I bought a 'Men's' product

You bought what?

It wasn't even a week ago I wrote in my bio that I never buy any product that says " for Men" on it.  Well, there's an ironic twist to that story now.  I was in the store looking at a makeup case, when right there in front of me was a bottle of Nivea men's soothing post shave balm.  A 3.3 oz glass container for $7.99.  I bought it.

Why would I do such a thing?  Only because the Fabulous 50s lady on YouTube said all the girls on Instagram were using it for makeup primer.  That kinda makes it extra girly in my mind.  Anyway, it's great! You only need spot of it, and it feels soooo good after a close shave (for those of you that still shave).

And the smell doesn't repel me.  It's not your grandfather's man smell.  It leaves my face nice and doughy, with zero slimyness.  Love it!  I'm starting to have enough feminine confidence that I can use a men's product without feeling oppressed by it.

Thanks for sharing Ann.  It's really about what works, not what's on the label, right?

I actually use Monistat Anti-chaffing gel as primer.  I learned about this product while searching for a cheaper primer alternative, and lots of women were raving about it.  Turns out, it contains the same active ingredients found in expensive facial primers, but is way less expensive.  I always found it to be just as effective.

@Ann W: Ha ha, oh that is so funny, I just bought the exact same product for the first time last week!

I keep it with the "for men" label turned away, but I use it for after shaving my chest. My chest doesn't seem to have half the shaving resilliance that my face has built up over the years.

The scent is a definite "masculine" fragrance, but I find I don't hate it either. I think scents in general are more of a feminine thing anyway. Guys don't normally wear cologne for themselves, they usually only wear it for those they'd like to attract.

So, I have been watching some of Nia Graham's YouTube videos, and she has one where she discusses shaving her face.  After she finishes shaving she always applies Nivea Post Shave Balm.  She says it is great for getting the skin ready for her makeup routine.  She also talks about other products that work well for her.

Here is the link to the shaving video:

I continue to buy men's shave product that is unsented, because if you buy shaving products from the ladies department you are paying a true and real PINK TAX. My hair care products are for Grey/Silver or Blonde hair curly frizz control.

Hugs,

I saw that video too.  I do love that post shave balm.  I look forward to that part, but shaving downward just doesn't work for me...it leaves too much behind.  It may be better for shaving everyday though.

Pink tax?  I did just pay $13 for facial soap.  (wow, I really am a woman)

I've personally never noticed a pink tax on shaving stuff. If you compare Gillettes top of the line mens and womans razors. They are the same price for a 4 pack. Shaving cream is also about the same, or not enough difference to notice.

Shampoo, conditioner, and face wash is really the only thing for personal grooming. That men and woman use equally. That I have noticed a difference in prices, but its not as bad as it use to be.

      No problem!

Old topic, but I gotta say my favorites are: "Stop hitting on minors" (doesn't work if you're holder tho) and "Sure as [squid] not you"

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie

I am in too good a mood to earn my certificate today. I am sure something will happen that will put me on the path to earning it.

It's likely most cis-women consider a fitting unnecessary "because they know what  they wear" and get used to the wrong size.  The instructions for what your size is are simple and why go to any further effort?  You measure your bandsize and you measure your max and subtract the two to get the needed info for the cup size.  Then you buy the same size for years until it hurts or something.

Congratulations Lorelei! Yes, it is a powerful feeling to have the documents that say "you are you".

Here is space for discussion on this, since the topic is large and could derail another thread SOMEBODY started.   Could some dear, sweet, kind Moderator pull everything related to this from the Voting for Trump thread and put it here?  I don't know if you can do that; I am the new girl on the block after all (blinks sweetly).

Good morning everyone,   It’s Thursday well as least I took my Thursday Medications as sorted out in my weekly dispensary caddy. Today’s coffee is Folgers Breakfast Blend served HOT, black and strong. My wife and I are going to explore the Western and Southern coasts of Saginaw Bay and hang out in Bay City, MI. today.    @Willowonce @Abigail Genevievepointed out the word usage in your post. I read it and laughed, enjoying the snarky tone of the comment. Since it was spelled correctly I thought maybe you meant for it to read just as you typed it. Then the kinder gentler me thought it would be better if I changed it. I’m not saying I corrected it, I just changed the severity of the sentence.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
