@ShawnaLeigh So happy it went well.  Hopefully the pain isn't too bad once it kicks in, you've already had to live with some pretty incredible pain for awhile because of that lump.  Get lots of rest and follow the surgeon's direction.  Hugs!

Great to hear  that everything went well with the  surgery. Sister. I bet once the meds start wearing off. The pain will be back.

Lots of love,  girl.

Ok I’m home. Everything went very smoothly and I have almost no pain.  I feel great knowing that lump and those two little evil doers are out for good.
Im sure this evening the pain will visit me and move in like a unwanted relative that doesn’t know when to leave.
Thank you all for your support!❤️❤️❤️

I'm glad you're back safe sweetie... but did you have a good lunch? ?

Hugs!

So glad you're safely done!

Hopefully the biopsy comes back great.

Yes. The lunch. Opioids, anesthesia and food don't play together well.

Glad you're settled in. Take your pain meds ahead of the pain as prescribed, don't wait for the pain to arrive because then you're behind the curve.

Get well soon!

Update,

When they tell you to sit down and not do to much you should listen.

I did not.  Sigh.

I felt very little pain and it was quite a thankful thing.  I had anticipated feeling a "kicked in the pluts" feeling for days but I have not felt anything down in the scrotum area.  Even the incision is not bothering me.

The nerve bundles that were severed and retracted upwards is where the pain is which on me is located slight above the level of my remaining male genitalia.  Or as my friend said my long urethrae as it is not a functional penis anymore.  LOL

Now swelling and bruising has taken over and it is massive today.

Yesterday feeling great I did a few things.  Nothing heavy but I was on my feet way to much and the warning was that gravity is not my friend for a few days.  Well I agree with this today.

The bruising is incredible actually and it makes me wonder just what they used to do this surgery..

It appears like they used sledgehammers, jackhammers and maybe a ice cream scooper for all I know.

My bruising is from down quite low by the anus, the entire scrotum,  and all the way up and around the penis both sides and on the pubic area above the penis.  Very dark purple too and very very tender.

So I am worshipping an ice pack constantly now.  Not freezing myself out but moving it around the entire area.

Hope this helps others of they are looking to do this.

Listen to your doctors even if you feel amazing.

I'm sorry you have the same kind of bruising i had.  Like you i thought i could ignore orders and start moving too soon.  Rest, rest, rest and then rest.  The swelling will leave faster than the bruising.  I was on several blood thinners so mine was a virtual rainbow but soon it faded and those nerves begin to settle down.  Odd how they seem to ache in loss but that eases as well and will disappear.

Hugs,

Charlize

NOTICE: We're signing up volunteers to go to Shawna's house in person, or by video link, to monitor her every move and make sure she stays put with her ice pack and remote control. I've told her that she needs to stay put and catch up on her Jerry Springer episodes! LOL!!!!

Good advice!

That is good advice but I have no room to talk because I always do too much after a surgery and then it comes back to bite me but I have yet to learn.

Once upon a time (he passed last year) I had a friend who got prostrate surgery then went back to working the farm the very next day. He screwed himself and his recovery up very, very badly and very, very permanently. I like to think I've learned a lot from his mistake.

I followed every instruction the surgeon gave me with a healthy spoonful of caution thrown in on top. You really don't want to heal badly if you can avoid it. Scar tissue in your undercarriage can be a complication if you decide to pursue GCS somewhere down the line.

Sounds familiar, met a fellow who had prostate surgery to remove some cancer, he's became incontenant and is stuck having to wear attends for the rest of his life. The prostate can't be fully removed as it sits right next to the bladder and the urethra runs right through the middle of it.

CONGRATULATIONS! Once all of the swelling goes down, you will truly love it!

Rest rest and more rest! Limit walking and no lifting for sure.

The frozen peas were my friend, and so was the supporter for sure. I also wore yoga shorts too, when i felt the gravity of the situation. I  didnt like standing up too much either, the getting up part was tricky sometimes.

Do not rush yourself either, as you kinda already know.

Update Two.

*The swelling seems to of subsided almost completely but the bruising is a horror show still.  I've never had bruising in my life as I basically needed to be hit by a train to get any at all.

This looks terrible and to the point I get squeamish over it.  I still wonder just how they preformed this surgery, but then again, I may not truly want to know looking at these bruises.

*I had to take some photos and send them to "my doctor" and she evaluated them remotely and said it all looks normal to her.  She gave me further instruction on how to care for myself in the next few days to lesson the swelling and bruising.  Basically don't do anything and ice it.  Take over the counter pain meds as prescribed.

*Pain?  None at all today.  So I am not taking any of the pain meds prescribed but I have taken Tylenol to reduce swelling should it reoccur.   I get a tad queasy at times from moving around but over all I am not having pain.  I'm able to walk normally and it was suggested I do so to avoid clots and stiffness in my limbs.  Still no lifting but I was able to do minor chores like dishes and cooking so I am not totally useless still.

Ive stopped using my ice pack as the temporary one they gave me started to leak so I used a zip lock bag and that leaked too.  So I was mad and decided I'm done with that.  LOL

*I am able to close my legs together and sleep normally on my sides so I am sleeping much better now.  I still can not cross them like before but that's not a priority as of yet.

*I had my first big bowl movement this morning and I was nervous as the doctors say to not push very hard until the incision is healed over.  Which I am not thinking it is completely at this point.  It took me a while trying to "just let it happen" on its own.  LOL

This is no JackieC graphic posting but I hope it helps.

Hey! ?

So yeah, that area is really, really rich in blood flow. it's going to bruise.

I'm glad you're feeling better sweetie. Hang in there, you'll be healed before you know it. The same blood-vessel rich environment that causes the bruising aids healing so long as you remember to eat right. Bodies need fuel after all.

