Hey all! New to forums in general, so I hope I’m doing this right ?

My name is Reuben! I am 19 years old, aro/ace, and FtM! Been identifying as male at school and at home for just over a year now, and am finally at peace with my identity. I’ve always been more of a ‘tomboy’ type, my favourite childhood activity being digging for bugs in the dirt, or running around in the forest in shorts patterned with fire and dragons only to come home with nettle rashes and scratches all over my legs. Ah, the good old days.

I am an artist currently working on a Fine Arts diploma. I enjoy a variety of art mediums, and primarily create characters and strange creatures (backgrounds? What are those?). Most art communities, both online and in real life, I have found to be very welcoming and inclusive spaces, and came to discover myself through the art and stories of the people I’ve met over the years. Funny enough, I first realized I was trans after jokingly drawing myself as a boy, and ended up saying “wow thats me” when it was done.  After years of figuring myself out in the privacy of my own mind, here I am.

I have plans to move forwards with my transition. I am in the process of finding a psychologist who specializes in care for trans patients, and hope to eventually begin hrt. I have ventured this forum as a guest for a few months now, and have decided to join with hope that I may turn here if I am in need of guidance or support. (I’m also a huge introvert and am not the best with communication, so I apologize in advance for my awkwardness. Perhaps joining a forum will help me become better at talking to people as well!)

Hi Reuben, welcome to the forum.

Yes you are doing well; Thank you for your introduction! As you may have realised, there are a huge variety of people here. Some even dabble in art, such as myself, whereas others are somewhat more professional. That aside, there is a huge wealth of collected experiences and very friendly people who will not hesitate to help as they can, should you require it. Please don't hesitate to read, post and join in as you feel. We welcome your input.

Welcome Reuben to our family. I don’t have to tell you how wonderful this forum can be for us as you said you have lurked for a while.  I did the same thing when trying to understand myself.
I found I am not alone at all and further found a ton of acceptance, love and support from many others here.
I am glad you found us and joined.

Yeah, it turns out a lot of us are creatives or have creative hobbies. Probably a side-effect of playing a LOT of "what if" before we come out.

Welcome Reuben! Happy to meet you!

Hugs!

Welcome Reuben.  I have periods of my life when painting is very important to me.  I also find the artist community to be largely supportive.  Much of my work is actually involved with my trans identity.

Enjoy your time here.

Hugs,

Charlize

Hello Reubens and welcome to the forums!

There are several artists here, myself among them.

This is a great place. I'm very glad you're here!

That should have said "Reuben" but my autocorrect already is thinking "famous artists" so what the heck!

This topic reminds me of the lyrics to the Beatles song, "A Little Help From My Friends."   "What do you see when you turn out the lights?"   "I can't tell you but I know it's mine."   Carolyn Marie

@Ivy have you read the actual document?   Has anyone else out there read it?
    • Abigail Genevieve
I am reading the Project 2025 document https://www.project2025.org/policy/   This will take some time.  I read the forward and I want to read it again later.   I read some criticism of it outside here and I will be looking for it in the light of what has been posted here and there.  Some of the criticism is bosh.   @MaeBe have you read the actual document?

      *older, not holder, oops :P
    • Abigail Genevieve
      No problem!

Old topic, but I gotta say my favorites are: "Stop hitting on minors" (doesn't work if you're holder tho) and "Sure as [squid] not you"

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie

I am in too good a mood to earn my certificate today. I am sure something will happen that will put me on the path to earning it.

It's likely most cis-women consider a fitting unnecessary "because they know what  they wear" and get used to the wrong size.  The instructions for what your size is are simple and why go to any further effort?  You measure your bandsize and you measure your max and subtract the two to get the needed info for the cup size.  Then you buy the same size for years until it hurts or something.

Congratulations Lorelei! Yes, it is a powerful feeling to have the documents that say "you are you".

Here is space for discussion on this, since the topic is large and could derail another thread SOMEBODY started.   Could some dear, sweet, kind Moderator pull everything related to this from the Voting for Trump thread and put it here?  I don't know if you can do that; I am the new girl on the block after all (blinks sweetly).

      I think I lost a friend :(

I will have arrived when I have a b*tch certificate of my own.  I think someone called me one once.

That’s fantastic Lorelei. I’m so happy for you.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
