Changes in Estrogen and Progesterone

My estrogen levels have been decreased recently since my orchi three years ago. I was doing well after that, bit my estrogen levels stated to drop about 8 months ago. My endo increased the dose and added progesterone. With this drop in estrogen, I stared being real depressed and my breast were getting on the droopy side. Don't ask me what happened, but my endo said it happens at times, especially in post menapaulsal (sp) women. I did go to my therapist about the depression. With the increase and progesterone my breast filled back out fairly quickly, about two months, and the depression improved. My breast did not go away, but the fullness flattened out leaving some loose skin to sag. At my last endo visit last week, my estrogen was reduced some. I feel like I am back to my old self again. One thing I will say is my breast were more sore this time than they were when I started hormones years ago. Sorry it took me so long to make my second post. Reading all of your post have helped me along more then you will ever know.. Billie

Hi @nitehwk.  I've read and my doctor warned about depression as a result of Progesterone.  I'm glad to read you are staying on top of your care with your doctor.  It can be a wild ride at times but soon enough your estrogen levels will even out.  

Don't take so long to post next time!

My endo said the same thing. We're trying it anyway, but with the understanding that if I get depression or wild mood swings I am to knock it off. She (my endo) doesn't like it as part of HRT, but she's willing to give it a whirl if you ask. Two other patients of hers had actually gone off, saying the didn't care for the effects, the same day I asked for a taste.

 

That said, the hormones hit all of us just a bit differently. I'm noticing increased mood intensity, but nothing I'd call negative.

Hey alle sammen,

almost  a year ago my endo reduced my estrogen by half. OK so far  that is until I had a mini stroke. Stroke caused by a heart that periodically AFibs. She has changed the frequency from an injection every two weeks to every three weeks. That seems Ok, except the mood swings seem more pronounced now. Three weeks ago someone got snarky with me on Facebook. I was the day after an injection and I went off total bitch on this person using language I haven't used since being in the navy. I also notice during that third week I get depressed and weepy. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Thank you Jackie and Erikka, for responding. You never know how different hormones will effect you body. Doesn't matter how long you are on hormones. your body changes cause a change in hormone, dosage, from pills to shots, etc.
