Even in the midst of Covid and Sorrow - VOTE

I took time from several friends coming down with Covid and the loss of my brother - but today my wife and I stood in the rain and voted - no matter what you believe in - please make your voice heard and counted.

Voted at the city clerk's office two weeks ago Thursday.

Also, had to move this to a more appropriate topic area. Sorry 'bout that but rules are rules. I went with general because this thread is non-partisan in any way. It's just, "Please do your civic duty." I'll move it again if it gets political.

I voted in our municipal elections last week.  They had online voting, and it was pretty painless.  I had to talk to the returning officer and send a copy of my name change certificate, to get my name updated on the voting register.

Definitely get out there and vote, y'all.

@Jackie C. Thank you... I don't get much response when I open it up to general?topics but?as you say rules am rules.

I just got my ballots the other day. Yes. Ballots...plural. Despite talking to several people in Everett headquarters for our county, they still keep sending me one ballot with my birth name and one with my correct name. This nonsense has continued since June 2019 when I officially changed it with the county headquarters.

Weird. I just got the one and it's got my correct name on it. I hadn't requested one with my deadname before though. The polling place is really close (I mean I can walk there), so if we weren't in the middle of a pandemic I'd be voting in person.

I am so glad to see the outpouring of responses to voting. It is so important no matter who you vote for just do your civic duty and vote.

@Charlize as a brief aside I love the knotted scarf.  A classic look!

I'll be voting in person in my small town.

Voted last week on the first day.   There was a pretty big crowd there, long line.

I wore a skirt etc. to make a statement I suppose.  Made it home in one piece.   Now I just hope I don't get sick.

I guess I will show my age, but the first time I voted was in 1968. I have voted in every election since and will be voting in this election as well. Like some of you, I will do it in person as I live in a very small community and could probably walk to the voting place if I wanted to.

Hugs,

Mike

Amen - it's our most sacred duty and what makes us free - as long as we demand our rights.

Put my ballot in the mail this morning. First I've ever voted absentee. Was daunting figuring out how, but I guess I managed (with some help).

I really liked that doing it this way, I could see the entire ballot before voting. It gave me a very easy way to find everything up for vote, and all the choices for each, and still be able research them before voting (especially helpful for judges, because all you get is a few names, none of whom I'd ever heard of before.)

I'm sure there are ways of researching all that ahead-of-time for in-person voting, but I'd never quite managed to find out how. (Maybe it's just me and Douglas Adams, but anything governmental can seem to be so very...chapter 1 of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.)

Yeah, I really enjoyed the ability to look things up online if I was curious about a particular candidate's positions and voting record. That was really helpful. Especially with some of the more esoteric candidates like judges and college positions. Much better than guessing.

Here is space for discussion on this, since the topic is large and could derail another thread SOMEBODY started.   Could some dear, sweet, kind Moderator pull everything related to this from the Voting for Trump thread and put it here?  I don't know if you can do that; I am the new girl on the block after all (blinks sweetly).

Good morning everyone,   It’s Thursday well as least I took my Thursday Medications as sorted out in my weekly dispensary caddy. Today’s coffee is Folgers Breakfast Blend served HOT, black and strong. My wife and I are going to explore the Western and Southern coasts of Saginaw Bay and hang out in Bay City, MI. today.    @Willowonce @Abigail Genevievepointed out the word usage in your post. I read it and laughed, enjoying the snarky tone of the comment. Since it was spelled correctly I thought maybe you meant for it to read just as you typed it. Then the kinder gentler me thought it would be better if I changed it. I’m not saying I corrected it, I just changed the severity of the sentence.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Things are moving quickly now that I have my drivers license and social security card in my new name. It was really affirming when I got my first paycheck in my new name.

Amazingly I have found many cis women are absolutely wrong in their assumptions about bra fittings. I knew an elderly lady that said, "I have been a C cup since school, I just buy a bigger band size as my breasts grow." This is completely WRONG as the band should always fit snug with they gore firmly against the chest.    One of CNA's came into Torrid and I helped her pick out a new bra. She didn't even understand band size was inches and cups/band combo were based off Victorian shirt sizes.  She said, "how do you know so much?"   We found her proper fitting band size, then found a cup she fit.    How can people that take the vast majority of bra users know so little about them? Seems most cis women just use "try it on" only.

As has been said many times, this is not a black and white issue. Sure.  I get it that a MtF person that has gone through full male puberty and "transitioned" 6 months ago probably has an advantage in some sports.  But these bans affect elementary school kids too. I mean, banning trans women from Darts?  Chess?