Take care of yourself! Hugs!

Regarding the bowel movements, prunes are your friend.  Prune juice if you need some “Drano”, or just prunes themselves for ongoing maintenance.

Yea I've not done well with prunes. They don't seem to agree with me and do not stay inside me longer enough to make it to the bowls.  LOL

I was told to take laxatives to get things moving but they are like lightning storms inside me.  Cramps hit hard a fast and then its a mad dash when its the least likely time for me to "make it".

I know there are others products but a healthy diet seems to work best for me.  My diet is very carefully planned and measured after Bariactric surgery last summer.  If I go very low fat I have bowl issues.  Its a delicate balance to eat enough of the good fats to keep natural lube inside me. For all my joints and yes for this also.

Sorry. TMI.

Congrats!  I have a post op photo and what a sappy smile when I had "them" removed.  If you take any of the pain meds just be aware they constipate the heck out of you.  Mirilax, Colace and Senakot (All three and cross your fingers)  Oh... And if your like me the pain pills that your supposed to take every 4 hours lasts exactly 3 hours and 45 minutes.  Taking the next round 15 minutes early (I was told) is not a big deal.

Anyway - great news and wish you a speedy recovery!!!

Good Friday Morning    I will be spending a good portion of my day at church today.  I don’t know how any of my family would have been with me.  They all passed before I figured myself out.  I often think my mother and sister may have figured it out before I did but maybe it was just my depression that they saw.  I don’t know and never will.  My grandfather Young unconditionally loved me but he passed when I was 9.   Same with my wife’s parents, both gone before.  We’ve never had the greatest relationship with my wife’s brother but we do see them occasionally.  They words and actions aren’t always in sink when it comes to me.   Sour kraut or boil cabbage were never big even with my parents so that was something we were never expected to eat.  Nor was anything with mustard.  My mother hated mustard and it turns my stomach. My wife tried to sneak it into things early in our marriage but I could always tell.  She stopped after a while.   well I wave to go get ready to go to church.  I have a committee meeting at 10 and then we have a Good Friday Service at noon.   Willow

Good morning everyone,   @KymmieLI hope you're misreading your bosses communications. As you say keep plugging a long. Don't give them signs that you're slow quitting, just to collect unemployment.   I have a few things to do business wise, and will be driving to the St. Louis, MO area for two family gatherings.   Have a great day,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Good morning everyone, TGIFF   It seems like I am the one keeping or shop from being the best. According to the boss. I don't know if my days are numbered or not. But anymore I am waiting for the axe to fall. Time will tell.   I keep plugging a long.   Kymmie

AMUSEMENT The feeling when you encounter something silly, ironic, witty, or absurd, which makes you laugh. You have the urge to be playful and share the joke with others. Similar words: Mirth Amusement is the emotional reaction to humor. This can be something that is intended to be humorous, like when someone tells a good joke or when a friend dresses up in a ridiculous costume. But it can also be something that you find funny that was not intended to be humorous, like when you read a sign with a spelling error that turns it into an ironic pun. For millennia, philosophers and scholars have been attempting to explain what exactly it is that makes something funny. This has led to several different theories. Nowadays, the most widely accepted one is the Incongruity Theory, which states that something is amusing if it violates our standards of how things are supposed to be. For example, Charlie Chaplin-style slapstick is funny because it violates our norms of competence and proper conduct, while Monty Python-style absurdity is funny because it violates reason and logic. However, not every standard or norm violation is necessarily funny. Violations can also evoke confusion, indignation, or shock. An important condition for amusement is that there is a certain psychological distance to the violation. One of the ways to achieve this is captured by the statement ‘comedy is tragedy plus time’. A dreadful mistake today may become a funny story a year from now. But it can also be distant in other ways, for instance, because it happened to someone you do not know, or because it happens in fiction instead of in real life. Amusement also needs a safe and relaxed environment: people who are relaxed and among friends are much more likely to feel amused by something. A violation and sufficient psychological distance are the basic ingredients for amusement, but what any one person find funny will depend on their taste and sense of humor. There are dozens of ‘humor genres’, such as observational comedy, deadpan, toilet humor, and black comedy. Amusement is contagious: in groups, people are more prone to be amused and express their amusement more overtly. People are more likely to share amusement when they are with friends or like-minded people. For these reasons, amusement is often considered a social emotion. It encourages people to engage in social interactions and it promotes social bonding. Many people consider amusement to be good for the body and the soul. By the end of the 20th century, humor and laughter were considered important for mental and physical health, even by psychoneuroimmunology researchers who suggested that emotions influenced immunity. This precipitated the ‘humor and health movement’ among health care providers who believed that humor and laughter help speed recovery, including in patients suffering from cancer1). However, the evidence for health benefits of humor and laughter is less conclusive than commonly believed2. Amusement is a frequent target of regulation: we down-regulate it by shifting our attention to avoid inappropriate laughter, or up-regulate it by focusing on a humorous aspect of a negative situation. Interestingly, amusement that is purposefully up-regulated has been found to have the same beneficial physical and psychological effects as the naturally experienced emotion. Amusement has a few clear expressions that emerge depending on the intensity of the emotion. When people are mildly amused, they tend to smile or chuckle. When amusement intensifies, people laugh out loud and tilt or bob their head. The most extreme bouts of amusement may be accompanied by uncontrollable laughter, tears, and rolling on the floor. Most cultures welcome and endorse amusement. Many people even consider a ‘good sense of humor’ as one of the most desirable characteristics in a partner. At the same time, most cultures have (implicit) rules about what is the right time and place for amusement. For example, displays of amusement may be deemed inappropriate in situations that demand seriousness or solemness, such as at work or during religious rituals.
