Harry Potter Trivia Thread

Here are the rules:

1. You may only ask questions that you know the answers to. Questions should be factual rather than subjective.

Examples

Good Question: What color are Lily Potter's eyes?

Bad Question: Who is the bestest bestest best character ever?

Caveat: If you have an question about Harry Potter that you do not know the answer to, make it clear in the post that you are not asking the question as a trivia question.

2. Once your question has been answered correctly, confirm that that is the correct answer. The person who answered correctly then asks the next question.

3. Questions may be either about the books or the films, but when there is conflict between facts from the books and facts from the films, the books trump.

4. Spoilers are acceptable.

5. Questions involving page numbers or chapter numbers are unacceptable (because, well, ... really?).

6. Only the seven books are fair game. Questions from Quidditch Through the Ages, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, or any other non-series book are not.

7. No looking up the answer. Only you are going to know if you have used resources other than the one between your ears, but doing that defeats the whole point of the game. Keep yourself honest.

8. Let's keep things friendly, please.

I'll start off with an easy-ish one:

What kind of wood is James Potter's wand made of?

James Potters Wand: uhh... Dragon heartstring? *fails*

2 Horcruxes: SNAP um, uh uh uh...... snap I really forgot.

New month resolution: re-read entire series again. I am failing my pride!

Well in book 7 the first one distroyd was the locket, with the sword of grifendor, and the second was the hufflpuffs cup with the basilisc fang.

But there were two that were destroyd pryer to book 7. Doy you remeber wich ones those were?

For the wand... only wood I can think of right now is willow, but I'm about 99% sure that's not it.

the two horcruxes were the locket and the ring. The ring was defeated with the basilisk fang and the locket with the sword of griffindor? I'm pretty sure those were the ways, not so sure about which horcruxes or which were done which

And I'm with Michael... prepare for epic re-reading.

Oh also since Lewis threw out a question unbidden, are we gonna ignore one of them or make someone get both?

I'll answer Lewis's even though we should wait for someone to answer mine after this. After this, let's stick to one question though, for simplicity's sake.

My answer to Lewis's question is this: The last two horcruxes destroyed before Voldemort is killed are the cup (stabbed with the basilisk fang by Hermione in the Chamber of Secrets) and Harry himself (Avada Kedavra by Voldemort).

James Potter's wand is not made out of willow, and I'm pretty sure the core is never specified, so I'm just looking for the wood.

Horcuxes destroyed:

Voldemort's Diary by Harry with the Basilisk fang

The ring by Dumbledore

The Locket by Ron? with Gryffindor's Sword

The Cup by Hermione with the fang

The Diadem by Crabbe with the Fiendfyre spell

Nagini by Neville with Gryfindor's sword

Joe's right. James Potter's wand is made out of mahogany. So Joe asks the next question.

Oh right... I hate this part, I never know how hard/easy my questions are...

What was the name of the muggle who checked the Weasleys, Diggorys, Harry, and Hermione into their camping area for the Quidditch World Cup?

I'm not sure, but isn't his name Roberts? He's the one who needs an obliviator constantly to keep him happy, right?

No.

The second one has to be right... I can try again, right?

If so, I think it's actually 29 knuts. And the same 17 sickles

and if not... someone kindly delete this
