Suggestion: Dark Mode?

Pallas

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone :)

I tend to use the 'dark mode'  option on any site I am on (YouTube, other fora, Discord, Twitter, etc.).
I don't know if I cannot find it, or if it is simply not an option at this time.
If it is the latter, may I please suggest to introduce a dark mode option? ^^   It would be a lot easier on the eyes for me (dark mode also helps with my dyslexia) and for other people.

Thank you for reading!

I am always in dark mode, dark lights sting my soul. In layman's terms, I agree.

ooo, I would love to have a dark mode too. The dark mode is easier for me to read and pay attention to. So if it was a poll i would definetely vote for dark mode.

I agree with the dark mode idea. I have sensitive eyes, and sites blasting white light at me become hard to look at after a while.

Maybe @Petra Jane  can give some answers on this one she is one of our computer Gurus here.  Or we can get @Dev to show up on it.

There currently is not a Dark Theme enabled on the forums, only the default Transpulse green one.

Night mode Themes are available from Invision mod forums, perhaps @Dev would consider adding the option at some point?

It's not something I was aware was easily possible. Mostly I tend to reduce the brightness afterdark as I switch between many sites and apps so a blanket cover works reasonably with me. I do see that it would be a good addition though.

I use it on my phone as well.  Reducing the brightness helps but for us older gals/guys with failing eyes and the tiny type on our phones it can be a struggle to read.  Lol

I'd like to toss my two-cent hat in the ring!  I am pretty light-sensitive, and use dark mode for every app that allows it.  If TransPulse had a dark mode setting, I would switch to it at once.

With a bit of tweaking in Windows 10, I have found that you can set it to Night LIght from the Notifications button at the right edge of the tool bar.  Mine works best using the Invision Default instead of the Trans Pulse green default. That may be a makeshift until we can get our big computer guru @Devworking on it.

Thanks for that Vicky. It's easy to adjust the brightness on my laptop but I'll try that as well.

If you use Chrome, you can add extensions that support dark mode for all, or most, sites. I just downloaded a new one that works with this site when it cleared everything on me.

Just search 'YouTube Dark' and the one that I find works is 'Dark Night Mode'.

I personally prefer Firefox, and there is an add-on I like to use sometimes called Stylish.  Takes some knowledge of CSS, though.

I recently switched to ‘Dark Mode’ on my iOS for my new-ish iPad. I waited until enough apps had support and now almost all do except that Safari doesn’t render this website  (and many others) in a ‘Dark Mode‘ theme like Firefox does.

Our Transpulse Forum looks wonderful in Firefox’s built-in version of ‘Dark Mode’ called ‘Night Mode‘ in Settings (see pic). If you have a iOS mobile device you might give it a spin.

Whats with Dark Mode?  It seems like a UI trend or fad.    I can see in some situations it makes for a better experience.  But does it really have to show up in everything with a UI?

I can’t tell you whether it’s a fad but it is a current trend. For me, it makes using my iPad much easier. My eyes would become tired and blurry after 30 mins on this device. I started using Night Shift which was added to Apple’s iOS a few years ago. That helped a bit by reducing the blue light from the screens light spectrum that tires the user’s eyes. But now with Dark Mode/Night Mode, I haven’t had this issue being on my iPad and it seems to keep the battery from draining as fast too.

Ohh Nice share @Susan R

Sadly on my browser (Firefox) I cant seem to find a dark mode for the page content. It Blacks out the tool bars a treat but the actual page. Nope. That does look pretty good judging by your screenshot.

I find dark mode much easier on the eye on other devises.
