There Is A Place For Us

I used to sit all alone in my little world knowing that there was nowhere

Nowhere in this big wide world where I could find anyone who would care

No, not in my life I have always kept to myself mostly from fear

It seemed that there was no safe place for people like me anywhere

I have an affliction that simply leaves others cold

The means to my cure requires me to be so bold

I am transgendered and that no one can see

For all of the conflicts are deep inside of me

No one you know will listen or stay for very long

They just shake their heads and say you are wrong

If only there was a place I could go

To talk to others like me you know

Then one day while surfing on line

I found a home, a home that is mine

It is a site that is like no other I’ve found

Where transgendered friendships abound

There are people there of all ages and religions and races

Known to each other by screen names but seldom by faces

I still sit here all alone in my same little room

The glow from the screen dispels all the gloom

A special woman has made this for us

A place safe to talk without any fuss

The site has a purpose and it shows as the way

For us all to get along and yet all have their say

It is a place for young and old to gather and play

To teach and to learn and to just spend the day

She works so hard to help us learn we are all the same

That it seems only fitting that the site bears her name

So what is the name of this site with such wonderful auras

It has a name that is so long that we just call it Laura’s

Thank you Laura, for this site, for your hard work, for your love and just for being you.

This is completely amazing. I haven't ever been one for poetry but I am going to buy your book.

This one is true, you were able to see why everyone comes here. It is like everyone here is more than just a bunch of "weirdos" hanging out, it turned into a big weirdo family! (I hope no one is offended by that, I am using it in the best way.) We are individuals with one BIG thing in common, we are all really open minded. No matter what age, race, religion, and so on, we accept them into our big weirdo family.

Again, I hope no one takes it the wrong way.
