My GCS has been rescheduled

Amanda Amethyst

The hospital that my GCS was supposed to be in called the doctor's office yesterday and said that they are no longer allowing that sort of operation to be done there.  I was waiting on my appointment to see the doctor when they did so.

The doctor's office has rescheduled me for April 10th at a different hospital.

So this trip to Houston that I just got back from was not necessary.   I went ahead and had my appointment with the doctor while I was there,  but that could have been done when I go back in April.

I have been on an emotional roller coaster from mad to sad and back to mad.

I'm sorry to read this Amanda.  <hugs>  I hope the reschedule goes well and there are no more issues.

Omg talk about messing with your mojo.  I’m sorry this happened too.  It must of made your heart drop right out to hear that news.  I’m glad they rescheduled it for you.  April isn’t super far off.  It’s what I’m telling myself for my Orchi also scheduled in April so agree with me.  Lol

Keep the faith and it will be here soon.
Good Luck.

That's super frustrating! I'm so sorry you're having to go through that :( I hope that is not a trend for hospitals!

I hope your trip to Houston was still fun in some ways.

Amanda I'm sorry to read of your disappointment and sorry that youve had to be rescheduled. Perhaps it's just as well if that hospital isn't going to be welcoming, you certainly wouldn't want to spend any time there. Or perhaps it's a technical issue, who knows? At any rate, you'll get there!

How rude.

However I know that hospitals have licensing requirements that govern what sort of procedures can be done under their care. For example, a local hospital kept my father in law for a week before they admitted they couldn't perform the heart surgery they said he needed.

Personally, I had mine done at a teaching hospital. I sort of assumed that was the norm from my limited experience (the local guy works out of U of M).

Hopefully your surgeon will get this straightened out and find another place to practice. Deep breath. Everything is moving along. This is just a minor bump in the road. Best to have a bump in the road now. You'll appreciate bumpy roads less after your surgery. Trust me on this one.

Hugs!

Well, from my totally non-representative sample of two. I get HRT from UofM. They have a full gender transition team including one surgeon who does GCS. Unfortunately, my alopecia had me shopping for more options.

Methodist Hospital in Philly is also a teaching hospital. Part of my waiver was signing away rights to whatever tissue Doctor Rumer decided she didn't need to keep.

Hugs!

It was a Catholic affiliated Hospital.  But they are also under a larger medical group which has a non-discrimination policy which includes gender identity.  So I have reported what happened to that larger group what happened and they are looking into it.

If I am not satisfied with the resolution, I will probably contact the ACLU and see what they say.

The hospital that my GCS was rescheduled to has announced that they are cancelling all non-urgent surgeries.  I haven't talked to my surgeon yet, but I am certain that this includes my GCS.

I know that they need to reserve supplies and space for possible patients with COVID-19.  I don't blame them at all.

It is just super irritating that if the first hospital hadn't cancelled my GCS, I would have had it before the disease got so bad in the US.

My commencement of HRT got postponed because a doctor retired, now I'm told that "it may be a while" since the VA is pushing appointments out 90+ days.

Sorry for your issues with this. It certainly comes at a difficult time for the healthcare system. Hopefully there will be light at the end of the tunnel.

I have shared my doses and levels a lot and no one has said anything. Yeah I put alarms on my phone to make sure I don't miss a dose. I tend to forget a lot of stuff on what needs to be done. I have been also using the calendar on my phone a lot. I missed an appointment because I didn't put it in my calendar.

Feeling better than I did yesterday

It's official. My doctor wants me retested after the last results (too high). The test, that she scheduled, was likely too close to the dose. She did tell me to keep the increased dose instead of reverting to my old one, probably because my "too high" wasn't that high. I don't know what the forum's stance is on results, knowing full well the rules against sharing dosage, so I'll keep those under wraps until I know if it's OK to share those. Less to say, it was over the range she feels comfortable with by about 50%, but taken a day earlier than the midpoint value she was expecting. Grains of salt everywhere!   Of course I messed everything up too, missing my dose for the first time, yesterday. I had to re-reschedule the lab I setup yesterday to Monday from Saturday after taking my shot this morning to avoid the same issue with the testing. I woke up and thought, "Thursday, what do I have to do for work today? OH -crap-, IT'S THURSDAY! I missed my shot yesterday!"   Anyhoo. Question for the ladies: does anyone else get a mild zen-like high after their shots/doses? My brain feels lighter and I'm happier and I feel a lot more girlie this morning. 💃

I'm into my fourth month of HRT and just titrated up in dosage after my last checkup. This is my life. 🤭   I have yet to grow out of my B cup bras, but I have noticed more fullness, having started with gynecomastia. I am seeing less gapping in bras with my right breast, which has always been smaller than my left. My areolae are slightly pronounced/projected now, that are larger but not vastly greater in circumference, and I have noticed little to no nipple changes beyond their painful sensitivity.

-It's not a sprint it's an endurance.  -It won't happen overnight. -Seek a gender therapist. -You might lose a lot of support but hang in there. If they truly loved and cared about you they would stay. -Retail therapy helps and plus it builds your wardrobe and shoes. -Makeup is an artwork. It takes lots of practice to do it right and watch YouTube videos on how to put it on or someone who is knowledgeable. -You are going to have roller coaster emotions so don't rush anything.

You have grown more breast tissue than most some only get one size and that is it. I went from 42C to 42DD but I'm also taking supplements. It's risky to take the supplements but to me it's worth the risk.

I'd echo some of the advice in Imma Asher's letter in the book To My Trans Sisters:   Take your time.  See yourself. Be proud.  Be strong. Indulge in the transformation.  Read more.  Put down the brow pencil.  Live.  And be happy.

I hope that there is some kind of justice. It's very sad and it doesn't even mention the family and I could only imagine how they feel.
