarily to cover but to layer the appearance of the entire forehead not just the ridge.  Sounds like the make up in combination could do the trick.

If you can, believe that others really see a you that you do not: that is what we mean.  Go look in my gallery and for a minute imagine me going out is public at all.  I do go out and am just me!!

I have been creeping closer and closer to doing this as time passes.  I still have what I would consider and unisex brow shape but leaning towards feminine.  However I too have noticed a lot of celebs with thicker shaped eye brows and they are beautiful women and this does not detract from their beauty.  IMO

I'm also the self victim of being my own worse critic which I am trying to get passed. Though it is difficult looking so male still and compounded by having to present male in public still.
