Getting the girl things done!

So, it's been 5 weeks since surgery. Recovery is not fun, right, LOL? Does anyone enjoy dilation? Rhetorical question. I have a great physical therapist in the system who's been a big help with tips for dilation. I'm still dealing with soreness, which is to be expected. Who knew the pelvic floor muscles were so involved in every little body movement. I dread it when a sneeze starts coming on, yikes! If you're preparing for surgery, be sure to buy some comfy dresses. You'll want to wear these for comfort as much as possible.

It IS very liberating not dealing with tucking and dysphoria, but getting used to the new 'look' anatomy takes some time as swelling decreases and scaring at the incisions begins to soften in appearance. Honestly, at first, it looked pretty darn scary, LOL! It's looking much better now, and I'm happy with the results. If you opt for a full-depth vaginoplasty as I did, understand that you are getting a REAL vagina, and you have to learn how to take care of it just like a cis female.

Psychologically, as awesome and amazing having surgery can be, and it is, just prepare yourself mentally for some tough recovery weeks dealing with healing, pain, hygiene, dilation, change in routine and follow up doc visits, which for me is a 2-hour drive one way. It's a lengthy and difficult process, but it's life changing and so worth it. I was very comfortable in my own skin as a woman before surgery, but it's an awesome release from any self consciousness about 'hiding' a secret. No more secrets. It's a great feeling.

Lots of love,

Yes recovery is not a walk in the park, as this was a serious surgery.  But you will do well.  Once things settle down a bit more and you get used to the routine, life will get back to a sense of normalcy.

Did I miss it, is that a new avatar photo?

Ha ha, and you definitely don't want that while dilating, LOL!

Ha! @Beverlyive learned over the last 2 months sneezing and coughing are no fun! I agree, I coughed one time while dilating, weird!

LOL! Same. I coughed while dilating the first week, tried my best to suppress it, didn't, and the thing shot out of my canal like a darn missile! ?

  • 1 month later...

Hi again everyone, thought I'd post a 3 month post-op update. Everything has healed nicely and I had my first intercourse last Wednesday. What an empowering female experience.  The initial penetration was uncomfortable, but after that it was quite enjoyable. My friend loves the new vagina, lol! He was very impressed with how it turned out. Yay! I was so nervous about that. Still keeping up my dilation routine. I decided to make it more tolerable, and even fun, by stimulating my clitoris with a small vibrator while dilating. It helps the time pass. Sensation is returning and I experience what I describe as multiple less-intense orgasms. It's definitely a different kind of pleasurable feeling that I'm getting used to. It's actually something my medical team wanted me to do to stimulate those nerve reconnections. I no longer dread my dilation routine ☺️. Can't wait for my next real time, lol! Hope you're all well and having an amazing journey.

I don't understand how if it's wrong to block care for 2 people, it's still okay to block it for everyone else.   But of course I'm not a lawyer/s   "He said minors diagnosed with gender dysphoria "deserve love, support, and medical care rooted in biological reality.""    The thing is, they don't believe we actually exist.

Good morning,   Put on my favourite new Rock band Tee from Torrid and some shorts.  I am just about ready to go spend my day at the stuffy day-centre after I get done soaking my feet.

4 months doesn’t seem such a long time now compared to the times I was previously looking at! 🙂   Many thanks to @Karen Careyfor pointing me towards GenderCare, they have been nothing but helpful and professional, and I wouldn’t be where I am now without them.

Love is a mix of feelings and actions that shows a deep liking for someone or something. Love involves caring for another. Romantic love can lead to things such as dating, marriage and sex, but a person can also feel for friends, such as platonic love, or family. There are also chemical reactions within the brain that can be triggered by the different types of love.

Good morning, everyone!! I'm still battling the Worst Head Cold Ever. Just when I think I've turned the corner, it smacks me back down. If you've got stock in tissues, I'm driving up your profits.   Our early Spring has the grass growing quickly. I need to get out today and cut it before it grows over the house. Today is supposed to be sunny and mid-60s so I'll suck up not feeling great and get the mowers out. At least I'll be in the sunshine for a few hours. The next few days are supposed to be rainy so it's today or wait until the weekend.   Time for a second cup of coffee!!   Stay safe and enjoy this beautiful day we've been given!!

Welcome Mattie.  When i got here i was at a point bin my journey when i was discovering my path.  Writing about it and reading about others helped me greatly as did gender therapy.  Perhaps the hardest thing was finding self acceptance without feeling guilt at simply being me. Enjoy your time here.  You are not alone.   Hugs,   Charlize

I picked a cancellation spot with Dr Lorimer yesterday and had my consultation a month early.  I had been worried about how it would go, but the process of exchanging information was nothing to worry about and I felt quite at ease throughout.  That’s not to say some parts weren’t challenging to articulate clearly, but Dr Lorimer’s manner helped enormously.   The GI/GD diagnosis was such a welcome conclusion to it all, and such an important milestone in my journey.   Now for the Endo consult waiting…
