Just A Quick Question about HRT and sex

Recommended Posts

OK so I'm not doing HRT yet and I have a question. I'm just starting out transitioning and I want to start HRT as soon as I can. Today I told one of my many doctors that I'm trans and he was so supportive and told me he was proud of me and said if I needed anything to just ask. Now I have to tell my primary and see if he is comfortable treating a trans woman. If not I'm going to have to find a new doctor.

My question is about sexual orientation and if you switch because of the female hormones? Right now I like women but will after being on hormones for say a year, will I start liking men. I wouldn't care because we like who we're interested in, I'm just curious what happens and has anyone switched from one to the other. Hugs Girls Holly!

There are people whose orientation changes when they transition.  But I think it is more common for it not to change.

I preferred woman before I transitioned, and I still do.

Thanks Kathy. I heard that it depends on the person but I really wanted to hear from someone that is going through HRT. For the lack of better words, but strait from the source.. lol  Thank you Kathy. Hugs Holly

Holly its been noted by many that your attraction does not change but that you may be more open to other relationships.  Meaning you may have had supressed interest all along.  Like Kathy, my orientation has not changed.  I still prefer women.

Jani, so if I switch it might mean I was always into men and didn't know it? So I might be gay or at the very least bi. Nothing wrong with that, I will be interested in who ever I'm interested in. I just know that I had tried being with a guy and it didn't feel like it was my thing, just didn't know if HRT would have an effect on that or not.  Thanks Jani, Hugs sister. Holly

No, not at all.  Just that you may have had a tendency towards being Bi without knowing it.  If you've tried and didn't care for it then I would suggest you won't after being on estrogen too.

I loved men prior to transition, have been on my hormone therapy for over 2 years now and now am post-op. All throughout my attraction to men has not changed and no new attraction to women.

When you are no longer working on fulfilling other people's expectations for fear of being outed, you can relax and find the real you and be comfortable with yourself.  I realized that male to male friendships I had as a teenager were to a limited degree "crushes" on the other boys and basically had a good hearty laugh.  Even then I did not really want  boyfriend/boyfriend relations with them, but it was freeing to let myself think about it without fear or shame. Being me also took away a feeling of guilt as to why I could not understand my different feelings toward women at the time.  I did not fit into the male culture from High School to College and felt shame and confusion and sadness over not fitting in. Lets face it, we do not fit the norms of either binary gender even as to choice of sexual partners, but we make the right choices for us individually if we follow our hearts.  Get rid of the sexuality labels, you are Trans and they are meaningless.

This topic reminds me of the lyrics to the Beatles song, "A Little Help From My Friends."   "What do you see when you turn out the lights?"   "I can't tell you but I know it's mine."   Carolyn Marie

@Ivy have you read the actual document?   Has anyone else out there read it?
    • Abigail Genevieve
I am reading the Project 2025 document https://www.project2025.org/policy/   This will take some time.  I read the forward and I want to read it again later.   I read some criticism of it outside here and I will be looking for it in the light of what has been posted here and there.  Some of the criticism is bosh.   @MaeBe have you read the actual document?

      *older, not holder, oops :P

      No problem!

Old topic, but I gotta say my favorites are: "Stop hitting on minors" (doesn't work if you're holder tho) and "Sure as [squid] not you"

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie

I am in too good a mood to earn my certificate today. I am sure something will happen that will put me on the path to earning it.

It's likely most cis-women consider a fitting unnecessary "because they know what  they wear" and get used to the wrong size.  The instructions for what your size is are simple and why go to any further effort?  You measure your bandsize and you measure your max and subtract the two to get the needed info for the cup size.  Then you buy the same size for years until it hurts or something.

Congratulations Lorelei! Yes, it is a powerful feeling to have the documents that say "you are you".

Here is space for discussion on this, since the topic is large and could derail another thread SOMEBODY started.   Could some dear, sweet, kind Moderator pull everything related to this from the Voting for Trump thread and put it here?  I don't know if you can do that; I am the new girl on the block after all (blinks sweetly).

I will have arrived when I have a b*tch certificate of my own.  I think someone called me one once.

That’s fantastic Lorelei. I’m so happy for you.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
