Reaching out. Digestive issues.

Maid In Bedlam

I would like to ask a question that isn't Trans related.

OH MY GOD THERE SHE GOES

You may think this but I'm reaching out here.

Does anyone or has anyone ever suffered from

From a gluten or wheat-related digestive problem.

Yes, I know none of you are doctors or health professionals in this field but I'm asking.

I'm quite healthy for my age. I eat proper food and rarely have take away food or processed rubbish.  But every so often I get a bad bout of gas Stomach problems, bloating, and abdominal pain on occasion diarrhoea. As for the burping. Don't even go there.

I've been tested for wheat and dairy allergies but nothing come back as positive. I have also had scans and such like and they can never find anything strange going on. No I dont have any nasty things going on like Blood in poop or unexplained weight loss etc etc.  Therefore I just wondered if anyone else as had an experience like this?

At the moment I'm just testing theories of what it could be that is giving my stomach a hard time.

The only connection is wholegrain bread at the moment. But has anyone else found a strange intolerance that they have had to cut out of there diet?

Its been going on for about a year now and on the whole, I'm pretty fed up with it. to the point where I'm going to maybe look into the fod-map diet. Which seems really ugh.

For a while i considered it was hormone related as in an imbalance. But it cant be as ive been on those for 5+ years and this only started a year ago so i rulled it out. The only other option regarding hormones is as we know your body changes and maybe the estrogen has kicked some intolererence into life i never had before.

Picking your brains ladies and gents. can you give some guidence to a poor suffering girl here?

I cannot directly help, I don't think, as I don't suffer from such things as far as I know, but have noticed that certain foods affect me strongly. For instance I virtually never suffer from constipation as I know that fresh oranges, or especially grapes sort things out quickly. I have thought that the oils in oranges or perhaps the microbacteria on grape skins do this as I, almost never, wash fruit. I often eat raw onions as well. I have found these can be harsh on the stomach if eaten with very little other food.

My partner has some of the very symptoms you are describing, including often burping continuously for some considerable time. She is trying a lactose free diet at the moment but the doctors never really got to the bottom of it. We are completely different and live different lifestyles (I am far more active and eat almost anything), so I don't really understand her problems to know how they could be sorted.

Don't forget that bodies change over time so five years can make a difference.

Our bodies do change over time, whether or not we change our medicinal routines.  I know I have experienced periods of "upset stomach" with lots of gas build up over the recent years.  I first took notice when I wasn't able to drink as much coffee as I liked.  It was not related to any medical cause as nothing had changed, but I had gotten older.  My weight and general health has remained constant throughout the years.  But I've seen my tastes change and not always for the better.  Tracy is right.

Recently a new med has caused some distinct changes that I've discussed with my physician.   Seems it is par for the course.  If tests don't show any indications then I would just keep an eye on things and go on the best you can.

  • I have no idea what I'm talking about, here are some anecdotes and what I think may be the cause.
  • I grew up poor, the kind where the state of food isn't that big of a deal.
  • I eat mostly unprocessed foods, even to the point where I don't process (cook) it. Turns out lots (most?) of grains and flours have bacteria. This is why you shouldn't eat raw flour or dough! Some other fruits and veggies have mild toxins that need to be cooked out (looking at you, raw/dry kidney beans). So: Make sure your food is properly cooked!

  • Sometimes I over-eat the same kinds of foods. Too much beans (I love beans, but holy fiber Batman @___@), garlic/onions (these make a lot of people gassy, raw onions are fine for me, though), too much milk, but my most frequent issue: too much in carbs-rich food (rice, beans, oats, bread, pasta, etc). When I overdo it, it gets rough.

  • I thought I was having issues with bread, so I stopped for a week, and life got better. I couldn't hold out for long, so I ate a few slices and I was fine. Turns out that eating half a loaf a day isn't a great idea anymore?

I have been lactose free by choice for a few years now. You know human beings are the only species to drink milk after childhood.

I dont actually regret it. Sometimes it hard to get lactose free milk when your getting something in a resturant or cafe or whatever but at home the only time i would have it is in Chocolate or such like.

I was reading somewhere. How you can react to Wholemeal bread but me fine with white bread as white bread is made from milled wheat. The wheat grain contains an inner portion called germ and the outer portion called bran.

When the bran is removed you only have the germ left which makes white bread. When they leave the bran on it makes brown bread. So you can have an allergy to brown bread but not white.

