purse pack-a-punch!

Recommended Posts

The Viv Element

I got a new purse like 2 mouths ago right before the shutdowns happened so i never really had a reason to pack my purse but now i do since the city is easing up on some restrictions, I can't think of what to put in it, right now i only have mini sunblock, deodorant & my batteries for my cochlear implant. But i wanted to know if there was any basic needs a purse should have? such as protection, or anything that might help me one day. I'm thinking of buying a small canister of mace if they're legal in my city, but that's why i'm here; I wanted to know what everyone packs in their purse!

Love this idea of changing what these items really are. I've been mugged two times and learned after the first one to always have visible cash to hand over, so I don't loose my credit cards, and Identification. The first time was at a truck stop, the second time was at a 7eleven fuel pump. My 360° awareness has greatly improved.

Best wishes, stay positive and safe.

I'm hungry-vampire pale. Makeup makes me look like a demented mime. 😋

Only foundation I need is white-out.

I think I can kill people with the amount of stuff I carry in my purse, probably the only thing me and my mom have in common. Only short is I don't wear make-up, stuff is terrible for your skin.

I love the responses, I have a HUGE thing where i always need to be prepared otherwise i'll feel empty lol. I could be naked with a fully packed purse & still be comfortable (not that i'm a nudist or anything lol 😳).

Thank you all for the help!! my mind was drawing blanks anytime i tried to think. I'm definitely going to add some of my personality to this purse too, like some tags, buttons and whatever else. all of you will be on my mind whenever i decorate now hehe.

I wish you all a good day/night ❤️ i'm always a message away if anyone needs to talk xo.

Sorry .. late to the party.  I've never been "Out" in public yet, but weird thing is one of my biggest worries is "transitioning" from pockets to a purse.  Lots of great ideas everybody!

That's scary Mindy.  Living in America .. 🎶  that's another worry about carrying a purse for me

I am not currently using a purse, hopefully someday! But one thing I will have in it is dental floss. I hate it when I eat a big salad and later I look in the mirror only to see little pieces of spinach in between my teeth!

Oh_Kay,

I'm a fan of the plastic toothpicks with floss at the end. Easy to store, and use with one hand, then discard in an appropriate container.

One arm >HUGS< accepted here.

This is obviously a translation thing, for me the purse is where you keep your store loyalty cards, cash and coins. Handbag/clutch is the bag you keep that in. I was starting to wonder about the size of purses people carried about!  I haven't been out more than a couple of times, but I took: wipes/tissues, lip gloss, eyelash glue, phone, coin purse, small perfume bottle, tights (though I ended up wearing jeans I had intended to wear a skirt and a spare pair in case of laddering made sense) and keys and I always have a keyring photo of my kids that goes everywhere with me. 🙂

Mine's actually more of a messenger bag. I could be carrying so much more and it has pockets for everything!

Sadly I may have the last one in the universe. It's hard for a geek girl to find styles that suit her.

My AWESOME Messenger Bag-style purse

Hugs!

I wish you didn't feel the need to carry 17 rounds of any heat. 😩 But then again I carry rocks in my bag, sometimes really big rocks.

Yes, different cultures, divided by a common language!  As an immigrant myself, I remember having to learn American vocabulary.  (Canadian vocabulary tends to be American, but our spelling tends to be British.)  You are right, we are talking about handbags. :)

Its more of a right to do so then a need.

Without saying to much I don't need a gun to protect myself with the training I've had in the military   I just prefer to.

Just having the laser grip dot illuminated on someone is a huge deterrent trust me.

I would expect it to be, since we are all only moral for the time being. As you can tell I don't like firearms, it's bad enough average folk have fists and have little knowledge of their power. May it never leave your side, or forever be sealed away till at the range where you can keep up practice.

This morning DD3 took me out for coffee, a jewelry store to get me a present for Father’s Day and mostly to just hang out. She gave me a Father’s Day Card and apologized because she couldn’t find a card appropriate for a trans paternal parent. It seems to me that Hallmark and the rest of the card makers are missing an opportunity. Maybe a card address to “Happy Mother’s Day to my Trans-parent” or “Happy Father’s Day to my maternal parent”. Those of you with children, how do your children celebrate Mother’s and Father’s Days?

Thank you, Kathy.  I agree.  ☺️  Wish I could retitle this to "Who I model myself after".  All of us gals (including cis women) look to cis women for our behavioral cues, dressing, makeup, etc.  I have a more realistic model now that I'm older and more experienced.
    • KathyLauren
That's a really good point, Tori!  Don't compare yourself to anyone else, because you are incomparable.    It's not about being someone else, it's about being yourself.

Hey there Timber Wolf - Thank you for the warm welcome. Z.
    • Zoey4Trix
Hi Mx.Drago - thanks for the kind words. I'm looking forward to learning from everyone here.  Z.
    • Tori M
I've got be careful about who I compare myself to.  I was learning this once but I guess I slipped back.  When I came out the first time, I felt and acted like a nervous crossdresser in public and like some crossdressers, I was comparing myself to the unrealistic "model woman".  I was just learning not to do that when I fell back into the closet.  Now I need to learn it again, but thankfully, I seem to have jumped ahead since last time.  I don't compare myself to the pretty young girls any more.  I guess I had my "maiden" voyage, and now I'm seeing myself far more realistically.   For the past week I've been shopping online trying to update/rebuild my meager wardrobe and of course have been seeing thousands of images of models.  I realized when I looked in the mirror this morning that those images had burned an impression in my head and I didn't look as good as I thought I did last week.  But I know better now.  I shook it off, applied a touch of mascara and lip gloss and went to town.  Seeing the average, ordinary people of this small, country town got me back in perspective.  When I'm in the right mindset, I can be a confident woman in public.  Being realistic is key.
    • Tori M
I went out birding this morning for the first time in a while.  I put on a touch of mascara and tinted lip balm because if I ran into any other women out birding I wanted them to see me as one of them.  Left my hair a little messy and just wore jeans and t-shirt so non-threatening to any gals, non-attractive to any guys.  This is the andro-fem thing I'm doing right now.  I'm gaining confidence again.  I'm taking this reawakening v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y and it's feeling really good so far. I got to see some gorgeous Orioles!  Not easy to find here, I've been looking for 2-3 years.  Also watched a pair of Kingbirds working on their nest.

For California, where you need to go for the Birth Certificate, go to Transgender Law Center https://transgenderlawcenter.org/ or go directly to the Vital Records Division of the CA. State Department of Health.https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CHSI/pages/vital-records.aspx   CA will honor a Name Change order from Mississippi for changing the Birth Certificate.

There is no substitute for checking the regulations in all the relevant jurisdictions (Mississippi and California in this case).  However, usually, your state of residence handles name changes, and your birth state handles birth certificates.    Gender is most often defined by your birth certificate (so handled your birth state), but there are exceptions.  Here in Nova Scotia, for example, there is provision to override the gender on one's birth certificate if you cannot get your birth certificate changed.  I benefited from that regulation (I lobbied to get it passed in the first place) because I could not get my birth certificate changed.  So right now, I am shown as male on my birth certificate, but legally female here.   So, definitely, check the regulations in both places.

Susan, Glad you liked it.  I'm a big progressive rock fan and I love Porcupine Tree, kind of saddened when they broke up.  But then Steven Wilson started doing solo projects which got me all fired up again.  He really is talented.  Can't wait for his next release.

@Katharina Thank you for the kind advice and words of encouragement. I am fascinated and am excited to see how long I could actually get it. Never remembered anybody in my family ever growing it out to full fuzz god mode, but will definitely be willing to try different things. LOL😆
