what tips besides doing my voice exercises, walking, make up and clothing and music....to help reduce anxiety and disphoria? My NP at consulr a week ago thursday said when test results and records were complete i could start hrt and it would be this past week. i checked to make sure everything i needed to do was done and that was complete. Friday no call from pharmacy and will check again today. I do have an issue with anticipation and i have all weekend to wait... and it is driving me nuts....waiting is not something to happen

Waiting makes dysphoria rise.  Making progress makes it fall.  So, what progress can you make today?  Paint your nails?  Try a new hair style?  Be "out" in some new situation or location?

I agree With Kathy, find a way to express yourself. taking charge of my progress is a great way to ease the dysphoria for me. It also gives me something to take my mind of whatever is triggering me.

thank you - I just received answer on hold up from my NP - she says my doctor indicates it takes up to 2 weeks to transfer records but they are trying to push tohe transfer - at least now I know - I'll try to keep my mind off it and continue with my lady'fing activities and maybe write another song or three.

I enjoy reading, so when I was beginning transition I bought several books written by transgender women.  Reading their life stories gave me a lot to reflect on and insight into the journey ahead.  Then I would write in my own journals.  That kept my mind busy, helped me find myself and discover the real me.

Great idea - I haven't jounaled since my first wife left and I'd hate to read those now - I was in hell and don't want to remember but I kept them just in case someday I might  want to what those days were like.

Since being drawn to Transpulse and found you tremendous women - you have changed my life in the matter of a month and I have a LOT to write about now that I have found kindred spirits.

I live in disphoria full time and can say doing constructive things you are good at. For example i try as hard as i can at my Job that makes me feel good. I also think feeling bad can be good because when you achieve your goal makes the victory worth it.

I agree with Tori M, and I enjoy reading as well, one book I really enjoyed early in my transition was "She's not there" by Jennifer Boylan. The one story in the book about how this creep followed/stalked her after the gig (she was in a band), really hit home. I journaled my thoughts during the time period of reading this book in an old fashioned spiral bound note book, still have it.

I agree with SydneyBlue by staying busy, such as listening to or playing music is a great distraction from GD, do things, make things, apply yourself. Get your mind out of "Genderland". Consider this, non trans people don't dwell on these topics to the details we do, it can be very taxing. The faster you can get out of genderland the better, just living your life. Identify your own personal triggers, what initiates such thoughts, if Dysphoria rears it's ugly head, think how can you prevent this from happening again ?

Good luck, it's not easy, reminders can be anywhere..

Hugs

Speaking of Jennifer Boylan, a good friend who is a Librarian sent me an email recently saying she had read "Good Boy,  my life in seven dogs" and thoroughly enjoyed it.  Not being a dog person I didn't think I would enjoy it but with her recommendation I'll seek it out.