I've done reading on this hense I have cut out all bread for a while to see if it clears up. If it does then I'm going to slowly reintroduce white bread back and see if it occurs again. I was trying to be healthy and eat brown only but if my digestive system can't take it then. So be it. No big loss.

I just wanna get myself all up to scratch again. As i find it effects my overall fitness level. I will assume because my stomach cannot work at full capacity. It stands to reason im only getting half the nutition i should be.

Who knows i ay have had the allergy my whole life but because i only started eating brown bread recently in larger quantitys its caused the reaction.

Still living in hope that its going to get better.  Ive started a food diary. Just to see if i can pin point anything.

I have read some of it, mostly in areas specifically targeted at the LGBTQ+ peoples.   You also have to take into account what and who is behind the words, not just the words themselves. Together that creates context, right? Let's take some examples, under the Department of Health & Human Services section:   "Radical actors inside and outside government are promoting harmful identity politics that replaces biological sex with subjective notions of “gender identity” and bases a person’s worth on his or her race, sex, or other identities. This destructive dogma, under the guise of “equity,” threatens American’s fundamental liberties as well as the health and well-being of children and adults alike."   or   "Families comprised of a married mother, father, and their children are the foundation of a well-ordered nation and healthy society. Unfortunately, family policies and programs under President Biden’s HHS are fraught with agenda items focusing on “LGBTQ+ equity,” subsidizing single-motherhood, disincentivizing work, and penalizing marriage. These policies should be repealed and replaced by policies that support the formation of stable, married, nuclear families."   From a wording perspective, who doesn't want to protect the health and well-being of Americans or think that families aren't good for America? But let's take a look at the author, Roger Severino. He's well-quoted to be against LGBTQ+ anything, has standard christian nationalist views, supports conversion therapy, etc.   So when he uses words like "threatens the health and well-being of children and adults alike" it's not about actual health, it's about enforcing cis-gendered ideology because he (and the rest of the Heritage Foundation) believe LGBTQ+ people and communities are harmful. Or when he invokes the family through the lens of, let's just say dog whistles including the "penalization of marriage" (how and where?!), he idealizes families involving marriage of a "biological male to a biological female" and associates LGBTQ+ family equity as something unhealthy.   Who are the radical actors? Who is telling people to be trans, gay, or queer in general? No one. The idea that there can be any sort of equity between LGBTQ+ people and "normal" cis people is abhorrent to the author, so the loaded language of radical/destructive/guise/threaten are used. Families that he believes are "good" are stable/well-ordered/healthy, specifically married/nuclear ones.   Start looking into intersectionality of oppression of non-privileged groups and how that affects the concept of the family and you will understand that these platitudes are thinly veiled wrappers for christian nationalist ideology.   What's wrong with equity for queer families, to allow them full rights as parents, who are bringing up smart and able children? Or single mothers who are working three jobs to get food on plates?

Well yesterday didn't work like I wanted to. I met a guy and started talking and he was wanting to be in a relationship. I asked my kids on how they thought of me dating a man and they said gross and said no. I guess it's time to look for women. I think that is going to be harder. Oh well I guess.

This topic reminds me of the lyrics to the Beatles song, "A Little Help From My Friends."   "What do you see when you turn out the lights?"   "I can't tell you but I know it's mine."   Carolyn Marie

@Ivy have you read the actual document?   Has anyone else out there read it?
    • Abigail Genevieve
I am reading the Project 2025 document https://www.project2025.org/policy/   This will take some time.  I read the forward and I want to read it again later.   I read some criticism of it outside here and I will be looking for it in the light of what has been posted here and there.  Some of the criticism is bosh.   @MaeBe have you read the actual document?

      *older, not holder, oops :P

      No problem!

Old topic, but I gotta say my favorites are: "Stop hitting on minors" (doesn't work if you're holder tho) and "Sure as [squid] not you"
    • Carolyn Marie
Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie

I am in too good a mood to earn my certificate today. I am sure something will happen that will put me on the path to earning it.

It's likely most cis-women consider a fitting unnecessary "because they know what  they wear" and get used to the wrong size.  The instructions for what your size is are simple and why go to any further effort?  You measure your bandsize and you measure your max and subtract the two to get the needed info for the cup size.  Then you buy the same size for years until it hurts or something.

Congratulations Lorelei! Yes, it is a powerful feeling to have the documents that say "you are you".
