I'm Siobhan (Pronounced Shivon). I am a female and transitioned around 20 years ago at a somewhat young age (I'm mid 40s now)

I've lurked around here on and off over the years, but never committed to joining until now, obviously.

Hello Siobhan, It’s a pleasure to meet you. I’m glad you finally decided to settle in with us. It’s nice to have members who’ve been successful with their transition as long as yourself. Twenty years is a long time. Experience and insight are always helpful. I’d enjoy learning more about you and your journey thus far if you ever feel comfortable doing so.

Hi Susan - thanks! It's been an interesting ride. Back when I transitioned I would never have guessed that trans*folk would be anywhere near as visible as is now the case, let alone a common subject in the media. There was a lot less info back then and finding therapists, access to HRT, and surgical options was sparse. When I first started feeling the waters with transitioning, it was in the mid 90s. At that time it seemed near impossible, but got a little better closer to 2000 as the internet was really starting to populate and access to information increased, which was an immense help.

I will forever be grateful for and admire those who transitioned earlier than that. The world was so much less accepting prior to the 90s.
