I’m feeling a little blue

Good morning everyone, this morning I stood in front of my bathroom mirror in my underwear and saw a woman looking at me with shaving cream on her face. As I removed the growth of whiskers I thought about how messed up our world is. We are in the midst of a pandemic where no one knows when we will get it under control. The political environment is so contentious you have to choose carefully who you say what to. Racism has boiled to the surface with what I hope will be progress in acceptance.

I feel that we are lucky in Michigan to have a Governor and health officials who care about public health. There are those who would disagree with me but as far as I can tell no one has lost any of their constitutional rights.

I’m worried that children and teachers will be needlessly exposed to COVID-19 because of pressure to open face to face learning. My daughter is keeping my granddaughter home from school until it’s safe to return. Right now there is no clear path for parents and the schools to go.

I know this all sounds like a lot of wa, wa, wa oh poor me but there is a bright side. I’ve gained a few pounds so my bra is filled out a little more. (I’m not on HRT) With the stay home stay safe order my beautiful curly hair has grown out and now reaches my shoulders. My wife and I have been alone together with no problems for the last five months. We’ve been out for groceries and a few other things but we have pretty much been staying away from people. We live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan so the number of COVID cases has not been too high, although there has been an uptick in the past few weeks reflecting some summer social gatherings and tourists in the area.

I need to ride my bike more, eat and drink less and support the candidates running for office that I feel can make a difference. We are in a slump as a nation and I pray that we are as low as we are going to go. Please vote this November so your voice is herd. We can make a difference.

Thanks for listening and please stay safe.

All in all it seems like you are in a good place and that is wonderful.

Think about the serenity prayer and that might help.

And guess what - you have a right to feel blue from time to time - it's what normal humans do ?

Hi Shay, thank you for the reply. You are correct in that I am in a good place. I am loved. I am accepted and I’m free to be me. I need to memorize the prayer.

Sandra I hear you!  I'm happy you have had a glimpse of the woman within, yeah!  Yes the world seems to be upside down at this point but have faith that we will return to equilibrium soon enough.

Sandra,

The world can be a tumultuous place sometimes.  It seems that every generation has some kind of crisis that causes us to think the sky is falling.  I think our only recourse is to stay positive and, as you say, vote.  Exercising our right to vote is a powerful tool given us by our democracy, so each of us should do our part.

I'm glad you are seeing the woman inside; that is something positive to cling to.

If we all recognize that we need to act for the greater good and avoid being selfish, we will persevere emerging on the other side of this collection of crises much stronger.

Stay positive sister!

Thank you Jani and Sally,

We are all in this together. The woman I am wants to do something to help make things better. I know I can’t do anything about COVID other than wear a mask and be careful.

I’m going to work at our precinct for voting again in November. I feel that this is my little part to make sure that anyone who wants to vote has a chance.

Love and Hugs

Sandra

That's a great post @Sandra6sandy9sand!  thank you for sharing your thoughts and connecting with what I am sure many of us are feeling.
Regardless of our personal situations or differences, if somebody cannot see how interconnected we are by Covid and societies problems then they are truly lost.

This is actually a great opportunity for a fundamental change in America's "constitution" and direction (i.e., America's social conscious and morality ... not the actual Constitution... I agree it hasn't changed)

VOTE 2020❣️

Don’t worry @Sandra6sandy9sand. I can’t wait to get my ballot in the ballot box.  We need some real change and fast. The saying...If you don’t vote, you can’t complain...is so true. Let’s get out there and do it!

You have no idea! I have to be careful at work if I start thinking maudlin thoughts I suddenly get something in my eye.

We are conditioned by our society to accept a certain concept of beauty, and whether we are trans or cis, we are always trying to compare ourselves to that unrealistic concept.   For 90 percent of us, we can't even come close to that artificially high bar.  To maintain a healthy introspective we need to shed society's illusion of what's beautiful and focus on what's important, our inner selves.  That's where the real beauty lies anyway.

@Tori Mand @Berni, count me in!  My whole adult life, whether I'm with a partner or indulging in autoerotic gratification, I need my nipples to be teased with a fingernail or kissed and licked to achieve orgasm.  Maybe we should form a club . . .     I never thought of correlating this preference with being transfeminine; doing so I find it validating too.

Liz,   You don't have to feel obligated to wear a midi or maxi skirt.  Maybe a real short mini isn't so appropriate, but I still wear fashionable above the knee skirts to satisfy my adventurous nature.  Pair a just above the knee hem skirt or dress with a pair of high-heels and you are rocking!

Hey now, never be down on yourself because you don't happen to be your own type.   Hugs!

@Reverie_Star I know I am jealous of those I see but I then realize they are not me and I am beautiful to  - maybe not on the outside - but the woman on my inside is amazing and whatever I can do to bring that beauty to the outside I will  - some have the money to do major changes and MOST of us don't - but you know what - it's the woman inside that counts and although I have to work on trying not to be jealous every day and am envious of young women and beautiful mtf's - they are as rare as the super models - so we need to get over it and realize -we are the real deal and just as much a woman as they are and have what outward beauty and voice that I can have for  the body, circumstances and age I have to work with and be the kindest and happiest woman I can be and accept ME for who I am - looks aren't everything and I can testify to that. I always told people I had a face made for radio and that goes for male fake or female real.   THE REAL ME - is much better than the FAKE OTHERS who might be cuter outside but sadder on the inside.
